Meanwhile, Back in the Dead Zone

Ho hum, the Bay Area loses two game 7’s in the span of 6 days. One can hope that the Giants continue to chug through the season and keep their even-year dominance intact. Johnny Cueto and Madison Bumgarner are certainly holding up their end of the deal.

Other than that, not much to report in the wide wide world of sports.

Glad I’m not a betting man or I would have lost a lot of money. I didn’t see how the Warriors could lose. Both Queto and Samarjza(sp) have been solid and great pickups. The loss of Duffy is gonna hurt just like Pence. We need another bat.

  2. Nipper says:

Back to football…….blood and guts and meyham. I guess I’ll start eating red meat again to celebrate this new emphasis. Somehow I don’t picture football players warming up to sushi.

  3. Nipper says:

How about some nice music videos? You know… to perk things up a bit. Giants play a day game. Damn they sure have a nice bridge in the background of that ball park. Very nice.

  4. unca_chuck says:

    You try, Nippy.

  5. unca_chuck says:

    This is pretty cool

  6. Winder says:

hope I didn’t already do this one but it’s my favorite Young.

  7. Gabbert averaged 250 yards a game last season, which Kap has never done in his entire career. it’s not a tough pick, we just have to finally pull the plug on Kap. There is a reason why not a single team outside of the one Kap plays for, thinks Kap is a worthy starter. I getting tired of going through another Alice Smith experiment. Jed’s like Hilary fooling people making them believe that they accomplish these great great feats, when they both just sat on their rears collecting money with nothing to show for it.

  8. unca_chuck says:

Gabbert suck balls, v. You are too stupid to see that. Bohica.

Getting a nice 4 yard completion on 3rd and 10 looks nice on the stat sheet but does nothing to win games .

Gabbert lost to the fucking BROWNS. Fuck off, idiot.

  9. I don’t understand all the hostility on this site. A difference in opinions means your called an idiot? Shows you must have not grown up with the football culture here in San Francisco because people here treat others fairly, we treat people with respect and we don’t call each other names. You have not grown up with the San Francisco culture, you must live outside our area listening to new media on the radio or on the internet that’s must be how you support our club.

We will argue to disagree but that doesn’t mean you go around belittling one’s intelligence. Does that make you less of a fan/supporter if I don’t happen to like Kaep? No but it seems to make you less inclined to understand the culture and what’s really happening in and around our club.

I don’t like Kaep’s tactics and he was a bad team selection. He doesn’t create enough chances in matches and the reason for that is because he’s not a smart QB. We have to improved in terms of possession but that’s where Kaep is not good and his failings as a QB comes at the expense of lack of creativity and balance of our offense. We had this problem since Kaep became our starter and because we have started each season exactly the same way you expecting a different outcome is ludicrous. That is the reason I cannot be optimistic about our future performances of Kaep under a Chip Kelly Leadership.

Please don’t insult one’s intelligence just because we happen to disagree on this one topic. It makes for a much better calm atmosphere when fans are able to speak freely without hearing a follow up by angry insults from left field.

  10. unca_chuck says:

V, you are a fucking inbred cretin. Boo hoo. You don’t like it? Tough shit. Go fuck yourself with a broken bottle.

  11. unca_chuck says:

Better yet, go back to Skeeb’s blog and give Bullitt a reach-around.

  12. Winder says:

    just for fun

  13. unca_chuck says:

    Another great SF band.

    • Nipper says:

All these guys had lots of hair in those days. For me, I wear a baseball cap practically indoors. If I had the bucks I’d get the Rick Barry hair doc. Rick’s son sure didn’t follow his lead.

  14. I guess we got to get use to witnessing rude behavior, remember people exposed to rude behavior tend to have concepts associated with rudeness activated in their minds, and consequently are ruder when it comes to defending their sports team. More significantly, they themselves are more likely to behave even more rudely toward others who they disagree with, I get it. They merely evoke hostility, they love a negative affect and vicariously they will repeat their destructive actions to get attention they so desperately need.

The finding route cause of negative behavior, hate can beget negative behavior is not exactly new, I found out decades ago that individuals learn vicariously and will repeat destructive actions, foul language just to get attention from those who they wish to lead.

We must all examine whether this brutality impacts social behavior and explore if rude behavior clearly affects our mindset and the way we respond to rudeness and foul language. I don’t like to lower my self so I will respond in a kindly matter every time. I just want to talk about our 49ers and less time calling people names, using foul language only because they happen to disagree with me. This one-way monopoly of either agreeing or your ridiculed only invokes Hostile Anger and I will have no part in that.

  15. I saw Huey Lewis and The News in 1986 the band was touring for their cd “Fore!” It was a killer show. I also saw Boy George in 1985 after the dissolution of Culture Club in 1986, Boy George entered treatment for his addiction, that was a sad day for all of us.

I must admit Gabbert was not good on 3rd and long. However, he did have a crazy large percentage of 3rd and long downs (62.5% of all 3rd down attempts). Despite this handicap, he had overall decent numbers: 63.1 completion %, 7.2 Y/A, 86.2 rating.

There are solutions to this problem: improve pass protection, call better plays on third and long, practice third and long situations more. All of these fixes seem to be in process. For God Sakes at this point lets try anyone but Kaepernick he’s toast!

    • Nipper says:

I bet they have nice toast at “the home.” What kind of jams and jellies do you guys have?

  16. unca_chuck says:

Ok, V, then apologize for 10 years of utter bullshit that you’ve posted here and other places. I could give a fuck about how your feelings are hurt. And Dokken sucks. Huey Lewis? Please.

  17. Nipper says:

Hey V are you lucid today?

  18. rtfirefly says:

I’ll take the Cat Stevens concert I saw at the Oakland Coliseum Arena over ten Huey Lewis concerts any day. Boy George? LOL, V, you’re on fire!

Niners Theme & Jed’s Song (this is from the same tour, right before he became a Greek monk)

  19. I must say I really enjoyed that Cat Guy. I think I remember him through my parents reminiscing their times during the Woodstock days. My dad especially was so angry at this guy named Cat when one day put down his guitar, left all the hot chicks screaming for him, cash and all the fame any man could want, for a Turban, Islamic Dress and the responsibility of shouting “Praise be to Allah!” on every street corner, is this that guy? What a loser! This is one of those 70’s Singers and Songwriters guys singing about peace and love crap, right? They could remove that whole decade from all of our memories and no one would care.

I like new wave synthesizer bands like Tears For Fears, can we post some of those videos of my high school days to make this place fair and balanced? The duo re-formed in 2000 and released an album of new material, Everybody Loves a Happy Ending, who doesn’t like those?

I hear some people crying for Alex Smith and forgetting that neither Smith nor Kaepernick are ever going to be anything more than game managers on their best days. They both choke when it matters most! Kaep is still screwed up in his head from his child hood! has to many off the field issues and like Smith doesn’t care if he wins. Even Jerry Rice says Colin Kaepernick sucks and he’ll get Jim Harbaugh fired! He was correct in his assessment.

  20. rtfirefly says:

Screw that. The ’70s had a lot of great music.

  21. This was the only song I liked from the 1970’s. I’m sure you all remember, Crank It Up!

  22. Winder says:

    The 70’s were something.

  23. Nipper says:

What happened to Jeff S. last night? What the heck? Anyone got some answers. Come on Chuck give me a loud BLEEP! That game sucked big time.

  24. unca_chuck says:

Nice. That was s little before my time. My first dead show was around 1978. Oakland auditorium.

  25. unca_chuck says:

Funny, I just listened to Fragile last week. Great album.

  26. rtfirefly says:

Well, V, The Village People was a gay band, which I know bothers you. So here’s a song from the ’70s I know you’ll like, from a band as straight as any you’ll ever find – the singers were two hetero married couples.

  27. Nipper says:

Oh well another Giants loss at home…….BOO HOO! Giants need help in the pen.

  28. unca_chuck says:

    BTO’s reply to Fragile . . .

    2nd concert I ever saw. 1975.

  29. unca_chuck says:

Might be s little too racy for v…

  30. Nipper says:

A’s shit can the Giants again. Giants look inept. More injuries. Sniff……..

  31. unca_chuck says:

Right. If anything the Giants need pen help. SDome of these inured guys should start filtering back soon. Romo is on the mend. We’ll see how that goes. An elbow injury for a slider pitcher is tough to come back from.

  32. Nipper says:

Bum tonight. Perhaps a win if they catch the ball tonight. Yikes!

  33. unca_chuck says:

Huh. Phil has gone completely around the bend. Bakkenbullitt is living in a parallel universe where we actually went after people in free agency, and V is inhabiting a kinder, gentler nom de plume. For the time being. . . . . . . . . . .

    turn out the lights

  34. Winder says:

what a great fucking band. lots of bands made their mark on certain cultures like the Airplane, the Dead, guns and roses and so on. But, for around 2 years the Doors were the band they had everyone locked into their music. Doubt anyone will see that happen again.

  35. rtfirefly says:

Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding! Attention K-Mart shoppers!

Training camp starts in precisely 1 month. 30 days and counting…

  36. Nipper says:

Back to football at Kezar. Who’s going?

  37. unca_chuck says:

Yeah, Winder, there hasn’t been a band before or since that has created such an incredible depth of emotion in just about every song. Haven’t listened to them in a while and now I can’t stop.

  38. Winder says:

I probably did this one before also but here it is again. A kmpx staple

  39. unca_chuck says:

    Havent heard that in 40 years . . .

  40. Winder says:

this one would work to rt

  41. NJ49er says:

Here’s another classic, nicely done by Warren Haynes and Dave Matthews –

    • NJ49er says:

This is a worthy entry as well –

      • Winder says:

NJ- all good stuff. Like chuck said, I hadn’t listened to the doors for years so I had to go over most of their songs the last few days. Even after all these years I still like em.

  42. Nipper says:

    The Giants pen in Arizona……….ouch!

  43. NJ49er says:

Skeebs is reporting a genuine concern about whether NoFear49er has passed.
If anyone is aware of his current status kindly get in touch with Skeebs.
His efforts to reach NoFear49er have gone unanswered.
All disagreements aside, I sincerely hope this information isn’t true 😦

    • NJ49er says:

He was a VNam Vet, I would normally be tipping my cap to him today, and those like him, who Served, especially on Independence Day.
      Say it ain’t so….

    • rtfirefly says:

Yeah, I figured Trump vs. Clinton would have him on Skeebs every damn day. I was planning to stay as far away from that as I could stand, and let Spitty go at with him, though Spitty’s a Bernie guy like I would be in a perfect world.

His extended absence from that war had me wondering for some time.

  44. Nipper says:

    Happy 4th to all.

  45. unca_chuck says:

No idea, NJ. He never gave me any personal info so I have nothing to go on. He did disappear for the whole 2011 season . . .

    • NJ49er says:

Sad to think the worst at this point Chuck, thanks.
Hopefully all is well for him and his family.

      • NJ49er says:

By the looks of it, Skeebs had some direct contact in the past, which is not producing any feedback at this point.
Perhaps, with a little help from the community here, (and there), someone can make a connection.
        Fingers crossed…

      • NJ49er says:

BTW Chuck, did you ever receive the pic of the new 9er tat I had done?
Went out back in May if memory serves?

  46. Nipper says:

    Durant to the Warriors…….WOW!

  47. rtfirefly says:

Did I mention that the biggest weakness in the Warriors starting lineup was Harrison Barnes? He completely disappeared in the finals and was reason numero uno why they lost Game 7.

The one guy I really wanted, the one guy that impressed me in the playoffs against the Warriors, who would be a perfect fit to replace that black hole: KD, FA Kevin Durant.

Honest, I make enough mistakes. I naiIed this one.

The Warriors FO is like the Niners under Walsh. Fred Dean, Dan Audick, Hacksaw Reynolds – you got a hole? You fix it with the best available.

Next year’s gonna be fun again.

  48. Winder says:

happy 4th to all you guys too. I have been wondering where NF has been to, hopefully he is out on maneuvers somewhere. We had our disagreements over the years but none of them ever got ugly. It still makes me laugh when him and chuck would go at it, his staple comeback line was always calling chuck a talking donkey. I thought it took some class to do it that way.

    • NJ49er says:

      Ditto Winder –
Sad to think the worst without some sort of confirmation.
Hoping it’s simply NoFear49er going AWOL, nothing worse.

  49. Nipper says:

3-1 Giants so far on Pagan HR. 375FT.

  50. rtfirefly says:

I’ll miss Andrew Bogut but Varejao filled in adequately for him. The Warriors now need another big man to eat up minutes and clog the lane. It’ll be damned interesting now, though, if they decide they don’t need one and plan on Durant’s minutes and massive offense to replace him. I wonder if they have some young big dude already in mind to back up (?) Varejao.
