Hey, since there’s no football news to speak of, and I’m not really into hockey, the talk of the Bay Area is the Golden State Warriors.
Frankly, the Cleveland Cavaliers must be thinking, what the fuck? We hold Steph and Klay to a combined 8-27, and a combined total of 20 points (lowest all season) and still get blown out? James, Love, and Irving scored 66 points compared to Stpeh, Klay, and Green combined for a paltry 36 and the game is basically garbage time most of the 4th quarter? Disheartening to say the least.
Tale of the game was the benches. 45 to 10 was a giant advantage for the Dubs. To lose that handily has to be a tough pill to swallow for LeBron and Co. Funny thing is, Andre Igluodala had his own Steve Adams moment when St. Mary’s alum Matthew Dellavedova smacked Iggy in the jigglies. After the common (really?) foul, the Warriors, up 3 at the time, went on a nice run starting with Iggy hitting a 3 right after the play and never looked back.
Needless to say, there are a couple ways to look at this. BronBron called out his bench after the game, saying they have to do a better job. They can hang their hat on the fact they shut down the Splash Bros, and think they can shut our bench down as they played out of their minds. Problem with that is, it is a rare occurrence when the rainmakers get shut down 2 games in a row. Both rarely get shut down at the same time, so there may be something to that, but I’d be worried if I was Cleveland about those two. The Warriors will likely not get 20 from Shaun or 11 from the Brazilian Blur, but Iggy wil contribute, and the Splash Bros should combine for about 60 next game.
Most encouraging thing to me was to see Harrison Barnes contributing inside and making shots. I said it before the series that the Cavs are not in our class. I think Portland is better than the Cavs. OKC as well.

Livingston: His 20 pts. was a career high.
Bench: +35 was the highest in an NBA Finals game in 50 years.
*Iggy shut down LeBron. When Draymond or he guarded LeBron, LeBron’s shooting % dropped 30 pts.
*So much for having healthy Love and Irving. They can’t guard anybody.
*The Cavs have no one to match up against Livingston. Maybe LeBron, but he can’t be on the floor guarding everybody at all times.
Okie See matched up MUCH better against the Warriors than the Cavs do.

Love is soft as a pillow. I actually thought Cleveland was better of last year without Love. Irving is a soft defender. BronBron has his moments, but he’s defending alone out there. And I was hating it when there was talk of trading Love for Thompson a couple years back.
Just heard Muhammad Ali passed away. Sad day and yet another icon has left us. Hated how he treated his toughest foe, Joe Frazier, but his stance for peace and his humanitarianism during and after his boxing career is unparalleled.
I saw him at the Cow Palace, he came out in between wrestling matches. This was when he was still Cassius Clay (sp) and before the Liston fight. He was talking smack about his upcoming fight. He was one hellava fighter. RIP
We lost a great one there. RIP Muhammad.

Last year the Cavs took Game 2 in Oakland and Game 3 in Cleveland. I just don’t see that happening this year.

Bit of a spotty first half for the Warriors, but a strong second quarter gives them a halftime lead. They need to have one of their patented third quarter spurts to bury these fuckers. It’s easy to see how much better the W’s are when they’re playing their best, but then they have lulls like they did at the end of the first half that halved a 15 point lead.
I’ve seen Santana twice. Always good for a great show. I love his band too.
17 days are allotted for the NBA Finals. That seems like a long goddamn time for a 7 game series to go.
