Aaaaak! In a very revolting turn of events, the 49ers have hired Chip K-K-Kelly as our head coach. Sure, I give him a hard time for being percieved as a racist coach who got rid of a bunch of black guys on his team. Those facts are out there for alL to see. What his reasoning was behind all those curious moves in Philly now become front and center with the 49ers. His trade of LeSean McCoy for the eventual signing of DeMarco Murray proved to be an unmitigated disaster. Nick Foles for Sam Bradford yielded little as well. After being traded, CB Brandon Boykin said Kelly was ‘uncomfortable’ around the grown men of his culture. LeSean McCoy of course started this by saying Kelly was “getting rid of all the good black players” from the Eagles.
Be that as it may, I ruminated a couple weeks ago that it would be mildly interesting to see how a Colin Kaepernick/Chip Kelly offense would work. Seeing as Kelly didn’t have the kind of QB in Philly that he wanted in Sam Bradford or Nick Foles, he now has two guys at his disposal who could conceivably run his high-speed offense. I never in my wildest nightmares thought this would come to pass, but here we are.
Frankly, I’d love to see Kappy in the driver’s seat of this, but I’m pretty sure Baalke has other ideas about giving money to a guy who got benched/injured (pick your order) last season. Gabby may be able to pull it off, but he showed his limitations last year as well. And given the underlying tendencies of our newly minted head coach, does Kappy even stand a chance to stay?
Beyond that, since Kelly has a recent track record of demanding more and more control of the roster (he may not have called himself the GM, but he was solely responsible for the personnel decisions in Philly after all), is THAT Jed’s intent? To position Kelly as the instrument of Trent Baalke’s demise? Hey, anything’s possible in this cown show.

The problem was that like him stating before he just made Alex Smith our starter, “I’m going to search the whole world over, unturned every stone to find our starting QB. As we all know none of these things happened.
Sure one of the leading reasons we have more downfield passing is we used to have just pass interference and unnecessary roughness, Now we’ve got pass interference, unnecessary roughness, illegal contact, defenseless receiver and helmet-to-helmet hits and like everything when you alter the sport getting a penalty way down field is now a part of the game plan instead of just moving the ball down the field because of great talent and not looking for help from the referees. Now Veteran quarterbacks like Brady, Drew Brees, the Mannings (Eli and Peyton) and Ben Roethlisberger know if they throw it down the field now, there’s a real good chance something good is going to happen with a flag thrown on every play.
Regardless the Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell says West Coast passing remains a staple for some quarterbacks like the Dallas Cowboys’ Tony Romo, for example, Rodgers, Brady and Brees as well. The Patriots essentially are running the West Coast offense why can’t we? What they call it the WCO because of Walsh and the 49ers no longer even run an altered version of it?
Like Reid said, “Sure it looks different now we were kind of in that part of the evolution when we went to Green Bay.” Seattle coach Pete Carroll said. “The new West Coast offense is similar in concepts, passing-wise, but the running game is nowhere near where it was. And that’s what made that such an extraordinary offense.” You can still find the West Coast offense in nearly every single playbook in the league. The keys to the West Coast Offense are still apparent today, just as they were under Walsh in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. Again we needed to clean house and no house cleaning was even attempted.
Instead of you accepting anyone Jed Hires as our new Head Coach or Continuing on the Kappy Path to nowhere you should be thinking of a West Coast Offense guy that would come in here and re-establish a form of Walsh’s Offense and creating a new Joe Cool. How do we find that guy when we’re looking in the wrong places? Instead we have a QB like Aaron Rodgers and Mike McCarthy running the WCO in Green Bay instead of us. They blended new-school tactics with Montana-era West Coast offense principles to the Packers that made their offense great. They’ve taken the Packers, the old West Coast offense, and the quarterback position into the modern age while Jed sitting around with his thumb up his ass.

Heard tell Kelley’s fast paced offense leaves the defense on the feild too long ?
At first I was anti Kelley based on his woeful performance with his players and personnel decisions in Philadelphia.
Now i’m hearing he went out of his way to let it be known he wasn’t looking for control over personnel ?
Anyone know how much we offered Kelley ?
I was liking Jackson and Shanny better.

If you look at the list of coaches only a few have winning records. Shows it is difficult to win. So let’s see what Kelly can do!
Get better players if the team wants to do better. Coaching can only do so much.

The good on Kelly is he had 20 wins in two seasons in Philly. IRISH
His offense ranked in the top three two years in a row and he’s an offensive minded coach.
I think he can get the best out of Kaepernik.

Funny thing about our OL. I feel good about the combo of Staley, Boone and Kilgore
I think we found two good players on the right side late last year. Tiller and Brown both looked pretty good to me. I really like Brown. He’s 6-8 345 and moves real good for a big guy. Funny thing is Anthony Davis might come back next year too. If he does we might just want to add one more guy at RG

Not that it’s setting the bar very high, but he’s a sight better than Jimmy T. I’m a little concerned about what Rob said, about Baalke not ceding personnel control. In Kelly’s case I think that’s a mistake. Baalke NEEDS to lean on Kelly when it comes to acquiring offensive personnel, because Baalke’s suckitude in that area is well documented. I don’t know how the arrogant prick wouldn’t do that. Offense is Kelly’s rice bowl and not using him to evaluate talent would be insanely stupid.
You guys know this, but even bigger than hiring Kelly now is who he brings in for his coaching staff. If he gets that right, we may be on to something.
Fuck it, Chip Kelly is our coach. If he can figure out a way to beat the goddamn Seahawks, I’ll be a happy man.

Rob, that’s assuming Kap ends up being the guy. Gabbert runs very well and has a strong arm like Kap but with more accuracy. I’m still not sold on the idea that they’ll pay the millions to bring back, but I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

I’m not happy or sad with this move. In one way this is move reminds mem of hiring Harbaugh, a genius coach who has a hard time getting along with co-workers. Hopefully he will stay clear of personnel power plays. Fix the line because Chip loves to run the ball.

Kelly already has a connection with Niners senior personnel executive Tom Gamble, who had been with Kelly in Philadelphia.

I don’t really know much of anything about Kelly. Wait and see for me, I am glad that the organization finally made a decision. We will all know more when we see who falls from the tree.
