Here we are, 11 days before the real thing, and 22 players away from our final roster. And stop me if you[ve heard this before, but the O line seems unsettled. Devens, our RG picked up from NE seems to have put himself into the roster based on practices, because he didn’t leave a lot of film on game days.
We’ll let that go, but my issue is still with Eric Pears and his lack of ability. He has graded out miserably, yet they seem to be sticking to their guns with this guy. Maybe they are hoping for a surprise cut come September 5th, but this usually isn’t how Baalke rolls.
As this is the 4th preseason game, there may not be a lot to look for, other than the turf conditions, and the defensive backfield play. Ken Acker has risen to the top of the heap pretty quickly, but Tramaine Brock remains a mystery as Jim Tomsula channeled his predecessor by saying,”We’re not going to talk as in-depth there.”
Brock tweaked his hammy at some point in the joint practices with Denver last week, and hasn’t been seen on the field since. Behind him we have Keith Reaser, who has shown some good and some bad. Dontae Johnson, forced into a starting role as a rookie last year due to injuries, has been solid, if not spectacular. Jimmie Ward is battling injuries himself, and Shareece Wright has been relegated to backup status.
Kind of a mixed bag there. Brock is very good when healthy. He needs to GET healthy. He won’t be out there. Other than the giant suckhole that was the offseason, at least we have dodged the injury bug. Let’s hope this continues. Ahmad Brooks’ status remains a mystery as well as his buddy RayMac appears to have thrown him under the bus trying to defend himself. Boys boys boys . . .
yup thanks for watching for the all important O-line performances. Devey and Brown looked …
oh gee hayne is fun to watch and ellington is the 3rd WR until simson gets back !
nice , what would I ever do without you guys !
Guess being in florida i’ll have to watch it tonight on NFLN to see that stuff .
The cuts begin…with Dockett
Sorry 12th about my last post. Missed ur input there.
I’ll be watching the game for the first time tonight on NFLN since I live in Florida I have to wait.
I’ll be looking for Brown to see what he’s got
Huh. That was quick.
OMG so much for helping to offset the loss of justin Smith.
7-9 anyone
D line is the least of our worries, Rob.
Anybody hear that jaquaski Tartt was graded one of the ten best draft picks so far
He made my list Rob 😀
So did Eli Harold.
I had them flip flipped by ranking though.
Half the draft made your list NJ!
Tartt looks like the real deal. He and Eric Reid will be bookend safeties for a good long time.
Lockett got old and injured, no big loss, he did nothing anyway. D line is good. Anyone see Tony Jerrold-Eddie at OLB? I think he is on the bubble and they wanted to see what else he has to offer.
Tartt and Harold showed something good each game they played in. Harold will be a good one once and Tartt already is.
Ward is being surpassed and Acker looks like a starter to me. I like Johnson at corner too but not so much in the slot. Ward didn’t do well there either. Brock might be the best slot guy with Johnson and Acker at CB.
Dockett.
LB Philip Wheeler
OT Joe Looney
S Craig Dahl
With Looney gone, say goodbye to the 2012 draft.
Wheeler, Looney Dahl
That was weird. I posted the cuts in more polished form and they got spammed. I then reposted them and it said “duplicate post”.
With Looney gone (which surprised the hell outta me), say goodbye to the 2012 draft.
Another casualty to the spam filter. Hmmm. No more picks from 2012 draft left with Looney gone. Will that phrasing fly?
Eagles are already down to 62 and neither Barkley nor Tebow are among the cuts. I doubt Tebow makes it, despite having a much better preseason than Barkley (90 vs. 58 QBR as an example). Barkley IDK. Kelly’s definitely making a statement, though; Tebow will likely be #54.
WR Isaac Blakeney
Was he on the team?
OL Patrick Miller
Sample tweet to MM about Looney’s cut and the black hole which is the 2012 Niners draft (one of many saying the same thing):
“so harbaugh must’ve picked that whole class lol ..that’s why they kicked him out lol “
Yeah that draft stunk alright.
Barkley traded to the Cards for a conditional 7th. GOOOOOOOOOOO TEBOWWWWWW
(I KNOW that’ll get Chuck. LOL)
You do love you some Tebow RT!
Hot tub on his last chance?
I think he got screwed after his time with the Broncs (I listened to most of the games; I was computer deprived.). He should have had another REAL chance since then with somebody. Now, at 28, even a 3rd stringer with the Eagles is a chance. Bradford’s a ticking time bomb, and Sanchez is so inconsistent it must be maddening to his coaches (Steve Deberg syndrome to a certain extent).
I know Chuck hates Tebow because of his overt religiousness. I don’t give a freak. His games on radio were marvels and “miracles”.
I answered you but I lost yet another one to the spammie. It’s on a roll today, or it’s out to get me. I’ll try again.
OK now it shows up. Weirdness, par for the course for WordPress…
I just released them. Not sure what caused that. WP is flakey at times.
“Tebow spotted at airport” – TMZ
Nice pic of a big guy from the back with cholo shorts and an untucked sports shirt. TMZ might be right, but I think they should stick with Lindsay Lohan stories. Their paparazzi are more accurate there.
Cut,cut,cut……….trim,trim,trim….snip,snip,snip…..pruning the excess baggage of broken dreams.
Hmmm. Spam filter is empty. Hey, if Tebow can play, more power to him. He can prostrate himself on the field for all I care. Speak in tongues, handle snakes, bleed from his palms. Whatever.
What irks me is all the people out there who think he got jobbed because of his religion. He was cut because he isn’t god, uh, good (hyuk!).
I mean, there are literally hundreds of devout players out there who don’t make it a point to let you know what they believe every second of every day. Sure, Tebow’s been quiet lately, but even still, he gets a shit-ton of media play simply because he’s outspoken about his faith. Kappy is on the other end of this type of stuff. He’s got bible quotes tattooed all over himself (no leviticus, I’m sure), and he’s for all intents and purposes, a man of faith based on his helping kids, and what he says, but since he isn’t in your face with it, where’s the abject devotion to him? Because he doesn’t scream it from the mount he isn’t worthy? I simply don’t get it.
If Tebow has improved himself to be a 3rd stringer, yippee. Good for him. If he can’t pass Sanchez on the depth chart, well, that tells you something, but hey, if it rocks your world that Tebow makes it as a 3rd stringer, cool. Chances are he may be the starter this year being behind Sam (owie) Bradford and Mr. Butt Fumble. I’m sure they’ll use him on 2 point conversions . . .
