All-Time Post of Forever (#1)

says:
September 7, 2011 at 7:40 pm (Edit)
I see this Season starting with lots of motion and ground attack.
Our OL is going to take time to adjust to the new system, however, a WCO should help them once Alex and the WRs get into the necessary rhythm.
Game 1, lots of Gore and Hunter, 9ers win a close one. I do expect Harbaugh to take some deep shots though, VD and Braylon will be a nice duo.

Aaaand, the Niners named Jordan Devey the starting right guard. I guess he was the least terrible? Didn’t see too much of him.
http://www.csnbayarea.com/49ers/devey-wins-starting-49ers-job-right-guard
Guess they have to settle on someone. The problem I still see is Eric Pears at RT.
Martin is a better C than RG IMO. Not great but can fill the void till Killgore makes it back and who knows, maybe Martin improves on the job.
Don’t know anything about Devey but it is significant that he won the starting role after such a short time with the team.
Pears has not looked good but part of that is who is next to him too. My preference is still to move Boone to RT but what do I know.
My preference is by some miracle a quality RT becomes available after final cuts.
I’m sure they are scanning the wires just in case Rob.
Yup CHUCK and not having Kilgore is a killer. IMHO he’s as good at his position as any lineman we have. Having him would allow Martin to slide over to RG leaving only pears as our one weakest link.
Too bad but I’m hearing Brandon Thomas isn’t 100 % yet.
Thomas is a good athlete but raw as of now IMO. He is next year or maybe later this year if the alternatives stink.
Martin has not played well at RG so far IMO.
Following on from your last thread Chuck, a quote I lifted from Maiocco:
–The 49ers have no update on the status of linebacker Ahmad Brooks, who was excused from team activities last week after the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s office filed a charge of misdemeanor sexual battery after an eight-month investigation. Tomsula said the 49ers will disclose any new developments as they occur. “We’re not going to live in secrecy,” Tomsula said.
How anyone can make the case that Tomsula is more secretive on injuries than the legendary Harbaugh is a feat unto itself.
You mean the dunce that has numbers to prove Harbaugh was as good as Walsh at running an offense? If there was ever proof that numbers are deceiving that is it.
True that.
From what I’ve gathered, 12th, the Niners can’t do anything even if they wanted to. The decision to suspend comes from the league at this point. At least that’s what the wonks at ESPN said the other day. I don;t fully get it, but you’d think the Niners would be within their right to cut the guy.
Buwwit doesn’t get that these guys practice with the team as well. He thinks playing time in the regular season is determined strictly by playing time in preseason games. What a goob. Then again, he thinks Harbaugh was the most forthright coach in the league last year regarding injuries.
The last line of the quote above says it all. Bullit is going to pop a blood vessel trying to make the opposite argument unconvincingly. The guys a twat.
Pears has whiffed all by himself enough to think he’s not going to cut it. If they have to use a TE to help him chip, well then the RG better be up to the task of doing double duty.
Watching the game again on NFLN nice 50 yd punt by pinion. Good choice imo and great way to save 2 mil in cap space.
I like the pick too Rob.
Prediction: Niners offensive line ……Ouch! Maybe 6-10 this season. I hope not but what’s a guy to think based on this sorry ass preseason. At least we’ll have plenty of music on this blog to ease the pain. Turn up the volume…….
Aren’t you the guy that said pre-season is worthless? Why draw conclusions?
WR’s Simpson, Smelter, and Anderson are all guys not playing for between 6 weeks and all year but what great depth of talent to have ready behind Boldin, Smith, Ellington and White and for when Boldin hangs em up and that’s without next years draft.
It’s a sad state of the team when other teams’ scrubs instantly become our starters.
Devney was a starter for the Pats last year but I get your point RT.
Four starts in seven game played, inactive for the postseason.
-19.2 rating for 2014 by PFF. But given the current state of the right side, he’s probably an improvement. Hopefully, it’s temporary and Thomas will be ready to take over soon. Hopefully. Plus, Devey is still young. Well at least he’s a warm body.
Bear in mind he started 4 games for a team that won the SB RT. I doubt the guy is worse than rookie Silberman or Martin who has played poorly at RG.
As I said I get your point but hardly a scrub.
Jake Long is still available. He must either still be hobbling or want too much money to still be available.
I agree RT. Good thing that scrub comes from the pats 😉
In fact I’m liking what I’m seeing right now from our right side. Devey and Brown got some game !
That’s some optimism you got there Rob. As hopeful as I am I can’t quite say I am liking what I’m seeing on the right side so far.
they are gonna have to address the need sooner or later.
It’s pretty obvious to me that Ellington is our 3rd WR until Simpson gets back. Deandre White is #4 going forward imho.
Not bad
No question Davis deciding to retire so late has been the most damaging loss to the O line. Hard to do much about it. Mathis was probably the best bet at the time.
Niners D looks like the backbone of the team again and to me, so far, it looks elite again. ST with Pinion, McCray, White, Ellington and almost certainly Hayne may well be better than last year. The run game also looks as good if not better so far. The big question mark is the passing O, can the line protect and can Kap deliver.
They O line was shitty last year at pass pro. The scheme was not helpful to that situation and they tried to keep Kap in the pocket which is not his game. I just can’t see the passing game being less effective over the course of the season than last year.
For all the crying and wailing and the player losses in the off season, this team still looks competitive to me.
I know some won’t accept this but I do know for sure whatever record we have this year will be better than if Harbaugh was here. I have absolutely zero doubt about that.
I don’t disagree Berger, too much drama and discord for it to succeed. No way of knowing how this year will pan out but they are definitely talented and capable of competing. If they get on a roll, who knows.
I will be surprised to see less than 8 wins though.
From Maiocco:
“Devey was considered on the bubble to make the Patriots’ 53-man roster at the time of the trade that sent him to the 49ers, who envisioned him as a player who could provide immediate assistance.”
Just a reminder, Devey wasn’t cut from the Pats 90, he was traded for the Niner TE Cleveland.
I watched the Tomsula presser today about the O line. He said again that having Boone at LG means they created depth for LT. Is there something wrong with Staley?
Boone played LT several times before for Staley and they didn’t miss a beat so its making me wonder why they feel the need to get ready.
Tomsula was asked if he had considered moving Boone to RT and he said no.
Yeah, I’ve heard that a few times as well and wondered wtf is the issue with Staley. Why are they projecting him getting hurt?
Well, Bergs, if this team does end up cratering, the coaching staff has little to do with the problem.
The big problem is was and will be the line. I just don’t understand why they didn’t go after Mathis.
Boone at RT would solve a problem. Don’t understand why it isn’t even on the table.
Headscratcher.
IMO, Boone was the better replacement on the left side.
Was reading that Brandon Thomas is also more comfortable on the left, which might explain why he wasn’t very productive on the right.
Given the comparison, Boone wins that competition easily.
Both Boone and Devey apparently trumped him.
I think Trent Brown likely gets the RT gig once he’s ready.
He simply swallows people and, I like his feet for a huge kid.
When is TB ready ? Not sure it isn’t right now
Interesting article from B/R on Harbaugh –

Thanks…..nice article.
Good one on Harbaugh.
Figures its Killion with the hatchet job. Not that it isn’t true, but she’s a moron.
I figured it was stuff like that in the article, but from that I learned more about really what Harbs was about and why he drove the Niners crazy than I did in 4 years of local media. Our local sports media really is pathetic when it comes to investigative reporting…
Kawakami certainly had his differences with Harbs over the years. But it was more personal than anything else. Little came out about the front office difficulties until the trade to Cleveland rumor surfaced. And I wouldn’t put it past Harbugh to float that bitch out there.
He’s a master manipulator, and he saw the writing on the wall with Brady Hoke at Michigan at the start of the season last year. His first salvo in his disentanglement from the 49ers.
Well, they’d better settle on someone at RT. If it does happen to be Pears, I think we are in trouble.
Shit. AZ just cut Rob Crisp, a fairly highly rated tackle out of NC State. We need bodies and we need them now.
Meanwhile in revisionist bubble-land, the head whiner has commenced whining about preseason games. If you solely base anything strictly on preseason games, you are an idiot of the highest nature. Remember Detroit’s 4-0 record (or ours Under Singletary)? Of course not. Even NoFear gets that much.
He also like the fact that Harbaugh runs on the field to see himself fawning over his injured players. Like the players he’s forcing out of Michigan to free up a couple of the 125 precious spots on the team. Class guy. Give him 3-4 years and see how many people want to run him out of town on a rail.
Ignore everything at the cost of winning. I thought that was Al Davis’ mantra. Figures, since he cut his coaching under the tutelage of re-undead Al. Well, you can’t even say winning, because he DIDN’T win it all. Either here or Stanford. Close, but no cigar, eh Monica Buwwitski?
Uh oh
Speaking of meaningless preseason numbers, guess who had the best rushing yards per carry average?
http://m.49ers.com/news/article-2/Colin-Kaepernick-Encouraged-by-San-Franciscos-NFL-leading-Rush-Offense/74d314ba-c293-4da2-ac85-7fd85c4f9f92
Bubble-land BakkenSpitty is calling for Gabbert. You know, the guy that Harbaugh broke last year.
The problem with the shitty right side of the line is it takes away the drag routes that have worked with Blabbert and the 2nd/3rd stringers.
Have yet to see Kappy move right without a DE in his face due to Pears whiffing. And guys can be open all day, but if guys are coming in unblocked, there’s little to no chance of a completion. Just look at Manning vs us last week.
I didn’t hear any comments about how shitty Manning looked against our defense. From bubble-land anyway. And Manning was under less pressure than Kaepernick by far.
Lol
Hmmm niners are playing on Thursday. So is Michigan. Who’s watching which one I wonder
Now that’s funny!
NoFear is still under the delusion that this team as currently constituted is the same as the 2012 team. I mean really. How far-fetched is that?
Put it this way, NoFear. Say all these changes that have gone on this season happened with Harbaugh and his coaching staff still here? Do you really think we’d be Super Bowl favorites?
This is what I mean by delusional. Like all our problems would be majically fixed by St. Jim waving his magic wand. De. Looz. I. On. Al.
Here’s my posit to you. If the line can’t block, we will suck. Lots of us here have been saying that for a long time. But spinmeister supreme-o fails to acknowledge these facts. He’d prefer to keep tiling at his straw men.
In other words, last year’s excuses that Harbaugh used were legit. “oh the line was hurt! I can’t call plays to save my life”
Lose half the starters to retirements and FA defections, and these excuses are now invalid?
What a fucking loon. Keep peddling the bullshit NoFear. The bubble brigade is lapping it up.
It is but to laugh. If he’s serious, he’s fucking dumber than a box of rocks. No one can be that idiotic (buwwit excepted).
What’s even funnier is that Nolan’s once and future lap dog just called me out for “agenda based blogging”
LMAO
Interesting theory (right) posted by NoFear. AD is the same as Eric Pears!!! No difference! Why? Because AD was hurt and missed time!
Stunning in it’s stupidity. Epic even. And I thought Spitsalot was the village idiot.
Gee, think the blocking is important NoFear? Oh, I get it. Blocking was important last year. This year it isn’t because Harbaugh was replaced. Funny how agenda work (insert major eye-roll here). Some of here have been noting/complaining that enough isn’t being done about the line. The one that had problems LAST year.
Fucking high comedy over there. This is the 2012 team minus the HC. Riiiiiiight.
Yes, the owner and GM are working against success. THE KILLER TWEET!!!!!
But they can’t see Harbaugh salivating for his dream job at Michigan.
Speaking of gunny sergeants, try calling your gunny sgt a pussy, NoFear.
The name is “Constant Fear”…..
Or Fear and self Loathing.
