Well, this time around, better quiet than turmoil. Last year at this time, rumors were flying about our dear departed head coach, the fact that Harbaugh was nearly traded, the coach didn’t talk to the GM, on and on.
All we have this year is the snickering from the so-called cognoscenti (and blognoscenti) about how the team has no chance, the coach is a goober, a snitch, and a yes man for the FO , the OC is an inexperienced neophyte, and the team is old and lousy due to defections.
Well, the team is getting a little long in the tooth, but they did get younger at RB and DL. Right? The point being, this team appears to have gone through a lot of turmoil and is quietly going about its business while the sports world is hell-bent on dumping on the team. Tomsula did the hee-haw crowd a favor by having an uninspiring presser to start his tenure, because as we all know, good pressers mean good coaching. It was all a prefect storm of innuendo and snickering by the hoi polloi of the ESPN crowd, quickly followed by the local media. It became de riguer to dump on the team.
The swirl of doomerism is slowing down. Mainly because you can’t keep beating that horse and expecting people to keep listening. The team is starting OTAs and exciting nothingness happens while people are starting to ask questions around VD and his effectiveness and who will the cornerbacks be among the young crop of guys rather than why Jed is the anitchrist who dethroned the greatest coach in Niner history, St. Jim the Penultimate.
Either way, none of this shit will matter until they start playing for real in September. It’s all talk. Who knows? Maybe they’ll be a good team.
NJ- At least the Harbites on the anti Jed blog have opinions. I’m OK with that. I do disagree but still respect that they come strong. I don’t blog there because of their disrespect and off kilter opinions for those whoi disagree. At least they don’t beat around the bush like you do. At some point you have to have an opinion and state it. How could we know if you need deriding and by whom if you don’t state an opinion. You need to grow a pair.
My opinion is, we lacked Offense and needed to improve that aspect of the game Berger.
If an opinion is to speculate, I’m not in that Camp.
It is what it is.
Jed made his call as the Owner of the team I’ve followed for most of my life.
I can’t change what took place anymore than I can speculate on why it took place.
I watch, I see things that needed to improve.
Jed obviously wasn’t happy either.
I don’t swing to extremes in life. I seek a reasonable answer to the problems that confront me.
Tomsula is here now.
I have to live with it.
He doesn’t immediately answer my need for a better Offense however.
That piece? I’ll hope for success with the changes on the rest of the Staff.
If you feel the need to deride me, have at it.
I call it as I see it too.
Controlled passing, quicker tempo and improvement with Kaep’s touch should all help in that regard.
I only deride you for not having an opinion. You are a class act. That is why I love you as a friend no matter your opinion or non opinion. Your patronizing is what I’m calling out. I do not like being patronized. I’d rather be told the truth as one sees it.
Is Jed a meddler? What say you? The answer is yes or no, and of course, it would just be your opinion. I doesn’t make anything a fact. I would like to know your opinion, if you have a pair.
I just tried to post this and it disappeared.
Answer? Honestly?
I don’t know what he’s doing behind the scenes.
That’s the speculation aspect of this debate.
I want the GM to run this, or any Organization in the NFL.
We all know how it works in DC with Snyder.
Is Jed Dan Snyder?
At this moment I don’t think so.
Is he Jerruh?
Again, no, because he’s got a GM here.
As an Owner, I want him to provide a stable environment for the guys he’s hired to operate in.
Don’t Tweet, don’t interfere.
Let the football guys handle the football business.
When Jed tweeted I felt if extremely necessary and perfect timing.. Didn’t you pick up the phone and call me after Baalke’s daughter tweeted. I do say that was not a tweet I would have advised to send. But both you and I were loving it. We both hated the offensive play design.
Grow a fucking pair? Berger, you’d welcome back Alex Smith if the Niners traded for him tomorrow.
BTW, how’s that date with your daughter and Ray McDonald going?
But he’s innocent.
Actually, I think it is the girlfriend who is nuts and Ray handled all it wrong by letting her get to him. He does need some counseling by family who cares and not a psychiatrist who just wants billable hours. I do not think McDonald would harm anyone but he screwed up in a liberal society. He will pay dearly. His career is probably over. Yes, I would let my daughter date Ray McDonald.
Meanwhile Rome burns. Yes it was a great city but Nero begged to differ. Oh well ……things happen.
I agree opinions are great not only on blogs but in everyday life. We all have them. The only real way for me to form an opinion is by seeing, reading, hearing, and feeling what I believe to be the truth. Whether I am delusional or not really makes no difference since it’s personal and very subjective. I honestly believe that it’s a real good possibility Harbaugh was out of control. But at this point who really gives a shit. Personally I don’t feel the need for my opinions to be proved correct because until we actually get some real facts it’s pretty much all bullshit from both sides of the fence.
Yep. The only reason I want NJ’s opinion on whether he thinks Jed is a meddler is he keeps bringing up the question. Since he wants to keep bringing it up, declare an opinion. Like you said, it doesn’t make anything fact, it just gives us a perspective when he brings it up.
Berger- Please keep those opinions coming because in the end perspective will prove very important. After all it isn’t a left or right situation.
“Who gives a shit” exactly Winder, exactly…
Reno, you mentioned my league FF championship a few years back. I’m intensely proud of that team. I was 2 games under .500 with 2 games to play. Winning the last 2, I tied for 4th-6h in the league (8 teams) and made the playoffs on tiebreak by about 2 or 3 points – lol. Kicked butt in the 2 game playoffs.
That season reminded me of my childhood bigtime. I was lucky enough to play on several champ teams in youth league baseball and basketball before hangin’ ’em up for academics. One early year in baseball, our league was divided into two half seasons with a one game playoffs at the end.
First half, we went 1-8. Meanwhile, the league juggernaut went 9-0, including a butt-whipping of us.
Second half, we got our stuff together, 7-1 going into the last game. Team Juggernaut meanwhile was 8-0.
That’s right, it set up a last game of the season between 8-9 us vs. 17-0 them. We kicked their ass, a 5-0 shutout by my buddy Paul Stange. That won us the second half on tiebreak and set up the champ game between us and them. We kicked their ass again.
I’ve always remembered that season and used it as one of those never-give-up inspirational memories in my life. That FF season brought back happy memories.
RT- thanks for sharing. My little league team never won squat but they are still great memories. And, FF is one of the most frustrating things I have ever done. Last few years I just take it with a grain of salt. Hope dennis decides to do it again this year.
Thanks Winder, I expected a big collective yawn from everybody, but I figured Reno might get a kick out of it. I’m sure he has similar stories. It was memorable David over Goliath.
RT- Good story. You came from behind to win the championship and shocked the heavily favored Del Mar Dennis team in the semis. Your run was kind of like the Warriors run of 1975 when they swept the heavily favored Bullits in the finals!
Now that I’ve been thinking about it our main starting pitcher’s dad was the coach of the team and his kid couldn”t pitch his way out of a paper bag. We were a perennial .500 team. Luckily some of the other teams pitchers were just as bad.
Reno, I forgot to add the interesting thing in the story for me. I was on some juggernaut teams myself, in both baseball and basketball, but I remember very little about those teams. I remember the 8-9 team that won the champs by beating 17-0 twice straight.
I’m still more impressed by an old friend of mine who struck out Barry Bonds in a Senior League game. He said that team was coached by Bobby Bonds and had all black guys – all stars – from the peninsula. My friend said they got creamed, Barry hit two triples off of him, but he DID strike him out.
Funny the stuff you remember at our age.
Lets all pray for Dennis. The man is not happy. His favorite team has disappointed him. He’s angry. I hope his duck friends mellow him out a bit.
Yes, hopefully this years offense will renew a spark of joy to Dennis.
Bogut is freakin’ useless. I rewatched Game 1 this afternoon, now this pathetic lack of effort. Where’s Kurt Rambis when you need him?
OT – again! Great job by the Warriors to come back in the last couple minutes. Bogut on the bench the whole time, thank God.
Sir Spit wakes ready to do battle with Chuck. Of course he has to put down his favorite book,” Attila a life of Conquest” Good stuff he thinks to himself. Now for the task at hand!
Here are a couple of tweets from a guy named Kyle McClorg.
Source: midway thru 2014, York walked into meeting Harbaugh was holding w/ players, & Harbaugh told Jed that the meeting was for “men only”
Certainly not the beginning of the animosity, but the source said it was a major breaking point in the Harbaugh-York relationship.
These tweets were from yesterday. This is from the guy who helped break the Willis retirement story. I can’t imagine any coach could say this to an owner and keep his job.
Off season blues … And now 25 year old Anthony Davis ??? Now there’s an article suggesting we trade away kaep. Holy crap maybe our own local duck herding madman Dennis was right all along
We wouldn’t be worrying about these retirements and all the other BS if the Mayan prophecy would have come to fruition back in 2012.
Those fuckers let me down.
yeah, those Mayans were quite the comedians.
Yeah those guys played for keeps. Ouch! And they built everything without the wheel.
Go DUBS!
Gotta love those Giants too. I like the way they draft. The game really is about pitching.
Big game tonight for the Warriors.
Steph should come back hard in a big way. Thompson played well til foul trouble.
Refs were terrible.
You know you raised your kids right when they send you videos of the Tedeschi Trucks show they were at…
And when your kids get 49er tats too Chuck 😀
Brings a tear to ‘Ol Dads’ eye…..
To think, once upon a time I was accused of being the ONLY 9er fan in NJ.
NJ49er Baby!
HYUK!
Nope no tats for the kids.
Great job by Hestom for the no no in New York.
Hate to day it but Kerr has o bench curry. He is doing nothing.
In what appears to be the most monumentally retarded post by anyone on the face of the earth, because Eric Reid expressed his concern about his concussions, Bullit thinks Reid is grandstanding.
The guy has had concussions in college and the pros, and, gee, players are having major problems because of CTE and multiple concussions, but no,Reid is playing to the media.
Bullit must truly be senile. Yeah, all these health pronls and suicides are imaginary.
One of my ALL time fave’s Chuck…
Another great performance from a great show. Billy Gibbons is a huge Peter Green fan and you can tell in this arrangement. Absolutely amazing. There aren’t many bands that do this kind of stuff any more.
Aerosmith takes a shot at it too…..
Fleetwood Mac’s early stuff is timeless, it’s as good today as it was then. Definitely woven into my character. I was heartbroken when Green decided to spin off.
Sir Spit is probably enjoying some 76 Guy Lombardo classics. “Oh those were the days!” he thinks to himself.
oops……..78
Yeah they went pop.
Chuck – Not right away they didn’t Killin House was pretty much old school rock & roll with some twists. Kirwin (SP) really got into the buddy holly stuff and rock of that nature.
