Reports out of 4949 Centennial Blvd. is that the 49ers are instituting a much more up-tempo offense. Jim Tomsula is stressing tempo tempo tempo. their first play from their first scrimmage was a screen pass. Can I get an amen? I’ve only been saying for, oh about 9 years now is that we need to run screens. as well as quick-tempo plays like slants. These types of plays have certainly disappeared under the Harbaugh era, and I think opposing defenses took advantage of this by not scheming for it.
The good news out of the recent coaching purge, at least to me, is the fact that the new guys are of a mind to speed things up. QB coach Steve Logan is heavily versed in the West Coast Offense, and the Geepster certainly has run across it. Beyond that, losing the 4-headed play calling scheme that Harbaugh reportedly had will be greatly appreciated. The 2-plays-in-the-huddle deal will also not be missed. I’ve seen enough delay-of-games and burned time outs to stop a room full of clocks.
Again, and this bears repeating, I have no idea what the Geepster truly brings as an OC, but at this point I like what I’m hearing. The D has a solid set of coaches and players, so I think we will be good there, but the offense is an enigma wrapped in a riddle at this point.
Forty Niners Forever 
It’s all about wait and see now. I am real curious to see how our running game is gonna look like. First year rb’s rarely make much of an impact so it’s most likely up to Hyde and Hunter, throw in Bush and it could be fun. If we run the WCO we should be able to wear out most defenses and stay on the field for the majority of the time. Kappy is the key to everything
Yeah, changing the blocking scheme will be the biggest hurdle. Straight-ahead to zone shouldn’t be too too hard. At least we gave a more agile line with Iupati gone.
my feeling is, Geep went to Princeton and I will give a smart guy the benefit of the doubt. He’s not some dumbass Jimmy Hat guy.

I’d like to be excited but its hard when I have nothing to go on. I do know for sure Harbaugh was going backwards and was stubborn as hell to go along with his receding success. I do feel good about the change of coaches.

During regular-season games when Harbaugh was the coach, the Niners would routinely break the huddle with about 22 seconds on the clock and get to the line of scrimmage with 15 seconds or fewer remaining. That was hardly enough time to execute motions and shifts and read the defense.
During Thursday’s practice, the Niners made sure they were getting to the line of scrimmage with more than 20 seconds left on the play clock.
“Sometimes we break the huddle at 30 (seconds),” left tackle Joe Staley said after practice, per Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee. “Honestly, last year it was pretty miserable as far as clock management and what we were doing.”
In the past, the Niners offense put pressure on itself by constantly battling the play clock. Its new uptempo approach will put the pressure where it belongs—on the opposing defense.”
Rick Neuheisel was on the Dan Patrick show a few days ago. He told a story coaching against Harbaugh in the Pac-10. He said he beat Harby in Harby’s first year. Harbaugh did not come over to shake hands after the game and was nowhere to be seen. Stanford won the next year and Jimbo hit him very hard on the back and said “How’d you like that Ricky!” A few years later he was watching pro football and saw Harby do it Jim Schwartz. He said when he saw it he started to yell “That SOB did it again!”.

Between spitty blogging under different names everywhere and Bullit trolling here under different names just make me feel bad for their sad existences.
The overarching need to dig up 5 year old posts to caper about is baffling. Then sgain, fucking with Bullit is a vice that I just have too much fun with.

Well like I said, at least speeding up the tempo should help. Screens, slants. The bland offense going away should give you some hope, bergs.
I said all year if Harbaugh doesn’t do something about the offense he should be fired. I know many disagree but I’m glad that the one person who matters the most agreed with me, Jed the owner.
It’s the same way I felt about Mark Jackson of the Warriors. I know it was risky to fire a winning coach but sometimes a coach hits his peak and it’s time to move on. With Harbaugh it was definitely time to move on. Let’s just hope it works as well for the 49ers as it did for the Warriors.
Yeah, some of us were calling for Roman’s replacement a couple years ago. Not sure why Harbs stuck to Roman so hard. There were obviously issues with 3rd down conversion rates, 3 and out issues, and the whole getting plays in on time deal. Jackson was undone by his casting off of assistants and using his yes-men. Plus his abrasive and holier-than-thou attitude.

Sir Spit wakes up and is ready to battle his favorite adversary, Chuck on the Skeeber’s blog. He relishes his role and stokes up by consuming two big lemons to get in the right mood. “Got to get that sour taste in my mouth” he talks to himself. “Boy will I let Chuck have it today!”
