Well, so Much for Chud

Word is Rob Chudzinski signed a deal this morning to stay with the Colts. Not sure why they dragged this out, but that road is closed.

*gulp*

I hope these guys have a Plan B. I mentioned Mike Sanford from Boise State as a possible guy, and NJ named a few as well, but there are a million guys to pick from should we go that route.

If it is the Geepster, I fear we are in big trouble.

Go big or go home Chuck.

I’m all for a College guy with some fresh ideas.
Recycling the same old guys isn’t getting me excited for the future anytime soon.

  2. Counting down the minutes until Baalke spews out…
“We had Geep earmarked the entire time. Geep was #1 on our board throughout this entire process. The 49ers are confident in Geep’s ability to run an offense and the relationship he has with Colin brings an added dimension. Geep brings great energy, stability and continuity to this offense. Geep’s a teacher, blah, blah, blah, blah.”

    STFU

  3. I don’t know why they’re even bothering looking for an OC? I thought Baalke was going to call the plays this season.

He seems to be doing everything else.

    • NJ49er says:

He’s the GM Del, busy guy.
But, no thanks with the play calling.
Stick to finding qualified pieces to improve the roster.

Most of all, keep Jed as far away as humanly possible.

  4. Berger says:

NJ’s idea sounds interesting. Auburn runs a spread but runs all over Alabama. They pass all over Alabama too. My kind of offense! It is based on getting playmakers the ball in space so they can make plays. Basically, the Bill Walsh theory of offense.

  5. Nipper says:

All the Niners need is a warm body. That shouldn’t be too hard to find. Shanahan to the rescue!

  6. unca_chuck says:

Yeah. Shanny would be perfect based on his stellar work with RG III.

If they go the retread route, I’ll be very disappointed.

I fear they will, though. Jimmy Hat?

Christ, get Chris Ault. I don’t care how old he is.

  7. Alleykat says:

Well I’ll take Ault with his offensive mind anyday, over Jed & Baakle prime choice of bringing back Uncle Fester, “Jimmy 3 runs and a cloud of dust Raye”!!!

  8. Irish Kevin says:

What is Mike Martz doing these days, he did alright with K Warner.

    • Winder says:

Yeah, once they get his medication controlled Martz might actually not be a bad pick.

      • Winder says:

Those seven step drop back passes would probably have to be put under consideration. Our OL is dinged up enough.

  9. Winder says:

At this point maybe just go pick up the first hitchhiker on the Lawrence expressway. Hell, they would already have a few assistant coach at ready.

  10. Alleykat says:

Are better Winder just back up a pickup truck at Any Home Depot and you get your whole staff& players comprede..

  11. rtfirefly says:

I’m a big fan of Mad Mike. It’s not his fault Cutler’s a friggin idiot. But he already got fired by the Niners once, in favor of the Real Mad Mike. I don’t think he’d give up his cushy job to slog through more Niner Ineptitude.

  12. unca_chuck says:

Not gonna happen. Someone said Charlie Weiss? If there is a God, no.

    • NJ49er says:

I’ve thrown Weiss out there in recent months Chuck.
At least he knows the Pro game if nothing else.
I’d take him over Shanny Sr if it came to a toss-up.

  13. NJ49er says:

Mike Leach at Washington State, formerly Crabtrees’ HC at Tx Tech, would be the ‘New Age’ Mad Mike.
Probably wouldn’t go over well in the NFL but, it would be entertaining for awhile.
    Like Martz, he’s a pass-happy nutcase.

Seeing as they hired an ex-NFLE colleague of Tomsula’s, Steve Logan, I’d guess he’s a Plan B OC option right now.
Given the comparisons to Foerster, Chryst and Sparanos’ records, Logan might be a better risk.

I’m a little disappointed to see Aubrayo Franklin hired ahead of Bryant Young though.

    • Berger says:

Franklin was a one gapping NT who Nolan tried to turn into a two gapper. He was passable but got washed out often. When Nolan was fired he was able to one gap a lot more. He had a great year. He is an underachiever who had to learn a lot of technique that was not natural for him. Those kind of guys often make for great coaches. He should do well.

  14. NJ49er says:

Former Ohio St OC, Tom Herman just got hired to run the U of Houston football program.
He’d be another guy I would’ve put on the list of potential College candidates for SF OC.

No way they’d get him now but, in another year or 2, he might not be a bad candidate to consider.

  15. unca_chuck says:

Well, Weiss or Shanny? that’s choosing between getting kicked in the face or getting kicked in the nuts, NJ.

    • NJ49er says:

Maiocco is suggesting that Eagles WR Coach Bob Bicknell could be in play, for OC as well.
Stay tuned, the search goes on.

Hoping Quinn rapes the Seattle Staff next week, which puts them in the backseat for Coaching adjustments as well.

I think as 9er Fans, we’ve already been kicked in the berries, punched in the face and left for dead over the years.
      So? What else is new?

  16. NJ49er says:

Interesting background for WR Coach Bob Bicknell of the Eagles.

Appears to have some serious mileage on his resume, where he crossed paths with Tomsula in NFLE.

Worked with Stevie Johnson in Buffalo too.
Had successful running production, won 3 straight Titles while in NFLE, Coached OL/TE/WR positions too.
Not a bad candidate if this turns out to be a legit inquiry.

  17. Nipper says:

Kicked in the face or being kicked in the nuts……..? Chuck declares doomsday is here!

  18. unca_chuck says:

At this point, NJ, any port in a storm. I like that Bicknell has worked well with WRs and has worked with different aspects of the offense. OL, TEs, RBs, and WRs.

Just get someone inked. They’ve had enough time to get this done. He seems like a good choice.

Oh well. Eagles are blocking interviews . . .

  19. unca_chuck says:

Right. It doesn’t mean they stop looking while waiting though. Which seems to be the case.

  20. Nipper says:

Chuck pleads on bended knees…….”please get someone inked…..anyone…my dog is volunteering!”

  21. Berger says:

It looks like it is time for Logan’s run. We just signed Steve Logan as our QB coach.

Somebody tell Unca we inked somebody!

  22. unca_chuck says:

Great. This is like building your house starting with the roof.

  23. unca_chuck says:

    Bicknell’s out as well.

  24. Berger says:

The Bills did something that maybe we should have done. Roman is the OC but he is only in charge of the running game. Somebody else is in charge of the passing game.

According to Vic Carrucci: New #Bills OC Greg Roman will concentrate mainly on run game. QB coach David Lee & WR coach Sanjay Lal will focus on passing game.

  25. unca_chuck says:

Oh boy. Say hello to the Geepster.

Well, here we go with a bunch of naybes.

Can’t say I’m very happy with this but who knows? All they really need to so is make the passing game work better.

    How hard is that?
