Well, the good news is, we can talk to Rob Chudzinzki now. The bad news? Uhh, the Green Bay Packers tried to play a 55 minute football game, and succeeded. It was those last 5 minutes that sucked. Green Bay inexplicably turtled up when Morgan Burnett decided to lay down after a pick and a mile of green grass in front of him. Green Bay then went into full stupid mode by running up the middle 3 times, and give Seattle the ball right back with a breath-taking 30 yard punt.
After harassing Wilson all day, GB then decides to lay back and play coverage. Naturally it takes Seattle one minute to score. Throw in Green Bay’s Preston Riley moment (hello Brandon Bostick), and yet more soft defense (how do you float a ball 30 feet in the air that no one can lay a hand on on the 2 pt conversion?) and you have 15 points scored in 30 seconds. thus negating the entire excellent game played by the GB defense. Well, except for the amazingly stupid call to rush 3 on a 3rd and 19 play (from a 2nd and 30 set up by a Clay Matthews sack of RW), and allow a 30 yard pass to Doug Baldwin to sustain Seattle’s first TD drive.
This game was in essence a microcosm of the 49er season. Terrible red zone offense, Playing not to lose from ahead, ultra-conservative play calling, and going away from what has worked all day. What irked me is the fact that GB had pressured Wilson all day and forced picks because of pressure. Naturally in crunch time when they needed to pressure him most, they go soft and drop into coverage. When they need a couple first downs to seal the game, they go up the middle 5 out of 6 times for two 3-and-outs. The incomplete pass hit the TE who wasn’t looking for the ball. Huh?
It’s bad enough to take the ball out of Aaron Rodgers’ hands, but that play calling shit was perplexing in the least. GB had run fairly well, but those kinds of situations are begging for play action and misdirection. Not the most basic of plays that are easy to defend, and which Seattle is definitely looking for. Add a couple of special teams lapses, and you have ‘one of the greatest playoff games ever”. Please. Green Bay gave it away. Falling for a fake FG? Utter stupidity. In the end, Green Bay Yorked it up badly.
Chud like TEs in his passing game and newton thrived in his time under Chud.
Works for me.
Ah Chud you!
👍👍👍
So, who do the Niners take at pick #15?
DT Malcom Brown, Texa$.
Fangio to the Bears, per ESPN.
And the Niners play the Bears next season
Hey Phil, you’re a cool dude an all but lordy you’re kicking that dead horse something fierce bro.
Just sayin!
The great Mangina is angling to be our DC. He sure beats Dennis Allen or Tarver.
Could work Chuck.
Berger the Safety Class I’m suggesting is more for the guy that replaces Bethea.
Could be that LJ McCray might come along too.
This year’s Safety class appears to be heavier in RDs 2-4.
Landon Collins from ‘Bama is likely the only kid with a 1st RD grade.
The CB I mentioned to you from WKY, Cam Thomas could qualify as a SS too.
Might find him later.
As I’ve said forever, the Draft process is ALL about the slotting.
Scouts and Draft Pundits all like to attach a ‘Grade’ of where that kid ‘Ranks’ but, the GMs have the job of tying that rank, to their slot or, where they feel he can be had.
That’s the rub.
Hence, BPA seems to work the best.
Trying to match a position of need, to the slot you’re expecting to see him is never an easy approach.
NJ- Just keep doing your typical good job. I was thinking if you were reading something that had their opinion on their projected draft round you could share. Sometimes they say sometimes they don’t.
Got another DT for you Berger.
In the event we miss, or pass on Malcolm Brown or, take another position in RD1.
This kid is from Fresno State.
Tyeler Davison – 6’2″ 315
Close in size to Malcolm Brown and seems to be slated for RDs 4/5.
A kid rated right now in RD2 is Xavier Cooper from Wash St. 6’4″ 300.
He’s listed with an interesting attribute as being a penetrator.
I think there’s a good number of options on the DL this year.
Could be the reason we’re hearing talk of switching to the 4-3?
It’s easy to get the raw numbers on these kids Berger.
I try to compare multiple opinions from the various sites I get my info from just to see what people say about the kids.
I usually post those opinions when I find something interesting.
I’ve got lots of work to do.
My Son keeps me on my toes 😀
One guy I want on Ballke’s Draft Board this Spring is WR Jamison Crowder from Duke.
He’s a little dude but, he’d be an excellent option as our PR/KR guy.
Kid is non-stop.
Baalke is on the job in Mobile this week Scouting the Senior Bowl.
Wish I could be there too just to see and hear the Scouts doing their evals.

Click on the Roster Link and you can get some interesting Bio info on the kids involved.
Speaking of Crowder.
His QB, Anthony Boone, would be a kid I’d consider for development in the later RDs.
Kid threw for 2700yds this season.
Worked under Cutcliffe too, so you know he’s had good Coaching.
Coming from Duke, you’d assume he’s intelligent too.
Only knock on him is his height, 6’1″, which is still taller than Russell.
He’s also a much more polished pocket passer coming from Cutcliffes’ system.
Best part of Skeebs blog for the last month or so? The links.
Phil, you misunderstand. It’s not whether I agree with what you keep posting, It’s that you keep posting the same thing in a never ending loop. Boring brother. I can’t imagine anybody reading your posts not understanding your POV on Harbaugh, jed, Baalke.
Have to give Skeebs blog a miss for a while. Too boring and depressing.
Just my 2c
Mangina for DC? Bears asked Niners for permission to talk to Geep Chyst (sp?) for the OC position.
Have to assume the Niners were/still are waiting for some candidates to become available to interview.
You guys see that Grant Cohn T.V. interview about the Niners and Raiders?
Kid is trying to be the shock jock of sports analysis in the Bay.
http://49ers.pressdemocrat.com/grant-kron/
I just found out why I never read or listen to Grant Cohn. BTW, is that a mullet he is sporting for a haircut? This guy is a load of laughs!
Chud can’t interview for any OC postions.
Stop the bus! Turns out Chuds contract with the Colts expires next week so its up to him.
If his contract is up next week and the Colts are blocking him from interviewing, something must be up. Would they fire their coach and install Chud as HC? Are they wooing him with flowers and raises? More power? Hmmm? It’s an odd little game the Colts are playing if something isn’t being tried to retain him.
Well, that’s good news.
Yeah you’d think if they didn’t want him, they’d release him to get a deal now.
Maybe it ain’t good news.
That news regarding Chud is deflating like the footballs Bella-cheat provides..
Well the good news…there isn’t any.
The bad news… Niners hire Jason Tarver for Asst DC? and TE coach!!
Kiss off Chud probably Chuck..
He’s neither. He’s LB coach/ assistant
For me, this still hinges largely on what guy comes in to develop Kaep and put an Offense around him.
If they fail to improve that facet of the team, it’s going to be a LONG recovery period I’m afraid.
Chud makes sense, if they can land him, or Gase.
After that?
Who eff’n knows what other options are out there?
Well, scratch Gase.
Looks like he’s joining Fox in Chi-Town.
Been poking around the College ranks with all this Lane Kiffen talk going on.
Granted he’s got NFL experience but, I’d still pass.
If we take a leap of faith (desperation) into the College level, Gus Malzahn from Auburn is being paid VERY well, which likely means he’s not going anywhere.
His system is very intriguing though, having married a power running game to the Spread.
However, his OC/QB Coach looks interesting.
Rhett Lashlee.

Slow night, I’m taking a break from Draft Scouting 😛
Berger there’s a couple of DTs turning heads in Mobile this week.
Marcus Hardison – AZ St 6’3″/311 and Carl Davis – Iowa 6’5″/321
Danny Shelton is having a good week too.
Saying he’s been damn near unstoppable.
The OG from Duke, Laken Tomlinson – 6’3″ 323 handled him very well in 1-on-1 drills though.

If Baalke opts for a WR in RD1, there’s good depth on the DL to be had in the Top 3 RDs.
This is where that slotting principle keeps GMs up at night.
