Game Day! Playoffs for Breakfast! Carolina Payback

Here we go. A shot at our 3rd NFC Championship game in a row. We do know that to get to the Super Bowl we would have to go through Seattle. Stop me if you think the Seahawks were pretty nondescript in their win. If not for the fumble, the Saints could have taken over in the 2nd half and won. And if Marcus Colston didn’t have the biggest brain fart in sports history, well, they could have tied it.

Anyhow, as much I would have loved to see the championship come here, it would be a certain kind of special to beat Seattle in the Ding dome next week. Today? Well the biggest thing we need is a better showing by the offensive line. Mike Iupati was dinged up, and of course VD got dinged up early and Celek was out as well. I think Eric Reid went out as well, and Aldon Smith was just returning from his rehab. And Crabs of course. The biggest missing piece. With all that, the Niners were a near-completion to V McD that was broken up from kicking a game winning FG.

Surprising in the 2nd game was the effectiveness of LeGarrette Blount. Indy’s defense was great at keeping Brady out of the end zone, but not the running backs. For all the injuries NE has overcome, they are doing a pretty good job of things.

For once can we have a laugher?

The book on Indy is to run Chuck.
Had KC not lost JCharles early or, continued to run with the lead, they likely would’ve won that game last week.

RFJ isn’t very stout inside as we already knew.
All that matters now is, win in Carolina today.
Worry about the NFCC game when we get there.

Gotta throw successfully in this one I’d say.

  3. 2AM game here so early to bed but before that making note that Del Mar and Barley aced the first half of the exam today while Chuck, twin & shaman are 1-1. So far everyone is picking the Niners and Chuck, Phil and Twin say SD and barley and shaman like da Bronks for the win.

May the better prognosticator(s) win tomorrow. May the force be with the Red and Gold!

maybe I’ve got my head up my ass on this one, but I see us winning this one by more than a td. I’ll say 27-17. Outside of Cam, the Panthers simply don’t have any weapons. Certainly nothing that can beat our lock down D. In fact, getting to 17 points will be a major chore for them.
San Diego’s run has come to an end. Denver 38 SD 14

Yeah, with Steve Smith hobbled/gimpy/out, I don’t see Carolina getting many points either. Besides, DeAngelo Williams is due a critical fumble.

    I guess I could consider my 24-14 a laugher . . .

My biggest concern as I said above is the O line play. I wonder if Carolina starts the game by overloading against the run. Not sure why we were so bad that game, but Kappy had little time to throw. And he couldn’t break contain when the passes broke down. It was his most tentative game.

We would seem to be the better team, but I would never take a road playoff game lightly.

We’ll win, I *think* – but I believe we only will win if we bring our “A” game. No looking past the Panthers to the Showdown in Seattle, no underestimating them.

It’s all sudden death this time of year. We cannot afford a flat performance in the playoffs – and we’ve had too many of those in the Harbaugh Era. Some we overcame with big comebacks… and some we didn’t.

This coaching staff needs to show they can have a team ready to play in January. Harbaugh has something to prove these next few weeks.

    17-14 Niners
    31-24 Broncos

  9. Has anyone even brought up the fact that this is a 10 AM west coast start? I don’t believe it’s been a problem or even a huge factor this year, but it’s been a big bugaboo in the past. I wouldn’t be surprised if we stumbled out of the gate and lost a few steps at the start today.

That being said, I honestly think we *should* win somewhat handily. Say 10-14 pts. or so. That’s probably not a good thing if I think we should win. But don’t worry. In keeping with the times I won’t pick us to win. I’ll take another playoff prediction loss for the team. The team. The team. The team.

    Think we should win: 27-16
    Predict we’ll lose: 19-16

    Good luck you mooks.

Good Morning gentlemen…and chuck…and all the Mooks too. Didn’t see what I posted prviousely: I am going all in on this game, Niners 28 – Carolina 10. The Niner D stops Cam cold.

  11. The dude on the trumpet nailed our National Anthem. Let’s hope our Niners play as well as he did.

Like the way yer thinking, Kevin. I just want a fast start to take the crowd out early.

One of the better nat anthems I’ve heard.

  14. No joke: my doc started me on blood pressure meds on Friday. 180/112
He asked me about my diet. Said diet’s not the problem, it’s a certain team that plays on Sundays. Maybe the alcohol slightly factors in as well.

  16. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

  18. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Nice ], they are giving Kappy short outlets.

  19. Two HUGE 3rd dn conversion by Kap & Co. to start off.
