Game Day! Playoffs for Breakfast! Carolina Payback

Here we go. A shot at our 3rd NFC Championship game in a row. We do know that to get to the Super Bowl we would have to go through Seattle. Stop me if you think the Seahawks were pretty nondescript in their win. If not for the fumble, the Saints could have taken over in the 2nd half and won. And if Marcus Colston didn’t have the biggest brain fart in sports history, well, they could have tied it.

Anyhow, as much I would have loved to see the championship come here, it would be a certain kind of special to beat Seattle in the Ding dome next week. Today? Well the biggest thing we need is a better showing by the offensive line. Mike Iupati was dinged up, and of course VD got dinged up early and Celek was out as well. I think Eric Reid went out as well, and Aldon Smith was just returning from his rehab. And Crabs of course. The biggest missing piece. With all that, the Niners were a near-completion to V McD that was broken up from kicking a game winning FG.

Surprising in the 2nd game was the effectiveness of LeGarrette Blount. Indy’s defense was great at keeping Brady out of the end zone, but not the running backs. For all the injuries NE has overcome, they are doing a pretty good job of things.

For once can we have a laugher?

I hope Andy Lee is not our emergency quarterback, ever. 🙂

  2. Grumpy Guy says:

Sloppy coverage / tackling there on Ginn, but its too late to matter.

  3. unca_chuck says:

Wow. A little more arm and that;s a TD.

  4. Grumpy Guy says:

    So. Seattle. Again.

  5. Grumpy Guy says:

Colin Kaerpernick now has as many road playoff victories as John Brodie, Joe Montana, and Steve Young, COMBINED.

  6. unca_chuck says:

    Seattle here we come!

  7. Irish Kevin says:

Oh hell, damn near nailed the score!! Ha ha excellent adjustments made at half time!

  8. Barley is 3-0 in the big ass guess-a-thon

  9. Irish Kevin says:

You know watching these 2 playoff games, it appears that the game plan is to pass the ball more in the first half to keep 8 in the box from happening. When they do run in the first half the RB’s are stopped, Gore had very few yards in the first half. Then the second half was a better mix of run and Pass. Leaning more to the run.

  10. 12th man says:

3 years in a fucking row NFC Champ game

  11. Del Mar’s opening line vs SEA. Seattle -4 with an O/U of 40 1/2.

Let’s see what LV has to say…

  12. Flavor says:

JH first coach to lead his team to conference championship first 3 years since merger. So, obviously, let’s fire Harbaugh. #idiotninerfans

  13. unca_chuck says:

Let out a bunch of spamm,ed tuff, Still don’t know why it ramdomly picks shit out.

  14. unca_chuck says:

This is pretty crazy Grump. Hard to believe that Young never won a road playoff game.

  15. So I know Chuck is rooting with every fiber of his being for Denver to lose so he can throw the Peyton Manning playoff record in my face. Who else is doing that just to spite me? Fess up and I’ll respect you 100x more.

  16. unca_chuck says:

I have no clue. It wasn’t GB.

  17. Manning is gonna choke this one away Del Mar

  18. Irish Kevin says:

Yeah I have to say that I have hated Denver ever since John Elway said he would play baseball if Indy gets him in the draft!!! Indy traded the pic to Denver! So yeah I hate Denver!!

  19. Manning changed that last play call TWICE at the LOS and forced SD into a time out.
Foreshadowing of things to happen in the Super Bowl?

  20. sandy32koufax says:

Did Rivers just throw a hissy fit?

  21. Irish Kevin says:

San Francisco, which has now won eight straight games including its final six in the regular season, had never before won consecutive road playoff games. Their 13th championship game appearance in Seattle will represent an NFL all-time high.

  22. twinfan1 says:

Did anyone nail the score? If Dawson would miss a frigging FG every once in awhile I might have had it. What was the prize, Chuck? Oh.

  23. unca_chuck says:

Since the merger, the Niners are 5-9 in NFC champ games?by far the most appearances since the merger.

  24. 12th man says:

Niners have been playing the best football for the last 6 weeks. If Seattle plays at the same level that they did against NO the Niners will own them.

  25. GB beat Niners 1997 in NFC Championship game according to the link above. Young the QB?

  26. Jesus H. Christ. You guys are mumbling and fumbling over whether or not anyone got the exact score right today in their prediction. Stop trying to nail a score. You wanna score? Trying nailing a 30-year-old Ann-Margret.

  27. Blame that Red Zone INT on Peyton to end the half.
I know I would if that was Alex. 😛

  28. Did he make that? I’m still not certain that FG was good.

  29. Figures my one legit last comment gets filter to to spam.

    Spam spelled backwards is “maps.”

Anyone else ever sell “Maps to the Stars?”

  30. unca_chuck says:

Sandawgs are right back in it.

  31. unca_chuck says:

And Dennis spelled backwards is Sinned. That is why you are going to hell, Catholic boy

  32. NoFear49er says:

SD’s defense would be a lot better tonight if they could wait for first movement before jumping. Manning’s making them look like chumps with his hard count.

  33. It’s going to be Brady vs Manning in the AFC Championship Game.
I can’t hold back the pre-cum. It’s time for the money shot! 😛

  34. unca_chuck says:

Don’t count yer chickens yet. Denver’s defense has a lot more deep balls to give up.

  35. Peyton Manning at his finest on the curl to TE JT.
    Trust.
And then he throws on 1st dn?
good thing Tom Brady will be the future prez, and not he.

  36. unca_chuck says:

San Diego blows a golden opportunity to get the ball back.

  37. Flavor says:

Really, I can’t remember a more perfect 2 championship games. . Peyton vs Brady? Niners going back to Seattle? This is insane.

  38. unca_chuck says:

Speaking of blowing a load, Goodie Goodell is ready to launch. This is the best match up he ever could have hoped for.

  39. unca_chuck says:

The ratings will be through the roof.

  40. 12th man says:

What a great weekend of football and next weekend looks to be just as good. Seriously looking forward to beating the Squawks next week, so sick of their schtick. Usurpers.

  41. unca_chuck says:

Just noticed the flop by Newton on the Brooks encroachment. No Oscar for you!

  42. 12th man says:

It was nice to win a game with a nice cushion in the scoreline for a change too.

  43. Irish Kevin says:

Yeah, we’ll you can bet money that Goodell would rather have SF in the SB than Seatle. Wether it is NE or Denver vs. SF.

  44. NJ49er says:

Chuck do you really think Goodell ‘hoped’ for this matchup?
That’s what HIS ‘Officials’ are there for 🙂

Had Carolina not come out of the gate looking to talk smack and, take cheap shots early on, I don’t think we’d have seen many flags at all today.
But since it got chippy, the Officials gave us the early benefit.
Our guys kept their cool however.
Lot’s of whoofing and cheap shots cost Carolina all day.

Fangio gambled early, by holding off pressure on Cam, in favor of making him hold the ball.
Cam is not real quick in terms of decoding coverages.
Once he holds and thinks, Fangios’ 2nd Half pressure got to him.

Our Defense and OLine got it done today.
    Phenomenal game all around.

  45. snarkk says:

    Keys for me today:
The 2 goal line stands of the Niners. Super job by the D, added great intensity to the team approach the rest of the way…

    • NJ49er says:

Snarkk the DLine blew them up in the goal line stands.
Ahmad has been lights out of late.
Perhaps that bogus call in NO against Brees put him on a mission?

Our OLine got the better of their DLine as the game went on too.
Frank’s run early in the 4th qtr took the steam out of them.

      Great Win.

  46. unca_chuck says:

Seattle is hoping to do what we just did to Carolina and that’s try to get under our skin and force a couple of stupid penalties.

The answer to that is hit ’em hard but do it between the whistles, not after.

  47. 12th man says:

Maybe it’s the norm but I don’t recall teams restricting where they sell tickets before. Both the Squawks and now the Donkeys are not allowing tickets to be sold anywhere close to their opposing teams state.

Chicken shit if you ask me.

  48. unca_chuck says:

Yeah, that’s a new one for me as well. I thought they set aside tickets for the other teams’ fans.

  49. unca_chuck says:

    New thread is up!
