Conventional wisdom seems to be that this game is ripe for the Niners to have some kind of let down. After the physically and emotionally draining victory over the Seahawks, the prevailing thought is that the Niners will have problems handling the Buccaneers. If so, at least it isn’t a division game.
Anyway, for all the travel, the spend emotions, and the early start, the Niners should be able to handle these guys. TB doesn’t have that much offensively, and despite their defensive turnovers, the Niners offense should be able to do more against their defense than they can against ours.
So, that means we win, right?
Haven’t had any easy ones for a while. Let’s hope the rain isn’t bad, and this one is over quickly.

After that big early lead, they were down to 6 playing ultra conservatively. An opponent with a good offense or a big ST play can overtake that in as many heartbeats as it takes to run a hundred yard dash. Playing with fire crawling into a running shell early and/or with
a minimal lead.
Also Dog Sled Dawson (City) is automatic and JH Knows he will get 3 “every time” so ell run it. We didnt have that last year

Good road win. Offense is showing signs of opening things up a little in the passing game. Crabby was wide open a coupla times for long gainers, Kap just didn’t look for him. He needs to start looking for Crabby a little more, Boldin a little less, as Crabby gets his legs in shape. Conservative ass play calling still frosting me. And, shut down that idiotic prevent defense…
One thing i would like to see is shots into the end zone from inside the 20 but it comes with the risk of a TO so be careful what you wish for since getting 3 from Dawson is just about certain and that D can make 3 work.

All about balanced O. Not talking about today’s game particularly but I think the team does leave points on the field sometimes settling for “safe” FG and not risking it for TD’s. That strategy is going to win a lot more games than lose but in the play off’s you can’t lose any.

Good win. Liked them going back to the run in the 4th quarter on the long drive. They only got 3 but it took 10 minutes, and 18 plays.

Scoring differential I mean
Any playoff strategy won’t mean shit if you don’t get in first. Everyone second guessing the guys that orchestrate, observe and evaluate all the practices and games with a microscope is one thing if your team is losing but makes less sense when you just keep winning. Could be we are making the best use of our strengths while working on improving what isn’t so solid while winning as many as possible in the process. That’s what I’d insist on if I were footing the bill.
As long as the the Niners have a SB quality Defense, and an opportunistic special teams they could win in the playoffs. But they do not have a Offense that is capable of coming from behind. You cannot come from behind with the run. Praise the run all you want when you hold a lead. But that won fly playing from behind. We are talking about a win against TB and controlling the clock! No way in NO or Seattle.

I agree, Kap has to step it up now that the receiver corps is as good as it’s going to get this year. He MUST find Crabby open, when he’s open, and not overthrow wide open WRs on long pass plays. The long one to VD was great. More, please. And, open up the damn playbook. Stop the dive handoffs to Frank up the center’s ass on 2nd and 10. More play action instead of shotgun. And, stop this freekin’ time problem calling the plays. Get up to the friggin line and run the play…

Entering this game, Frank was 231 yards shy of the the 10,000 yard mark. In this game he had 86, now just 145 yards to go.
TOP in this game, SF 39:10 to TB 20:10, a Jim Harbaugh type of win. Got to give credit to the coaching staff for avoiding a let down.

Reid had a sea of teammates around him when he picked off a deflected pass at Tampa Bay’s 22-yard line with just under two minutes left, but he eschewed a chance for a touchdown and fell to the ground in the 49ers’ 33-14 win:

Should NO beat Carolina in Carolina in Week 17, that could easily lead to the divisional round of Carolina@Seattle and the Niners@NO (revenge time for the robbery there).
Carolina lost to Seattle 12-7 at the beginning of the season when they were playing like crap. To me, they have the style of play to beat Seattle in Cheatsville.
Oh, I’m goin’ to Carolina in my mind… It’d be fitting to march through the South (OK, Sherman took a different route, but New Orleans to Carolina is certainly scenic and mild this time of year) on the way to El Gran Rodeo in Jersey February 2.

As much as some gripe about our running game here, take a look at what GB and Dallas can’t do to stop it.
Once we officially cement a Playoff position there’s a good chance Dallas can squeak in.
Rather see them over Philly but, if we manage the 6 Seed and have to travel to Philly, a ground game keeps Foles on the sideline.
We can run vs NO and Detroit, GB and Chicago too.

I thought they’d trade up, but I thought they’d trade up for Vacarro.
I was a big fan of the move to get Reid at the time (Bullit is checking my posts as I type this) but no one knows for certain how any college player will play in the pros.
Turns out Reid has been better than Goldigger, who was himself a deserving pro bowl player. Says a ton about Reid to step into those shoes and outgrow them his rookie year.
My big critique on the draft was not taking a CB, which looked like a bad decision with the injuries but has turned out OK in the final analysis with backups and mid season free agents playing well within the Fangio scheme.
