Game Day – Game 13

Will this be lucky 13 for the Niners? Will Kappy get his first win over the Seahawks? Will Harbaugh reverse the recent trend of getting spanked by Pete Carroll and Co? We will fond out soon enough as the hyperbole turns. . .

Beyond the fact this would hurt their playoff chances should they lose, this game has bragging rights, team psyche, and the determination of contender or pretender written all over it. It would further cement the fact that the mantle of best in the west has been shifted north to Seattle after a brief stay in the city by the Bay.

Other than that, just another game.

This game is a measurement game for me.
We play to experiment with some new ideas perhaps?
All about game film for me.

We all know this game isn’t deciding much but, there’s the pride of keeping Seattle from clinching the Division on our turf.

We need to show that we can maintain control of the tempo and keep things from getting out of hand like has happened in the past 2 outings.

Win a close one, get some momentum for the stretch run and, hope we have the chance to play the bigger game against them in January.
I still believe we’re a much better Team than we’ve shown up there.
    We match up pretty well.

Mighty white of me? WTF does that bullshit mean, Chuck? You think that makes you sound PC enough? Was Mandela your hero? Mugabe, too? Not mine.

Here’s a little perspective for you, outside normal PC bubble boundaries. Proceed with caution!!! There’s a real world out there. Some have to deal with it. Others prefer the bubble.

“For the civil rights movement in the United States, with all of its growing agitation and riots and bitterness, and insidious steps towards the appearance of a civil war, has not been infiltrated by the Communists, as you now frequently hear. It has been deliberately and almost wholly created by the Communists patiently building up to this present stage for more than forty years.” – JBS newspaper ads, 10/31/1965.

John Birch Society – honestly, NF? The folks that William F. Buckley, Jr. labeled a radical far right group? Those guys?

Is there anybody who the JBS DOESN’T THINK is Communist? Outside of their own precious selves, of course.

    • NoFear49er's avatar NoFear49er says:

Just an article not many would print these days. But I urge you to look into the history of Mandela’s MK and of the ANC and the Communist Party of South Africa for yuorself if you doubt it RT.

Football anyone? My idea of radical comments is the score calls by Nip and Barley. But oh well… Sounds like we’re in playoff form around heah!

unca_chuck says: 20-16 Niners on a defensive battle in the electric mud of Candlestick. It would do a world of good to beat these guys at home. I’m hoping against hope we can shut them down on offense and get an early lead to build on. Chasing these guys is not a recipe for success. Besides, they have come back in a lot of their wins. They’ve looked bad winning and looked great winning. The point being they are winning. This should be their toughest road game, though. 20-16 Niners.

Irish Kevin says: Niners 30 – Hawks 24

    philippinefan says: 27-24 Niners

rtfirefly says: 27-17 Niners. You heard it here first.
Nipper says: 34-7 Niners. They (Sea) suck.
NJ49er says: 17-13 Niners. I’m not especially convinced our OLine is going to handle things as well I’d expect due to injuries. Hoping we sneak out with a tight Defensive victory

12th man says: 21-17 Niners Phil

Random9erfan says: 22-20 Niners. I feel a Dr. Phil day coming up at the ‘Stick, so I will go with a 49ers 22- 20 win. Slippery Pete’s PharmaChoax are all healthy, and appear ready for the final leg of the season. Though with four weeks remaining, there is still enough time for another suspension or two I have no doubt the Niner defense will be ready…IMO, this game comes down to Kaepernick’s decision making and patience. Yes, Iupati & Staley out will make it that much harder but, if a team has Superbowl aspirations, it’s QB has to overcome adversity and make key plays to keep the chains moving

snarkk says: 23-20, Seattle. Staley said this morning he wants to play. Wanting to play and actually playing are not the same. If he’s out, and Iupati definitely is out, that’s not cool. Seattle is missing some guys in the secondary, but I don’t think that matters with this Niner passing attack that’s still trying to figure things out, and with Roman play calling that will probably run Gore too much, with no better than fair success. 23-20, Seattle…

NoFear49er says: 17-13 Niners. Run blocking shouldn’t be a problem for Snyder. He’s handled guys like Suh and Fairley without help. Especially against an aggressive d-line bent on penetration. We made a living trapping guys like Suh doing the same. And it doesn’t have to be all Gore. Their weakness is run defense. It only makes sense that our game plan exploits that. I’d make it a low scoring game for both teams. I’m guessing we can win it 17-13.

Barley to follow and 12 pack of San Miguel if he wins

    • phil fan's avatar philippinefan says:

barleyfreak says: Fearless prediction, 33-13…Niners. OK, let’s face it, Seattle is probably the best team in the NFL. They are a well coached, disciplined team that wins games even when they’re not playing well. And Wilson, who I can’t really hate, is clearly the better qb than CK at this point. Nobody expects the game to be anything but close. Seattle just blew out NO at home and is riding the “we are the greatest thing ever” bubble and they are due for a letdown. I know it’s the Niners, whom they hate, blah blah blah, but I just see a fart on the road for them, and I think it comes tomorrow. I don’t see our offense being dramatically juggernautish, instead the defense and maybe even special teams get half our points. Our defense has more than held up their side of the bargain the last few games, even the losses. I think they will again, and getting up early and with a few breaks NOT going Seattle’s way, the game won’t be as close as many predict.
Someone buy me a beer if I’m right.

twinfan1 says: 19-17 Niners. Big game for CK. Blow out losses in his two games against them last year and this. Both on the road and he played poorly. At home he needs a good one- not big numbers, just a nice solid performance, no turnovers. 19-17 Niners.

Derail the Shehags bandwaggon! Deflate the Carroll Clowns!

  5. 12th man's avatar 12th man says:

Game Day and I agree with NJ, this is a measurement game, just how good are the Niners this year?

Playing at home, just about at full strength, coming off a good win and playing maybe the best team in football who they just happen to hate and who are on a short week.

    No excuses today!

This game is probably the pivotal game of the year. Win and confidence is high and the probability of 3 wins on the road goes way up. Lose and the reality is grim.

    Go Niners!!!!!

  6. 12th man's avatar 12th man says:

    Hey Phil,
How’s that forest of yours? I hope all is ok after all that bad weather. Seems like every year you guys are catching a big one.

  7. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Yeah, statement game or what have you, the Niners need this game to restore at least a semblance of competition within the division. We very well may end up back in Seattle for the NFC Championship, but if we lose this one, all bets are off. We may not even reach the playoffs. Although I will say we should, even if this is a loss.

  8. 12th man's avatar 12th man says:

That’s some football weather in Philly today. Lions are up against it today.

  9. 12th man's avatar 12th man says:

No surprise Lattimore didn’t get activated. I hope that turns out to be the right decision.

  10. Wow. The refs just blew another one in the MIN/BAL game. The beat goes on. And in case you guys haven’t heard yet, Clete Blakeman, he of both the Mike Tomlin on the field and picking up the PI vs NE on the last play is our referee today. So when Clete screws us over real good — save your breath. I don’t want to hear it.

  14. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

This is getting out of control. The refs just gave Philly 2 ridiculous penalties to let them score a TD to tie the game.

Detroit gets a TD on the ensuing kickoff. HAH! Can’t believe there’s no flag.

  18. I still have to make an official call for today. I think I’m legally obligated. There might be consequences if I don’t. Lord knows the last thing I need is another summons to appear…

OK. We could win today’s game 100-0 and it still wouldn’t change the fact that Seattle is going to get HF throughout the playoffs. They don’t lose at home. Just put SEA and DEN in the SB and we’ll try again next year.

    49ers 100
    Seattle 0

My cat Frank isn’t so optimistic.

    Seahawks 23

  20. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Okay, IMO Harbaugh and Roman needs to stick to what has worked over the last 3 games. That and when the Niners get the lead do not, I repeat do not turn it over to the defense by going to the run and 3 and outs!!! It will be very hard for Harbs to do that so I am not hopeful. If he does that the Niners will lose. If Pete gets the lead he score, score, and score some more! He wants to crush the Niners. Pete has the killer instinct when it comes to the Niners. Hopefully Harbs starts getting that attitude also!!

    Willis

  73. Grumpy Guy's avatar Grumpy Guy says:

I would expect the penalty to be enforced after change of possession – either from the spot of the foul, or where the ball went dead. It seemed like we either had to decline it or give Seattle another chance to punt, which is absurd.

  74. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Why oh why dont the Niners do more crossing routes
