I see this Season starting with lots of motion and ground attack.
Our OL is going to take time to adjust to the new system, however, a WCO should help them once Alex and the WRs get into the necessary rhythm.
Game 1, lots of Gore and Hunter, 9ers win a close one. I do expect Harbaugh to take some deep shots though, VD and Braylon will be a nice duo.

Winder, I lost a lot of money betting on the Seahawks back in the days of Jim Zorn and Steve Largent but I still can’t hate ’em. I’m too big a fan of the game to hate on teams too much. I appreciate good football, players and coaches on almost every team.

Yeah phil- My guess would be we will be playing the Seawads at home for all the marbles. It’s not Wilson we have to worry about it’s Lynch. If I’m Jimbo i put Willis and somebody else on Lynch at all times and take my chances. Of course all thats moot if we can’t score at least 34 points.

A lot is being made right now on ESPN about Mike Shanahan not going to Kirk Cousins earlier, but I’ll tell you one thing – Kirk Cousins is a better pure passer than RGIII. Sure, you don’t have the read option, but what’s to say Shanahan couldn’t play conventional football with Cousins and Morris? If you watched Cousins you saw him getting blitzed heavily because after the RGIII fumble, Seattle was up by two scores with under five minutes left to play. Why not bring the kitchen?
But if Shanahan had gone to Cousins earlier, Seattle wouldn’t have blitzed as much and maybe Cousins could have gotten a rhythm. He made some nice throws under pressure.

The Vikings / Packers game was kind of a joke with Tony Dungy selling his soul for NBC advertising dollars declaring, “Vikings fans: don’t give up on Joe Webb.” And foolishly, I bit. I watched Webb and during the first quarter thought to myself, “Maybe Dungy’s right.” But then the one trick pony got shut down by the Packers’ D and the game was over….. early. We got robbed of a rematch, but injuries happen in the NFL. Good season for the Vikings, considering where they were last year.
The Colts / Ravens game was fun to watch. Bruce Arians was in the hospital instead of on the sidelines, and it showed in the red zone. Maybe it was because of the Ravens’ D, or maybe a normal qb coach simply can’t fill last minute shoes in the playoffs, but Andrew Luck moved the ball against the Ravens’ D, and the Colts won the time of possession battle. Like Ponder’s absence, it would have been nice to see the Colts’ red zone attack with Arians. The Colts and Vikings weren’t going to make any Super Bowl noise regardless, but it’s fun to see up and coming teams compete in the playoffs. It’s fun to see how they handle adversity – especially when their guns are loaded with all the playing and coaching talent their respective organizations possess.
The Houston / Cinci game was okay to watch. Houston sucks. Andre Johnson is getting older, Matt Schaub is Alex Smith, and Gary Kubiak relies way, way, way too much on Foster for the team to be a realistic Super Bowl threat. I’d put money on the Vikings and Bengals reaching the Super Bowl before I put money on the Texans making it.
Now it’s onto the division round. Cowboy’s play is crucial for all of us Niner fans. Ricky Jean isn’t going to help Aldon Smith sack Aaron Rogers. And Justin Smith, with his partially torn tri, might not either. The Niner / Packer comes down to one thing and one thing only – qb pressure on Rogers. Kaep and his host of merry woodsmen will do enough to win the game from the offensive side of the football, but the game comes down to whether or not the 49ers can consistently hurry, sack and knock Rogers down. If you give Rogers too much time, he’ll pick us apart, and a lot of that is predicated on Justin Smith’s pass rush. Forget stopping the run against the Packers. Even though that used car salesman is giving the Packers’ rushing attack some much needed life, the Packers aren’t going to beat the 49ers by running. The 49ers’ first playoff game of 2013 comes down to rushing Rogers.
Last year, the 49ers beat the Saints with a hard hitting defense that forced turnovers. I could see Goldson, Whitner, Bowman, Brooks and Willis laying big hits, but if you remember, Aldon Smith also got after Drew Brees. The big hits will be there – the 49er D will be prepared, inspired and fired up. The 49er O will do its part with Kaep occasionally fumbling the snap and our defense giving up semi-big plays to Cobb. But the game comes down to one thing – a pass rush. Brooks and McDonald need to pickup the slack left by Cowboy’s injury. Maybe Fangio will use McDonald and Aldon in a similar tandem – the way Fangio used Justin and Aldon over the course of the year. And Brooks can get after the passer. I say blitz Rogers with Rogers (Carlos), and have both Brooks and Aldon crashing hard. There’s no read option for Brooks (thank god) to defend against GB. It’s my opinion that if Fangio can create various schemes to get after Rogers, regardless of Cowboy’s affectiveness, the 49ers can beat the Packers. Now Seattle? That’s a horse of another color. And I believe Seattle will beat the Falcons. I think the Falcons will play tight – especially after their recent lack of playoff success, and Pete Carroll will have his boys playing loose, letting it all hangout. That spells trouble for the Dirty Bird. Pete Carroll’s boys need a nickname – The Dirty Chicken. Embrace it, Pete. Embrace it.

I haven’t seen much of Atlanta this season, but my thought is they’ll fold up like a cheap tent, as usual.
Missed both these games today (on the road), and I lost the radio at halftime. so I don’t know what happened with Griffin. He got hurt? Guess I got to watch ESPN. Hou and Balt? Ehhh. That sure looks like Denver/NE.

Seattle’s win has certainly got to help their belief in Carroll’s system and each other. Beating a tough team like Washington on the road is no mean feat and I think that makes a win in their last three away games.
I’ve got to say I’m more impressed with their QB every time I see him for some reason or another, (ROY I think) but they sure came out slow and looked impotent on both sides of the ball in the first quarter. Have to give them and their coaching credit for playing through it.
Probably good for RG3 there’s no pressure to play next week or he’d likely try it. I’d guess Shanahan (Mike or Kyle) had no game plan for the switch at QB or he’d have made it sooner.

If the Niners have the lead through out the game they will be fine. But if it becomes a shoot out. well…you know how I feel about running the ball all the time.
as Spit pointed out Colts won the time of possession, but lost. I hope that is not how Harbaugh works the offense.
