As the 2012 season winds down, the 49ers aren’t exactly right where they want to be. The offense has been a little spotty at times, and the defense, minus Justin Smith, is struggling pretty badly. Special teams are a shambles, and the coaching staff was pretty badlyt schooled in that loss to Seattle. They are dealing with a lot of injuries, including the recently concussed Vernon Davis, Mario Manningham, and the still -healing KW and Kendall Hunter.
In other words, the injury bug couldn’t hit the team as a worse possible time. Even still, the team has a shot to secure a bye with a win over AZ, and a GB loss to Minn. Both eminently possible. Or they could fall as low as the 5th seed if the Niners lose, Sea wins, and a bunch of other weird shot happens. Sea has a shot at that bye week. How important is the bye? Well, let’s see how the team gets through the AZ game before dealing with that. More injuries to key players would likely kill their playoff run, but a week off to healthy up would do wonders to the team’s chances. More than likely, the Niners would be facing Chicago or Minn if they play the 1st weekend, or Atl if they get the bye.
AZ comes to town looking like a team that got beaten, robbed, and left for dead in a ditch on the side of the road. They beat NE on the road, and took care of biz early to go 4-0 out of the gate. Since then? 1-10. Ouch. They are in the midst of a QB merry-go-round, and their offensive line is flat terrible at pass protection. Their run game is stalled, and Larry Fitzgerald, an otherwise top 3 WR in the league, is wasting away as the QB du jour throws shit 10′ over his head, or down near his feet. Should Alex Smith hit the market, this is his likely landing spot. Granted, he’d be dodging LBs as he tries to throw, but if AZ can build a decent enough line around him, he and the team would be solid contenders in the NFC West next year.
That was holding big time
What a shit KO
14-7 Skins over the Romo’s end of the 3rd
So who might we face? Any thoughts?
Congrats on yer call Chico = 27-14 purdy dang close my friend
Thanks man! I never do anything but guess..
Stoked on the bye.. That Vikings/Packers game was great, too.. Niners!
Akers was shown the door in Philly, after a pretty good season. Apparently he’s a cunt every other season
Hopefully he doesn’t give the clap to the rest of the team… Bigger (and related) question: Can this bunch win more than 2 in a row? Three wins in a row = Lombardi #6.
Lets fucking DO IT, what you say?
If Minn beats GB and Sea beats Wash, we’d play Seattle again. More than likely GB comes here.
Thanks Chuck… Everyone at the Niner party today was inebriated by the 4th quarter, so nobody knew… I also got stuck driving 3 of them home. *facepalm*
At moments like this we need a guy like Chuck.
Hey how waz da slopes, you old ski bum you? Lottsa snow I hear… true?
Akers missed a bunch of kicks in 2010.
Romo with the backbreaking interception. Once again. And again.
Dennis loves Romo….Why???
don’t ask Man…lol
He’s nuts.
Romo, predictable as always, throws a pick in crunch time.
Romo pissed that one away.. haha.
I guessed an 11-5 record this season, and was pretty dang close. In some respects, this was a better season than last. Niners could not sneak up on anybody this time, had a tougher schedule, and had some big wins at NO and NE. They need the bye. Unfortunately, the wide receiver situation is IMO not a lot better than last season, with Manningham out. AJ Jenkins looks like he might be a Niner version of DHB. Hope not, but if your first rounder doesn’t play squat for a season, that sounds like bust…
There’s reason to worry that he’s a bust, IMO. Jenkins finally got a ball in his mitts and he bungled it. That after waiting basically 16 games to get a chance. As a first rounder. Behind Ginn on the depth chart. Ginn. Harbaugh doesn’t forgive rookie mistakes easily and Jenkins drop isn’t exactly going to find him high on the target list entering the post season. Meanwhile we get to look forward to Delanie Walker getting open right and left, and catching or dropping based on some strange algorithm that scares the shit out of me if it comes down to a win/lose end-of-game situation.
Romo goes down in history as the smallest guy in big games.
Got to love Romo padding his stats in garbage time.
How much rope does Romo get, it’s obvious he can’t play in the biggest games.
Pedestrian game for RG3 with only 100 yards passing.
But who blows mo? Tony Blowsmo!
3 more picks in another money game. Another Blowsmo performance.
“You can just go home and watch the playoffs on TV with the rest of America…”
Amazing how much national talk Romo and Tebow generate. One dude plays and sucks always at crunch time, one dude doesn’t ever play. Both on teams outta the playoffs, yet get more pub that dudes that get it done and are IN the playoffs. Pathetic…
After I predicted we’d lose to SEA but BEFORE we actually did, I thought to myself that I wouldn’t predict another loss for us and we’d win the SB. The SEA game was a face slap of reality, but at the same time, despite all the crapping all over ourselves in that game, I had trouble jumping on the end of the world bandwagon.
Today’s game had some good moments against a bad team. And while I still don’t think our D is capable of carrying us to the SB, If we’re going to make it, I think our O has to score points. I really don’t know what our O can do. CK has a resume of 7 games. 7. He’s made big time plays and rookie mistakes. If he gets on a streak, shit, it could happen. Not betting the mortgage on it, but I’m not going to lose faith either.
Not being dominant in all phases of every game and still winning the SB is totally an option.
If David Akers is still our PK in the playoffs. Frank the Cat is going to piss on his first born male child.
Dennis what are drinking tonight?
are you……correction
YOU’RE FIRED!
Teams waste no time.
New thread is up.
