As far as Hawk goes, he’s amenable to playing under the franchise tag at $ 6 mill per. It sure beats losing a 5 year/$25 mill deal for a $2 mill one as he did last year. The point being, he wanted security but turned it down last year. Now he wants it again, but the team is like, uh-uh-uh. Nope. Not this time, skippy. You have to wait. Frankly, I think he’s gone after this season regardless. They have cheaper options already in place. They’ll use that money to re-up Bowman. And sign a rejuvenated Randy Moss . . .

SUNDAY AT NIPPER’S broke down in upper stretch in the 5th at Belmont today and had to be humanely put down.

I hope your day’s going better.

      • phil fan says:

I swear to Gawd Del Mar makes up about half these horse names but it’s funny so that works

  1. unca_chuck says:

    Succinct as always Nipper.

  2. unca_chuck says:

What do you guys make of this? Here’s Bob Kraft, owner of the New England Patriots, helping his girlfriend get a part in a movie.

“Fuck you, pussy!” Bob deserves the Oscar for this.

    • Del Mar Dennis says:

Hey. When you’re that old like Bob, and have a girlfriend that looks like that. You can put on an acting performance that makes Keanu Reeves look Oscar-worthy and you still get to go home with the girlfriend. It beats ten years of Stanislavski method acting lessons and going home with an oinker.

    • phil fan says:

Damn they took it down before the coconut internet could connect. I’ll jest follow Del Mar and say “all good”.

But professionally speaking, give me a full bodied brunette ovah a skinny blond any day.

“Sunday, Feb. 9, 2013: 49ers win Super Bowl XLVIII over Tennessee”

Did I miss the prior date when we signed Peyton Manning?

  4. Del Mar Dennis says:

Hey, Chuck. Isn’t your black dog’s name Josie? Opener at Hollywood today has ONLY JOSIE KNOWS going in a maiden special weight. Josie knows how to stick her head into a bucket of Budweiser.

  5. unca_chuck says:

Yes her name is Jozie with a z. How’d she do? I’d’a put $20.00 on the nose . . .

  6. phil fan says:

Ah Goldson, the guy that got me banned at Skeebs (for calling him a “dickwad” whatever that is). Yeah he blew it royally by turning his nose up at last yeah’s offer.

No tears for for the dickwad!

  7. unca_chuck says:

Skeebs banned you? First I heard of that.

  8. unca_chuck says:

Dennis, I can only hope to be put down humanely when my time comes.

  9. phil fan says:

Talk about high expectations: Looks like we aren’t the only ones-

MGM Has 49ers As 4-To-1 Super Bowl Favorites

A week before training camp and the San Francisco 49ers remain 4-to-1 Super Bowl favorites at the MGM Grand. Odds vary across different sports books and websites, but MGM has had the 49ers installed as favorites for the last month now. The Packers and Patriots are both sitting at 6-to-1, the Broncos are 7-to-1 and the Bears are 8-to-1.

    • Grumpy Guy says:

Those 49er odds get skewed a little because of northern California money going into Vegas, but, yeah, we have as good a chance as anyone, pending actual games. The Broncos at 7-1, though, that one is funny. And I’m not too sold on “No Mas” Cutler and da Bears, either.

      • Nipper says:

        Stay grumpy.

      • phil fan says:

Hey Grumpy yer right Bronks at 7-1? That’s some crazy shit supposed to take some $$ outta Denver. Peyton makes it to mid-season in one piece it’ll be a Tebow F-ing miracle.

Same with Niner at 4-1 right? Bookies are working the NoCal enthusiasm to rake in the bucks. They hope.

Love to see them lose that bet.

  10. Del Mar Dennis says:

    Stay thirsty.

    • phil fan says:

      Well yeah. Ok done.

Del Mar when we gonna draft some playas? I could look this up but I’d rather yank yer chain my friend.

GIGANTIC DISCLAIMER: I have low low low expectations of whipping Berger or even Rob anytime soon. Fact is, sadly, I passed on the Super Bowl Winning QB, Manning, to snatch Bradford off the heap in last yeah’s draft. Even Chuck was better than me.

  11. barleyfreak says:

Hey Chuck — you’ve been critical of Goldon’s hit on Brown. I have mostly agreed without really looking closely at the play again. I finally watched the replay (below) in slomo, and if you look at it carefully (stop/start it), there is not a defender in sight, he was clearly going for the INT and may not have seen Brown. In fact between the 1 and 2 second spot on the below video, pause it, and watch how the ball is coming straight for where Goldson is moving forward and Brown is still quite off to the right and playing off his receiver’s route. His eyes lit up with anticipation of an INT he got tunnel vision. It is not an uncommon.

It is easy to armchair criticize that he didn’t have the awareness to know Brown was closing, but in the Championship game, adrenalin pumping, an INT coming into your territory (Brown was playing off his WR’s route to track the ball thrown behind the receiver), I don’t think it is so cut and dried that him going for the ball was idiotic. It was an unfortunate play that would rarely happen because balls are usually not thrown to areas so utterly devoid of intended targets.

Here’s a good look at it:

  12. barleyfreak says:

    link got truncated:

  13. unca_chuck says:

Well, I’m still critical of the play because it WAS in front of him. It IS hard to communicate out there while the [play is happening, but still and all, not a very heads-up play on Goldson’s part. I hadn’t seen the play for a while, and I thought the WR was much closer to the play than he actually was. Terrible pass, BTW.

My apparent dislike for Goldson goes beyond that one play. He seems to be out of position a lot, and gives up too many plays over the top. He goes for the highlight-reel hit too much. And it isn’t that I think he’s a lousy player, it’s just that he wants something like a 5 year $40 million deal. That is flat ludicrous. Especially as they have a guy in Chris Culliver who could step in and take his job with little commotion and provide better deep coverage. The Niners have plenty of CBs who can step into Culliver’s spot if they decide to move Culliver to FS.

    New post is up, BTW.
