Super Bore XLVI

Excuse me for not caring, but this upcoming Super Bowl just doesn’t do it for me. What was almost the greatest turnaround in the Niners storied history (yes, even greater than the Walsh turnaround of 1979-1981) was dashed at the knee of Kyle Wiliams. One fateful bounce of the football. To hear the Giants call themselves a team of destiny is a crock of shit. They flat lucked out. Much like the 1990 season, when they were on their way to losing the NFC Championship game to SF, and Craig fumbling with 1:50 left. And then surviving the vastly better Bills team losing on the final play of the game. But whatever. I’m over it. Well, I’ll never be over it, but I’ve moved on. It’s very hard to even GET to the point the Niners got to this season. Just ask Philly, Dallas, NO, and GB. All teams who had much more to lose this year by not getting far in the playoffs. I’m sure their fans are pretty pissed off at this point in time.

My hope is that the Patriots beat the living shit of of the Giants. But I’m sure the game will come down to some sort of freak play (blocked FG for a score?) that tips the scales to the NY Giants. The coach that 80% of Giants fans wanted to run out of town in week 13 will be seen as the greatest thing since Bill Parcells. Blechhhh. I just threw up in my mouth a little. Fuck it. I ain’t gonna watch that shit. I’m going skiing . . .

It’s the goddamn motherfucking Super Bowl. Of course I’m going to watch. I’ve been watching ever since I could remember. First one I recall is Super Bowl VII, the Garo Yepremien “pass” game. That play is still a doozy…

Classic. GY looked like he was returning a volleyball serve- ball goes straight up. Either that or it was a Canseco- ball bounced off his head. Funny

First one I watched was III. I expected a slaughter like everyone else. . .

The First SB I remember was II. In those days, every year my dad would take my older brother and I to the SF Boat Show at the Cow Palace. He’d look at all the fancy ass boats he couldn’t afford. Well, I remember walking around the Cow Palace and there were a few TVs on — they were showing the Packers/Raiders. I can still remember Lamonica. The thing was, the Super Bowl then was not that big of a deal. Not at all. Even with the Raiders in it, there weren’t that many people watching around the few TVs that were there. As for this SB, I really don’t care. I’d like Brady to win to beat the lucky ass Giants, but then he’d have 4 SB wins like Joe, which doesn’t thrill me for some reason. Then again, who gives a shit, fuckin’ Bradshaw has 4 rings, and nobody cares about that dumbass. I’ll go with the Pats, though I think the Giants should win, they’re a more balanced squad…

Back in the 60’s I was a Packer fan going to high school in Wisconsin. Pack had already won 2 NFL championships in a row under Lombardi (’61& ’62) and were still good for a few more years after their 3rd NFL championship win in 1965. They beat the Chiefs in ’66 in Super Bowl I and were going for #3. I expected them to beat the Raiders in the second Super Bowl and sure enough Lombardi and the Pack wore ’em out in the second half. Listened to the game on the car radio with my Dad and brothers as we were returning to San Diego from a camping trip in Death Valley. Tense there for a minute but the Raiders wore out. Game OVAH!

The long wait is over. The Puppy Bowl lineup has finally been announced. The Boxer looks like a very formidable opponent. The miniature Aussie, IMO, is clearly the “underdog”. I’m gettin’ the beer and chips ready…

    from the last thread …
    Tramaine Brock RFA CB
    Ahmad Brooks UFA LB
    Blake Costanzo UFA LB
    Ted Ginn UFA WR
    Dashon Goldson UFA S
    Larry Grant UFA LB
    Josh Morgan UFA WR
    Moran Norris UFA RB
    Chilo Rachal UFA OT
    Carlos Rogers UFA CB
    Reggie Smith UFA CB
    Alex Smith UFA QB
    Adam Snyder UFA OT
    C.J. Spillman RFA S
    Joe Staley UFA OT
    Will Tukuafu RFA DT

    ok , 16 free agents !
    imho …

i really really really want ten of them back !
    staley , snyder , rogers , a. smith , rachal , r. smith , rogers , goldson , brooks and ginn !

    imho
the other six are just filling out the roster and can and will be either resigned or replaced !
spillman , norris , costaqnzo , brock grant and tukuafu !
    (of these i like tukuafu)

the good news for me is that i don’t think too many teams will go hard after rachal , brooks , snyder , r. smith or ginn ! of these imo ginn might get the most attention !

    that leaves just
rogers , staley , alex smith and goldson as the biggest names we have !
imho we can and will re-sign most if not all of these !

Spillman and Costanzo aren’t going anywhere. Those guys are core STers.
And they’re easy on the pocket book as well.

I say if your last name is Smith, you should hit the road. And you can add Dr. Zachary Smith while you’re at it. Why the Robinson family didn’t collectively punch him in the goddamn throat is a mystery. He was nothing but trouble.

  8. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Yeah. The STers are staying. The guys who may split are Goldson and Brooks. One of those 2 is likely franchised,

So fox sports is reporting that P Manning might be done. Claims the nerves in his arm are not healing as quickly as expected. Dr.’s are saying it could be another full year before Manning will know how successfull the surgery was. Arm strength for passing is not there yet.

  10. Kevin's avatar Kevin says:

I am betting the Colts release him before the $28 mil is due on March 8

  11. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Doesn’t look good for him in Indy. No way Irsay lets him collect another $21 mill while he rehabs his neck for another year.

  12. snarkk's avatar snarkk says:

    Whither Peyton?
Will he stay a Colt, or will he go?
When answered, then it will be daily neck updates, and who’s in the running to sign him?
The irritating Favre-watch redux until training camps open this summer…

Good luck finding snow in between the rocks. It’ll be harder than Alex finding Crabby getting open…

  15. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Sugar Bowl most likely. Quick and easy.

Sorry I’ve been not keeping up with this. Still bummed from the Championship game, and busy at work . . .

  16. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Yeah, it’d be funny to break out my old Squadra Corse GS skis for fun.

Sadly, I lost my old Yamaha downhill skis. Those bad boys were 225s.
