Game Day . . . Good, Bad, or Ugly?

Lots of differeing opinions about this Deetroit game. From we’ll get slaughtered, to a tough loss, to a victory. 5-0 Deetroit vs the 4-1 Niners. There are a lot of people out there that don’t believe in either team as being more than flashes in the pan. The winner will be the toast of the NFL. For a week, anyway. I happen to think the 49ers can get on these guys early as the Lions struggle to get going, as they usually do. The onus will be for the 49ers to keep the chains moving once a lead is established. If it is. Harbaugh showed what he could do last week by going aggressive early. The thing was, it was done with a lot of 2 TE/2 WR formations (and even a bunch of 3 TE formations), not the 4 WR sets I had been calling for (and expecting).

The nice thing about all this? Well, I dug the fact that the 2nd TD to VD came on one of the 3 TE sets. One the Niners had run out of the previous 4 times. Down and distance, or formation doesn’t dictate the play being called anymore. Harbaugh had TB completely off-balance the whole day. And TB’s defense isn’t taken lightly. My thought (OK, hope) is they can continue this style of play. I’d actually like to see more multi-WR sets. Get Swain in there. And run up the middle. Throw screens and delays. I think the Niners can use their aggressiveness against them. Should be a good game either way.

Criminy. They haven’t hit deep with CJ yet. They’re going to go back to that at some point. Unless we keep the pressure up. Ginn has no feel as a WR. He should have done a better job getting that pass.

Smith’s been high with his throw’s to Crabtree all day. Crabs saved him before, no chance on that one.

    • twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

Crabs has hardly saved Smith, he’s made catches any receiver should make. He also cost them a TD, along with Walker.Bad throw on the INT, though.,

  12. robd's avatar robd says:

    ok

smith had a down moment ! we hold em on D now and we’ll be ok !

Juist a bad throw, not much more to say.

  14. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

A sack is needed. They are going quick passes. Trying to draw the LBs/safeties up for a big play.

  15. Edd's avatar Edd says:

Smith is one shitty QB. I’d fear for my life if I were one of his receivers crossing the middle!

  16. bigflavor's avatar Flavor says:

Wow, now THAT was a bad pass by Smith. Horrific.

  17. phil fan's avatar phil fan says:

    Turnovers are really hurting us

  18. Flavor's avatar Flavor says:

How is that not a touchdown?

  19. Del Mar Dennis's avatar Del Mar Dennis says:

Regardless of the replay outcome, the NFL needs to change that rule.
    That’s a TD.
