Let the Sleeping Dogs Die ! ! !
The Brew Crew so far is obliterating the Dodgers pitching while their pitching has shut down the Dodger attack. Not really watching, but hey seeing that 6-2 score yesterday in the top of the 9th was very nifty. Patrick Bailey is apparently putting his stamp on the Guardicles team as he cranks up the power. Yes, it’l disappear like a mirage soon, but hey, ride it while it lasts.
Brewers and Guardicles would be a cool series.
Go Milwaukee! Fuck the Dodgers.
Abner… Kuhnel… Davitt…. who the hell are these chumps? I mean, obviously the rest of this season is for auditions, but I really have a hard time believing that this organization doesn’t have ANY flippin’ relievers of any value. Just pathetic. I’m still on Buster’s fan wagon, but he’d better figure this shit out in the off season. No excuses for this display of incompetence.
I seriously think they don’t want to expose anyone else worth a damn in case of a strike. Call it fall weeding.
Yes, you’re probably right. I was momentarily over-reacting to a season-long malady. Still grasping for something to matter…. haha. On we go.
Giants seemed to have unlocked Mookie from season long slump. Giants can even find hotel that won’t mess up Eldridge, who hit his head on low entrance or some such. Meanwhile Mark Walter looks like more and more of a slime.
Pablo Torre revelations about him remind me of LA Confidential one of James Ellroy’s better efforts. Good movie version too.
the guy has been 6’7″ for years and he’s still banging his head on doorways? A cynic would imagine distraction while pursuing hijinks with an LA hooker. Or two.
too bad, too: he has a chance to take the career HR lead among active Giants.
Like being the oldest fillie at the mustang ranch.
now Kuiper out with throat cancer.
ooh that’s sad. I wasn’t listening to miller on radio but he called game with brother Glen, who said he’d always been Giants fan and appears to be on comeback announcing trail.
Yeah been just an awful year, Kuiper said he will miss a few games while getting treatment but plans to be back for Krukow”s celebration.Throat Cancer can’t be good for an announcer continuing talking, wonder if he might say Adios also as well?
Good to see Tugboat throw a decent game. I’m really rooting for him and Tidwell to “be something”. Tidwell reminded me of someone, couldn’t place it, then watched an old Chicago video (25 or 6 to 4) and there it was. Put a longish blond wig on him and give him a guitar and he looks like Terry Kath’s twin. RIP Terry…..
Hah! Wow, there’s a very tangential reference! Saw them at a Day on the Green way back in 1975, Chicago/Beach Boys.
Funny I started listening to Chicago again and realized that they really didn’t have a lot of songs I liked.
Their great songs are great. But the rest is just not very good.
Man, tough deal for Kuiper. All the shit he’s already gone through with his wife and the earlier cancer. My daughter met him in Orinda when she was at St Mary’s around 2011 and they talked for a little bit. She said he was funny and just very cool to talk to. Course she said the whole fam are huge fans and we’d all been listening to you guys forever.
This season can’t be much more of a send off of some kind.
Bad vibes? fuck, i don’t know.
The Rams sporting some seriously ugly unis. Man, I hope they just screw the pooch tonight just for thr fact they look like popsicles out there.
OF tonight Bandura Gilbert and Davidson just called up. Mayer sighting as DH. At least these guys get week in.
do, Bo can hit!
Bet Davidson gets sent down before Sunday.
Cox growing on me. The football Giants aren’t.
Look at Gibby go! Fuck, let’s just keep these skinny white guys. We’ll steal 500 bases.
Good side by side photos, Charlie, I couldn’t find any for comparison. I thought Chicago’s first 3 albums (certainly first 2) were stellar. After Terry died in ’78, I stopped following them completely. Even Bob Lamm, their keyboardist and chief songwriter, said that when Terry died, so did Chicago, even though they continued for years doing crappy pop stuff produced by David Foster and sung by Peter Cetera, just awful. Oh well. YouTube has their brilliant 1970 concert at Tanglewood, that’s when they were at their best, IMO.
Speaking of Tidwell, why was he pulled in the 4th inning? Seemed to be doing ok…
Tidwell winced after throwing a sweeper and summoned the trainer. Not good.
Thanks. I guess it really is a good thing this season is nearly over….
Foley on to pitch 8th, Giants up 5-1. First pitch winds up over the CF fence courtesy of rookie Emmanuel Rodriguez, who has been up for 10 days. Posey’s pen in action.
Story of entire season.
the kids enjoyed themselves. Except for Mayer.
Yeah, Chicago came out on fire. They just cranked out so many albums. Even before Kath offed himself. A lot of meh mixed in with a few great ones.
The 75 day on the green was them touring for Chicago VIII. They gave away a big iron on sticker I put on the back of my jean jacket. At the time I thought the cover was a joke. I mean, a Cardinal? The Cubs biggest rival? Huh?
chirp chirp
Yeah, pretty quiet here as the season crawls to a silent end…
I’m hoping for an active and interesting off-season…..
the kids are having a blast and that’s ok, but I’m also very glad that we’re heading into the final weekend.
yeah kids playing hard/often overmatched. Molina looked pretty good/Tidwell with UCL issue. Cox has speed when he gets on base/doesn’t strike out. Let off season begin.
Tidwell getting the TJ? Jesus. I guess it’s a right of passage these days.
Yeah the kids are fun to watch. Even as all our pitchers just throw 3 and get hurt.
This seems to be the swan song for Kruk and Kuip. And man it has been a long run for those guys. They really should be inducted together but we all know how retarded the HOF committee is.
Waitaminute, I forgot the Chicago Cardinals were a thing in the NFL.
They left for St Looie in 1959. Something about a fight with the NFL and the about-to-be-formed AFL.
well the work of rebuilding the pen has begun: Giants claimed Doval off waivers. Now if they can just spend some quality time with Walker, talk him into believing in himself again, we’ll never gripe about losing Rogers again. What horseshit. I mean, for PR reasons alone they should’ve avoided this joke move.
oh no, really? At least it will help them get through weekend vs. LA (with Ohtani back in lineup), who still need to win to get home field advantage vs Brewers. beyond that, idk.
Doval can be the designated driller. Take some ribs with him to the offseason.
Oh dear. I think the criteria going forward is, does he hae a pulse? Come on down!!!
There’s plenty of time to jettison that jetsam.
