Let the Sleeping Dogs Die ! ! !
The Brew Crew so far is obliterating the Dodgers pitching while their pitching has shut down the Dodger attack. Not really watching, but hey seeing that 6-2 score yesterday in the top of the 9th was very nifty. Patrick Bailey is apparently putting his stamp on the Guardicles team as he cranks up the power. Yes, it’l disappear like a mirage soon, but hey, ride it while it lasts.
Brewers and Guardicles would be a cool series.
Go Milwaukee! Fuck the Dodgers.
Meanwhile, in Philly, there’s Arraez, trying to win the batting title, spraining his ankle. Bad time for that, I’d say…
Once upon a time Jung Hoo Lee was leading the league. He and Arraez were 1 – 2.
Ah, good times. Seems like a long time ago…
That’s the semi-infuriating thing. They have a fairly solid hitting team now. At least when Schmitt comes back. They just need 10 pitchers.
Watched Padres win last night and take 2 of 3 from Dogs last night on road. Glasnow had no hitter going but Pads broke it up and scored off him, then beat the kid Wrobleski roberts brought in out of pen. Maybe it’s just hope, but seems like someone in NL will put 3 peat BS to rest.
Maybe the Brew Crew will finally break on through to the other side….
One can only hope
Doval says he’s happy to be “home.” How many siblings does he have? Two dozen? Maybe “home” is a loose concept to him.
At the start of the year, I predicted the Gints would win 95. The baseball gods saw that and said flip the script on this fucking clown. So here we are… I have no additional words about this season that have probably already been said here, so I won’t try.
Hope everyone is well, and the winter is short, we’ll get em next year. Now it’s, Go Niners time.
Hope all’s well there with you and yours, Bozo Loco…
Thanks Paul and back attcha. We’ve had a nor’easter roll thru with wind and some flooding, but we’re getting by.
As this weirdest of seasons mercifully comes to a close, at least it has been interesting to watch “the kids” the past month or so. The team is now way ahead of where they would be if all these players — Cox, Hill, Whitcomb, Davidson, etc. — were being evaluated for the first time in spring training next year. Some of them won’t make the cut but a few definitely will, and some might also have elevated themselves to trade bait in the off season. The team hasn’t been winning, but it was basically a AAA lineup, and we won’t really know how good the team will be until some of these here young’uns are plugged in with the vets next year, but there’s clearly some hope here now.
None of that will matter if they don’t completely overhaul the bullpen and add a couple of front line starters. “One or two relievers” ain’t gonna do it. Oh, and coaches too, need some new ones of them too. That’s all. Go get ’em, Buster!
Agreed, kids were often quite enjoyable to watch and there are definitely some keepers there in OF…another area for Posey to sort out but unlike others here he has almost too much to work with.
Camilo once again struck out side including Ohtani and Betts. As was said across blogosphere, he’s not worse than half a dozen guys Giants pen guys as is.
Great sports day in Bay Area with Kruk send off and Giants season mercifully ending, Niners hosting long time spoiler unpredictable Cardinals (classic uni and helmet) plus WNBA team hosting playoff game at Chase Center in front of sold out crowd in violet, feathers, etc.
“I’ll just keep this page here for the playoffs/World Series. After that, we’ll see. It’ll be just like my appendix.” You mean, like a vestigial organ that has little purpose but can rupture at any time? Well, I still have mine, so maybe this one will also last a bit… 🙂 Enjoy the post-season and off-season, everyone.
White Sox / Cubbies would be a fun world series. Not likely to happen though. Would love to see Boston go through, but also not likely. Kinda rooting for Brewers, who have never won a world series, and Cleveland, who hasn’t won in something like 80 years.
I think Matt Williams was on the Indians when they had their last best shot.
Sure I’m wrong tho.
Cubbies and the Sox would be wild. I’d have to take a trip out there to see it.
Sucks that one of the AL WC series won’t have game in Fenway vs. hated Yanks, but that’s fantastic way to open playoffs. As long as you get in anyone can win it as Giants proved before. No preference as long as Hated Rivals are eliminated.
Great Kruk I saw somewhere, Chron maybe. He was in minors with Cubs team, and the SP got raked early and they brought him in trailing 8-0. so first guy he faces tried to bunt and fouled it off which Kruk thought was total CS so he “stuck next pitch in his armpit, and I was throwing 95 then. He cussed me out all the way to 1b.”
Turned out the batter was Tony LaRussa. Ran into each other years later and TLR was still dogging him. Reminded Kruk he hit him first time he faced him, but said, “I like that. you could play for me.”
Huh. didn’t realize that the ‘lesser’ WC team doesn’t get a home game in the WC round. Kinda fucked up.
Kinda dumb and kinda smart. Like Honey…
Yeah, hard to reconcile team 2 getting a home 2nd game as it could be the clincher but that sucks for Phillies, White Sox, Red Sox, and Cubs fans. 2 Chicago teams in the playoffs and 0 games played there.
Hah!!!!!
Bobby fucking Goldsboro, eh? Scraping the depths of my little kid AM-listening brain with that one. You sentimental fool! I think my sister liked that one.
Don’t get much more sappy than this . . .
…
Do color analysts get into the baseball broadcaster hall of fame? If Krukow made it, would he be the first?
It seems kind of ominously quiet from the opposing sides in the baseball labor negotiations. Could a delayed 2027 season be an actual reality? It seems crazy; but I don’t blame 29 of the owner groups wanting a system where the Dodgers don’t win the World Series every year.
The WNBA playoffs have started also. The #1 seed Minnesota team lost Game 1 to the 8th seed NY Liberty. Tough break for the Minnys. Have the best record and draw a really tough first round opponent who has gotten healthy at the right time of the season.
The Minnys have an awesome rookie but the refs let her carry the ball and travel so much, I don’t really enjoy watching her play much.
Clark and the Fever got the defending champs in the first round. Unfortunate situation.
The Vals!!!!! What a story and what a team! Truly a team! No famous superstars, but they play together so well as a team.
A pretty forgettable Giants season, but when it turned into “just play the kids” the last month or so, that was fun. The team was more athletic and playing hard. Fun to watch. Devers got hot and became fun to watch. Webb looked so ordinary at the end. Probably just a tired arm (although he had a blister, too, at the end.)
Interesting to see Costas hanging out with Kruk and Kuip at the end. I couldn’t help but think how Costas had been so vocal about Barry’s steroid use over the years, and K&K decided to never talk about it. Should they go in the hall of fame if they refused to talk about such a big story in baseball? K&K just pretended it never happened.
