Let the Sleeping Dogs Die ! ! !

The Brew Crew so far is obliterating the Dodgers pitching while their pitching has shut down the Dodger attack. Not really watching, but hey seeing that 6-2 score yesterday in the top of the 9th was very nifty. Patrick Bailey is apparently putting his stamp on the Guardicles team as he cranks up the power. Yes, it’l disappear like a mirage soon, but hey, ride it while it lasts.

Brewers and Guardicles would be a cool series.

Go Milwaukee! Fuck the Dodgers.

xoot Kent clip is just another reason old ballplayers should be seen and not heard. Every team since at least statcast era has some kind of valuation that combines hitting baserunning and D, a total value number they put on each player that relates to their salary and how much they are worth depending on how much a win is worth to team.

If he had any clue he’d be happy to know he had over 31 bWAR with Giants alone including 3 year stretch 2000-02 where he amassed over 19 WAR. Glad he finally got in, but…

Well, we suck at analytics then.

Kent isn’t totally wrong. Bochy was a pretty good blend of old and new. He didn’t base stats over instinct. Going too far in either direction will always cause problems.

I doubt analytics “propeller heads” are telling Vitello to bring Walker in to pitch 8th inning.

Posey has said similar things about balancing analytics. The game has changed dramatically in the amount of data available in statcast pitch com era, circa 2015. didn’t help Bochy much in post season 2016, or afterwards.

Come on, Willie. It didn’t help because we had 10 years of shitty drafts. This team has been pretty much a disaster in every aspect of team building for the past 14 years.

They bring in Walker because they don’t have a choice. It’s not like Trevor Hoffman is languishing in Sacto or Mariano Rivera is warming up behind him.

The lunatic fringe goes nuts when he comes into a game, but they use who they have. What they have is predominantly garbage.

The same folks used to scream about Rogers. Now they desperately vilify the team for trading him. Yeah, it’s all bullshit. But the fact remains that this team has has 2 winning seasons since the chip in 2014. 2 playoff appearances since then. Something is wr0ong. And it isn’t just the numbers.

I remember when the Warriors traded Chris Weber for Tom Googliota. Their stat averages were fairly similar, but which player would you want on your team?

Chuck, predicting the future of draft picks (or even vet players) has zero to do with analytics. MLB is a crapshoot for this and undrafted guys succeed all the time. Who would have predicted cal Raleigh season this year or last?

Being smarter about what you do based on info is unique thing and some orgs are smarter and better at it than others. Developing players is very difficult thing to do or else everyone would be Rays and Brewers.

But blaming data and guys that process it has zero to do with it.

I enjoy hearing guys like Will Clark and Jeff Kent spout off freely after they’re safely canonized. Joe Morgan was similar. They’re wrong but they’re rightly railing. Meanwhile, kids scoff and say those codgers would’ve washed out if they had to face 95-100 mph every AB.

Color me surprised that Devers has more homeruns than Ohtani. 32-30.

Met announcers seemed to place most of the blame for the Giants miserable season on injuries…

Hey I’m not convinced Vitello can’t lose 100 games still with a far superior squad then Jim Davenport had with every player having a down year are washed up including the forgettable David Green who I watched as their 1B at many Stick games for( and wishing I could shove a bat up his ass)that one season and he stunk and still pissed they traded “The Ripper” Jack Clark for

Davenport’s record was 56-88 when let go and Roger Craig finished out the stretch going 6-12 for the forgettable 100 loss season .But Craig magically gets Will Clark&Robbie Thompson in 1986 and others and Humm Baby was born in attitude changes..

Vitello is 58-84 right now a whopping 2 games better than Davenport at 56-88 with a better team so it’s hard to believe until the top prospects are ready which will take time that Vitello can really guide this team going forward..
