Yes, the biggest blown 9th inning league in the 125 year history of the team. They were 2,208-0 when leading by 6 or more in the 9th. Til today.
Up 9-3 in the top of the 9th, the team could not even get an out before Cincy tied it. Bivans came in and really had no clue. Not sure why whoever the interim manager even was didn’t pull him a little faster, but I think it was pretty obvious Bivens didn’t have it. He gave up the longest home run into the cove that I’ve ever seen. Then again, Smith came in and nuked the joint. And the rest was errors, walks and general rookie ball crap.
I guess the lockout is a blessing.

Ah, the dreaded Opener. I was wondering why they used that yesterday. Xoot, you pointed out Houser’s astronomical 1st innings stats. Is that why? Do *they* actually run those numbers and decide that Houser should “start” the 2nd inning? Why? So we can watch Brubaker give up a run in the 1st instead of the 6th? I’m not a big Houser fan, but I don’t blame him for thinking “yeah, this isn’t for me”. Always hated the Opener thing and always will.
well, as Willie’s sources pointed out, he’s been better in relief than as a starter. And he’s in the pen becz he was so bad. And I think the Giants have to use openers now. Hell, that won’t even be the ugliest thing about this execrable season, I’m afraid.

Don’t know if any of ya’ll saw the 8/6 Thursday night Sox vs. Sox game at Fenway, 13 innings, half a dozen lead changes. A couple of my best buds in Boston were at that game, would’ve been a fun one to see. Two teams probably bound for the post season, bunch of good young players on both sides. Roger Craig was on stage but did not speak live at his enshrinement ceremony at the HOF. They played a tape of him speaking, in which he talks about the dementia. You can easily find the tape on YouTube. Very sorry to hear the dementia news. Being a running back in his era was a recipe for later life health disaster. I think it still is. If I were CMC, I would give it up after this season to limit the long term damage.

Whether they win/lose today, his efforts are being wasted on this death spiral team. I will always say they should have traded him, getting the biggest haul possible for a guy of his talent with this season + 2 more still under contract at very favorable pricing.
The more we see players coming up to play in SF, the more it is obvious the Giants cupboard at AAA is bare of MLB players. I thought Koss would at least be a decent utility guy made into a semi-regular, but his big deficiencies are being exposed now.
Hopefully this Mayer kid out of Boston in the Miller deal will prove to be a find. He’s young, maybe he just needs new scenery. At least he’s coming in with a good attitude, willing to work with Washington on his glove. Yeah way long overdue for Roger Craig the 1st RB to get over 1,000 yards Rushing and 1,000 yards receiving and his high legging running style was truly impressive! Man the epic years of Montana,Rice,Taylor and Craig especially kicking ass on the Rams will always hold a special place in my heart!!
Sad to hear about his dementia symptoms for sure caused by concussions CTE and for sure getting up on stage with the other HOF was to uncomfortable for him, but his prerecorded tape and coming out about his Dementia was truly inspiring!!

Per ESPN stats, No SF catcher is in the top 20 most successful ABS catcher challengers in MLB. As a team, Giants are tied at 24th in MLB with Seattle at 50.9% in team ABS challenge success — so the Giants officially suck at that, too.

Adames contract makes him virtually untradeable. He is far from 100% (as are lot of guys by this time of year), and difficulties with his back are what impacts putting in extra work with Wash, not his laziness or indifference. The Giants could put him IL for 60 and muddle through with yet another Sacto guy but if he says he can play and put support pad on his back on bench that’s how they are rolling. I’d rather not see more of IF backups Kennedy Basabe et al than necessary. Minus Chapman and Schmitt they do need adult in the room on the IF, and clubhouse.
If FO has $50-75 mil or so to play around with, I’d rather see them buy Vitello some quality pitching than spend it trying to get rid of Adames.

I’ve heard all about about his supposed back problem. All about meaning no details, amorphous. As usual with the Giants. A guy sucks for a long time, all of a sudden they talk about a lingering injury nobody has heard of before. If he’s got a bad back, then go on the IL and play somebody healthy.
The guy has to go in the offseason. Whatever it takes.
So sick of Adames and his pussy arm trying these lollipop bounces to 1st base for another error! He has plenty of time to get the runner if he just set and fired a strike!

If Adames weren’t getting paid the massive amount he is, he’d surely be on the IL if he has a bad back. Or would be back in Sac or Arizona re-habbing and trying to improve his overall game. Or just cut. If his back makes him throw like Gumby, then get him the hell to the IL.
There is no way he is some kind of fan magnet to fans coming to the park. I haven’t heard anybody say that here or in media. Fans are coming still because they’ve invested in tickets long ago, or just want a day out at a cool place. It certainly isn’t because of the great ball being played by him.
And “leadership” from him seems like groundless, vapor talk. Leader? How? Leading talent-challenged dudes and under-performing vets to a 20 game underwater result? Leading the MLB in bad SS defense — yeah, that’s it.
BTW, Adames just got thrown out at home in the attempted sac fly. He can’t help that he’s pretty slow, but how about at least a try at a fade away slide instead of sliding straight into the tag? I try to find something positive with this guy, but it’s hard, especially at his salary level and constant underperforming and jackassery.
