Yes, the biggest blown 9th inning league in the 125 year history of the team. They were 2,208-0 when leading by 6 or more in the 9th. Til today.
Up 9-3 in the top of the 9th, the team could not even get an out before Cincy tied it. Bivans came in and really had no clue. Not sure why whoever the interim manager even was didn’t pull him a little faster, but I think it was pretty obvious Bivens didn’t have it. He gave up the longest home run into the cove that I’ve ever seen. Then again, Smith came in and nuked the joint. And the rest was errors, walks and general rookie ball crap.
I guess the lockout is a blessing.

Didn’t think the pooh bahs in charge had it in them to tip the cart over as much as they did, but Weebie, Lee, Adumbass, and Devers still roam the field, and Chappie still haunts the ice bath. Schmitt getting hurt really screwed things up. Anyhow, it ain’t like they were doing shit with these guys here so hey, go get ’em.
Like I said in the thread, Ramos is the only one I’ll really miss. He was a fun guy to watch play. Can’t say that about a lot of this team. Ray was solid enough but the the 5-inning brick wall, but I guess there’s an endless supply of 30-something pitchers to pick from to rehab their careers with a 1-2 year stint on the Giants.

well there’s the proverbial haul of prospects…some of whom might help ML club in 2/3 years. The Mayer kid (who is still hurt iirc) from BoSox was given 70 game run of 200 ABs, and is hitting .220 with OPS of .594.
Tidwell gets first ML start ever today, after Nate Furman got his at leadoff and DH yesterday. Hasn’t pitched for Giants since April; and has 12 ML innings total under his belt. Tomorrow (per slush) is an opener game, followed by Houser.
So what are Giants doing for rest of this year and next? Or is Posey staring at 4th and 12 from 26 yard line and saying, “time to punt?”
At least we might see some interesting ball every once in a while. Even if we end up having the worst record next year the earliest we can draft is 10th. Since most of the guys we picked up yesterday are pitchers it’s hard to say if we got anyone who understands how to run the bases, maybe bunt, or field their positions. I think Kent might be one of the best pickups we got.
In the Farhan years, many fans didn’t like what seemed like revolving door players, no sense of *team*. I’d guess that’s what we’ll see the rest of this year; I mean, what else is there? Less than 2 months to assess what’s what and who’s who. I would also guess the FO will be more active in the coming offseason; they’ll have to be if they don’t want to be looking down a very long road of rebuild. Actually, I don’t think that road will be too long, looking forward to see how it all goes, the next 2 months and over the winter….
Will Webb teach Whiz how to be tricky? Will a healthy Jung Hoo Lee continue to dazzle? Will Adames finally take his broken back to the IL and give us the palliative respite from his incompetence we deserve? Will Eldridge raise himself back into the ROY race? What an exciting finish to the season. And that doesn’t even touch on the live wires like cavanaugh and basabe and tugboat. Oh, man!

I don’t have a problem witnessing this team crater even more with a bunch of no name dudes up from Sac and even AA guys brought up to see what they can do. I welcome it. The Giants are an addict having to finally admit he’s hit rock bottom, and has to either clean up his act or go to jail / get sized for a coffin.
Is it better to be 18 games underwater and no hope with Ramos and Arraez and Ray and those other 3 throwaway dudes, or 25 games under without them, but with a hopefully better stocked farm system for the future? I’ll take the latter. Yeah, no guarantees Posey and his “brain trust” picked the right new farmhands to help out 2+ seasons from now. None at all. Chances are good not all of them will pan out. But, the price of doing nothing was clear — crap staff and team the rest of this season, this decade and beyond. I think they will rue the choice not to trade Webb, who would have pulled an actual haul in return given he has 2+ years left on his deal — probably a bigger haul than Skubal who is just a rental this season — unless he has done a wink-wink deal already with LA.

I think it is always pretty amusing, especially today’s episode, and some good info on the inside workings of the Giants. Crowley was a beat writer on the Giants for the Merc for 5 years, he knows his ball. Very negative on the Giants situation, with some good evidence for that opinion. Sounds to me like in addition to the roster, the entire coaching staff is a tire fire, the pitching coaches are clueless, and we might expect that entire situation to be remedied in the offseason. Vitello may be one and done according to these guys. Upshot: the entire Giants organization is a mess, needs major surgery.
IMOl perhaps the biggest question out there is whether Buster is the guy to fix this, since he has his hands on part of why this mess exists.
