! ! ! ! Can’t get any lower. Still I feel I’m sinking ! ! ! !

Outshined by Chris Cornell and Soundgarden. The theme song for your SF Giants 2026 team.

In a season full of pitching debacles and crushing losses, they managed to pull one out for the ages.

Yes, the biggest blown 9th inning league in the 125 year history of the team. They were 2,208-0 when leading by 6 or more in the 9th. Til today.

Up 9-3 in the top of the 9th, the team could not even get an out before Cincy tied it. Bivans came in and really had no clue. Not sure why whoever the interim manager even was didn’t pull him a little faster, but I think it was pretty obvious Bivens didn’t have it. He gave up the longest home run into the cove that I’ve ever seen. Then again, Smith came in and nuked the joint. And the rest was errors, walks and general rookie ball crap.

I guess the lockout is a blessing.

For Dolly . . .

You guys talking about AK got me to thinking about a couple of girls I used to know from Biwabic MN. They would travel up there and spend around 3 months at a time. Make a lot of money and come back down. They would always stop in Reno on the way home to visit friends. That’s were I met em they were sweet girls, thanks for the memory.

I was more pissed V left Gibby in against a lefty. Come on, man.

V is really making it easy for Buster to say adios.

Thanks, Snarkk for the itinerary. We kayaked around the islands in Tofino, Canada a little while ago. Fun stuff.

I just couldn’t believe the folks surfing up there in 50° temps and 45° water. Place called Long Beach of all things. Most of the folks working there were from the colonies. NZ, Australia, India and the like.

The coastline around Tofino is amazing. Some years ago, we took a day trip on a supply ship to Tofino via Ucluelet from Port Alberni. The ocean beaches and islands and rocks from Ucluelet to Tofino is incredibly beautiful and treacherous — fantastic trip. No way I would want to do that on a foggy day…

Be nice to say no regrets. I mean (as with Harrison), the giants weren’t the only team to whiff on Hicks. But if Tibbs continues to rake for the dodgers….

Giants don’t score with man on third and no outs. This team is so repetitively lame, it’s no wonder they are 17 games underwater. Things that just decent teams routinely accomplish, much less good teams, they just repeatedly cannot do.

  5. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Yeah, never hit to the right side with a runner on 1st, never (rarely) take the extra base, never use their speed. Throws go to the plate and the back runner doesn’t take 2nd. Thing is guys like Cox, Gibby, and Lee are fast but we don’t pressure defenses. Pettis is a godsend at 3rd, but the overall run game is non-existent. And fuck the analytics on this because where is not running getting us?

    A manufactured run…

  7. willedav's avatar willedav says:

Analytic stat FIP seeks to measure things a pitcher can control, such as BB K and HR In the NL, Giants pitchers are 2nd worst for BBs, and 3rd worst for Ks.

2 big add on runs will it be enough?

  9. xoot's avatar xoot says:

this ump crew openly despises Vitello.

  10. snarkk's avatar snarkk says:

Umps screwed the Giants on that call. Highly suspicious on how they came up with that decision.

Then, predictably, more jackassery and misery delivered by the Giants “relievers”.

Make any bunt to a Giants pitcher and you have a good shot at him F’ing up the defensive play. Hentjes, no exception…

  11. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Yep 3 runs not enough for this choke team..

5-3 Royals as every pitcher as usual give it up ..Ballgame! 1-44 after trailing late continues on..

  12. snarkk's avatar snarkk says:

Well, the usual late inning collapse with Pen implosion is in full flower. Like clockwork. All it took was that bad call at 2nd to trigger it.

Kat’s stat of Giants just 1-43 in games they trail after the 6th inning is amazing. Doesn’t give much hope now that they’ve blown a 3 run lead to trail 5-3 heading into the 8th…

  13. snarkk's avatar snarkk says:

Ho Hum, another close loss after another Pen meltdown and limited offensive output. Schmitt’s solo HR late in the 9th too liittle, too late. A good starting performance wasted.

Giants to me at 18 games under .500, 5 losses in a row — now look primed to take a nosedive.

Nothing going right, umps openly jobbing them, players realize this season is toast, and probably every player on edge about getting traded, as they should be.

Lookout, this ship is headed for 20+ games underwater with Charybdis in view, with Tony V their leader not exactly a close variant of Odysseus ….

  14. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Oh yeah, the game’s on. We lost already?

Jesus. Saw the lowlights. Roupp Dee Doo seems to be putting toghether some good outings at least. I know he gave up the homer, but not sure how the rest played out besides the pen giving up 3 more.

Gibby tagging on the sac fly is just stupid fucking baseball. Sure, he made it, but that is flat dumb. Dumb dumb dumb.

This team is absolutely clueless about this kind of stuff.

  15. Winder's avatar Winder says:

Pretty sad state of affairs. Never seen the G-men this bad for so long. A good housecleaning might just be refreshing. Too bad the V situation just hasen’t worked. I thought some youth there would be a good thing. He should go back to the college game.

    • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

I just don’t get the love affair with Gilbert. Even vs lefties. He’s like 1-40 and V won’t pinch hit.

      • Winder's avatar Winder says:

They rarely play hit and run too. I’m ready for some Billy Ball at least they were fun to watch. I guess we would need a Ricky Henderson. I would trade the whole team for a Ricky.

  16. djloo27's avatar djloo27 says:

Gilbert fuckin sucks. He’s like a quadriplegic Dan Gladden…

  17. willedav's avatar willedav says:

Using same combo in same order, Hentges and Winn in relief a day after they both blew game the day before, smells of “fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.” Hentges always has a screw up like an HBP or an error, and Winn swings wildly between good pitches and meatballs with zero command.
What a disaster Giants are now.

  18. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Danny Gladden and Rob Deer. Wow. The good old bad old days.

Shit, look at this lineup. Jack Clark and Leonard in the OF, rookie Chili Davis. Rob Deer waiting to explode. For the Brewers. Not terrible. Pitching was pretty awful tho. And Johnny Disaster.

This is what happens to MAGA baseball teams that only care about real estate and supporting homophobia. Buster is a fraud but you guys support this trash team anyway.

    • snarkk's avatar snarkk says:

Maybe you should do a bit of reading and see where some of us have repeatedly criticized this ownership and management for years for exactly the things you are talking about that have recently been highlighted in the news. Inform yourself.

  20. Paul Sorensen's avatar Paul Sorensen says:

I never viewed the Giants (or any team in the Bay Area) as a MAGA team. It is a bit odd that this team, in supposed liberal bastion San Francisco, has a majority owner who seems to be ultra right-wing, and the ballpark’s naming rights go to the Ellisons, who are part of Trump’s “kitchen cabinet”… Not sure how that happened. But doubtful it has much of anything to do with how the team is run. I don’t know Buster’s politics — I would guess conservative but not MAGA — but again, doesn’t matter and doesn’t make him a “fraud” in any respect. I am indeed still fully supportive of Posey trying to build something meaningful. For another couple of years, anyway.

That said: it is both surprising and disappointing that the FO completely whiffed on this season’s pitching staff, the rotation to some extent but especially the bullpen. It’s painful to watch most games in the late innings now, knowing the ‘pen will probably blow it. It’s not helping that Vitello doesn’t seem to manage the ‘pen very well (the aforementioned use of Hentges and Winn in consecutive games, with consecutive bad results). It might take years to rebuild a decent bullpen. Hopefully, pitchers will want to pitch at Oracle and this should be FO’s focus.
