Yes, the biggest blown 9th inning league in the 125 year history of the team. They were 2,208-0 when leading by 6 or more in the 9th. Til today.
Up 9-3 in the top of the 9th, the team could not even get an out before Cincy tied it. Bivans came in and really had no clue. Not sure why whoever the interim manager even was didn’t pull him a little faster, but I think it was pretty obvious Bivens didn’t have it. He gave up the longest home run into the cove that I’ve ever seen. Then again, Smith came in and nuked the joint. And the rest was errors, walks and general rookie ball crap.
I guess the lockout is a blessing.

Not a real fan of getting players out of high school. However, Oakland schools used to produce quite a few good ones. Maybe I just haven’t been paying attention but I think we should look there. And, i don’t know the policy if walk-on’s can try out if they want.

Yeah that was a wild crazy game going 23 innings (we don’t need no ghost runners lol) in the 14th inning the Giants had Alou at second Mays at first and red hot Cepeda up when Manager Alvin Dark put a hit and run play and Cepeda smoked a line drive that was caught by an infielder that turned into a Triple Play!
23 rd inning Davenport hit a triple to right and Crandall pinch hitting for Perry knocked him in with a hit for the lead, they added one more and won 8-6..

Looks like Giants world is effectively unchanged in the past 2 weeks. Now back to 16 games underwater. The moose I saw up North are definitely having a better 2026 season.
Last night, though he homered, it’s just more, continuing Adamass jackasssery in the field and relentlessly suckage relief pitching combined to give up the game late. Gyros lead MLB in walk-off losses at 8. The runner-ups with 7 are elite losers, too — Angels and Rockies and Royals.

in 73 when I worked on a salmon boat out of Petersburg we hated cruise ships. The wakes would travel miles and fuck up our work. Petersburg itself had no dock for the huge ships so we missed the crowds. Thankfully. Other southeastern towns weren’t so lucky. It’s only gotten worse. E.g.,

Hey, I was a ski-bum living in my van for 3 years (well, not the whole time.) I get the push-pull of tourism over small town life. Back then (80s) Aspen went from 3,000 in the summer to 12,000 in the winter. Towns like Aspen though would have dried up and blown away without skiing. The mining died off in the 60s (?) I think and ranching can only take you so far without Hollywood (Kirt Russell/Goldie Hawk still live out there) type money.
As far as Alaska goes, I’d be there to see the glaciers and the wildlife, not stop in Juneau. No idea where they go and where they stop but the cities aren’t what I’d be there for.
Friend of mine used to go salmon fishing out there on the seaplanes to remote lakes, but my wife isn’t really into that so this is where I’m at.
Anyhow, I was hoping to hear from Tom.

My parents went years ago to Alaska and they had a great cruise experience going thru the “Inside Passage” it’s the best way to go up to Juneau.The sheltered area makes it calmer on the water instead of the choppier Pacific outside run.great sightseeing along the way,Whales,Orcas,Bald Eagles, etc, beautiful mountains.Think they left out of Seattle but San Francisco does trips as well..
before today Giants led mlb with 92 DPs. Royals were next with 89. They’re catching up. Feels odd that two shitty teams should be the leaders.

We flew to Anchorage and stayed a day and a half. Anchorage may be the ugliest city in the US. Did a 22 mile bike RT ride along the Anchorage coastal area, pretty cool. Saw Native Alaskan culture center — pretty good as those things go, and the Anchorage Museum — really good one with lots of native artifacts and tribal comparison stuff. Took day train from Anchorage to Spencer Glacier — did raft trip on that Glacier lake and then 7 miles down the outflowing Placer River towards Turnagain Arm. Picked up by train out in the middle of nowhere to go back to Anchorage. Cool. Then, rented a car. Drove into/around Kenai peninsula — Girdwood, Kenai, Soldotna, Homer, Seward. Did a morning sea kayak tour around Fox Island in Resurraction Bay across from Seward, also a wildlife boat tour of that bay and glaciers. Couple of day hikes up to some waterfalls, and the Exit Glacier above Seward. Spent a day on the Homer spit and Homer town — Mrs. snarkk has a relative there. Beautiful, big country. Rained a ton, though….
Decided not to go to Denali. The main/only road into the park is closed by a massive rockslide halfway into the park. Multiple recommendations not to go and spend 3 days waiting for cloud cover to clear as you cannot see the mountain and best backcountry views, even if the day is not clouded over. Next time…

Both times I lived in central AK the month of May was magnificent. Rain kicked in later in the summer On a clear day, I could see Denali on the horizon from my office at the state supreme court in Anchorage.
Did not go to Denali. Massive rockslide has blocked main/only park road halfway in to the major viewing areas. Slide will not be cleared before end of the season. Many recommendations not to waste time and money to go if you may visit again. We figured we’ll go back someday to see more…

Not to mention the 2 engagement throws and McCray never took off knowing it’s a balk! This team as usual have no fundamental skills, so easily why their 1-43 after 6 innings trailing..
