Yes, the biggest blown 9th inning league in the 125 year history of the team. They were 2,208-0 when leading by 6 or more in the 9th. Til today.
Up 9-3 in the top of the 9th, the team could not even get an out before Cincy tied it. Bivans came in and really had no clue. Not sure why whoever the interim manager even was didn’t pull him a little faster, but I think it was pretty obvious Bivens didn’t have it. He gave up the longest home run into the cove that I’ve ever seen. Then again, Smith came in and nuked the joint. And the rest was errors, walks and general rookie ball crap.
I guess the lockout is a blessing.

AK, I am one of those guys. Only because I think we have better outfielders. Nevertheless, I am open minded about keeping him. I like Bericoto in right over Ramos, as I think he is a better fielder . . . but that’s only if he continues to hit like he has. Hey, I want all these guys to continue to hit and smash . . . Gives Buster a lot of options at the trade deadline.
Earlier in the season the only way I could imagine improving the staff was trading Ramos. Now such a trade makes no sense. Also, Vamos Ramos has returned from his long rehab on fire, determined not to let the many other OFs on the roster displace him. I like that. But I like Bericoto, too. And Lee is better in RF. So, once again we have a jam, esp given the three CFs also on the team.

If we can string about a 1/2 dozen or more games like this between now and the trade deadline, Buster will have quite a few options.

Caught some of Kentucky racing at Ellis Park yesterday on FDTV…who eliminated all the on air personnel. Very sad for all those with racing backgrounds (trainers jocks etc.) who had provided content and paddock info. At least the track announcer’s voice could be heard.
One of the fox channels (FS2 iirc) used to do racing from Saratoga. Hopefully the people involved in on air stuff haven’t been wiped out there as well as their season begins.

Yes. It will be interesting to see how Schmitt handles rest of season. His June OPS was .666, .262/.264/.402. He did not get 1 BB the entire month in 100 ABs, big dropoff from May when he hit 8 HRs. So far July 5-22. hmmn

One off season move Buster got right. I was very skeptical Arraez would work out but could not have been more wrong. What a breath of fresh air he’s been for Giants.
Arraez has been terrific. None of his teams have used him well until now and this team is too jumbled up to make the most of his skills. Or spirit. Best thing about this season is watching him every day.
Schmitt’s numbers have dipped while other hitters are enjoying the juiced ball that appeared after Memorial Day. But he’s still fine. His dogged, unbowed emergence is another thing to appreciate this year. I can’t see them trading him. But markets are unpredictable.
What Schmitt has done without taking walks is pretty impressive. Per Fangraphs, he’s swinging at pitches on the edge/off the plate at the same high rate he did his first couple of years, but making better than league avg. contact with them now. His overall hard hit rate is also above avg. and his uninflated by luck BABIP of 302 reflects that. No way to see it broken down by month, but the eye test doesn’t seem to show someone recently looking lost at the plate, his ABs against Gausman notwithstanding.
Casey right now is the ideal for some Flappers, a reasonably productive hitter who, without descending into Sandoval-like idiocy, rarely looks at strike 3.

ATF (Foghorn) has story about Krukow, who was acquired from Phils in exchange for late Al Holland. Holland himself was part of the Bill Madlock 1979 deal coming over from Pirates along with Fred Breining and Ed Whitson. Holland had solid career sad to hear of his passing.
1979 Madlock for some reason was only hitting .261 for Giants at time of the trade, and rebounded with Pops and Co. to help them win it all over Orioles. Used to wear black 3 rings Pirate hat for many years.

If you hit a SF or FC in that situation, your team has about a 25% chance of scoring another run or more. With no runners on and two outs, you have about a 7% chance of scoring 1 or more. With runners on first and third and no outs, there’s about a 15% chance you don’t score at all, and slightly less than half the time you score only the one run.
Given the above, and the fact that you can be rewarded with an RBI for a poorly hit grounder or lazy fly ball, I’d say award the RBI on the DP.

I’m keeping Arreaz and I would try and extend him for 2/40 option for a 3rd year, or even a 3/57 package?and I believe he wants to be here and Coach Ron Washington is a HUGE Influence on him making him such a valuable asset on defense and every AB is not only fun to watch, when runners are on base u know he won’t K !! Just a proven player throughout his career and a great attitude/clubhouse guy , so why trade for a few prospects that will never workout??
Definitely trying to trade Chapman are Adumass and eat most of either ones contract for any possible deal, cause no team will talk without that happening.You dump either one it opens up Schmitt at SS or 3B ..3rd obviously would be better, it’s his natural position,just have to wait and see if Posey starts the rebuild..
It isn’t really a rebuild. Yeah, I sound like Larry Baer. It’s like what the 49ers did last year by dumping a shit-ton of salary and bad contracts.
It was fairly amazing they were able to do so well (parity) despite losing a lot of depth plus the injuries they faced.
well they will have to find pitching somewhere minus Ray; guys were out there last year and they didn’t spend squat on pen or SP. I struggle to believe Posey will say hey I know I got your OK to sign these guys (and extended chapman deal with Boras and NTC) but now we need to pay them off to not play for us and throw some more cash out there to improve staff.
Finding CF (unless you pivot back to Lee) until kids are ready and C wouldn’t hurt either, 2 more spots he botched.
Yaeh, my biggest sticking point with this season is the lack of attention paid to the starters and the pen.
Thinking Mahler and Dookie were gonna solve the starter issue and praying Walker and the cast of no-names was gonna cut it was extremely short-sighted.
And plenty of folks felt the same way before the season started.
I agree Kat. With Arraez, I’ve probably not been as excited to watch a Giant come to the plate since … dunno .. Bonds? Runners up this year for me in that category are are Lee & Schmitt. I’d much prefer Arraez as face-of-the-franchise than Chapman or Adames. And, if all goes well, Eldridge or Schmitt can assume that role some few years down the road.

Yep Loo it is. Certainly, Bum was thrilling with a bat and probably a few others come to mind if I think on it hard enough (I always loved Ellis Burk’s PAs). Maybe Arraez at the plate stands out in extra relief because he is surrounded by such a bunch of chumps?!?
