For those who served and to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice, you are not forgotten. Strangely enough both my grandfather (born in 1900) and my father (born in 1925) didn’t make it out of training before the respective wars ended. Dear old dad was training to be a fighter pilot and got a little seat time in a P-51 when the war ended. Funny thing is, my oldest sister was born in 1950. She broke the streak by having her daughter in 1968.
Lots of chatter out there about 4th round OT pick Carver Willis being the guy who helps solidify this swiss cheese O line by winning the left guard spot. Let’s hope so. That still leaves the revolving door that is Jake Brendel, at center but one thing at a time. Someone may fall out of a troster somewhere hopefully.
As for the hapless Giants? Yesterday is kinda what we thought the team would be. Decent hitting with middling pitching. Instead we get 1-2 game sa week where everything lines up surrounded by 4-5 that don’t.
Not sure how we get out of this other than to hope all their slow starters wake up. There’s plenty of time to get things right, but with the pitching being so scattershot with the starters AND the pen, depending on this team to consistently hit its way to victory is proving to be too much.
Hope y’all have a nice long weekend, and gland to hear Paul is on the mend. We al seem to be about the age where maladies and medical procedures are the grist of the mill.
Just read Craig Morton passed, 83 yrs old that is a long life for the era of football he played in, RIP Craig
Yep, getting old sucks at times, I am getting my right knee replaced. Did the left leg 3 years ago. Right now the knee is so painful, am limited to walking my dog around the block. Kaiser is backlogged for orthopedic surgeries 6 months. I am looking at October is the latest, hopefully some cancellation will come through
Oh, sorry to hear. I read Kaiser is trying to build new facility in SF. friend of mine bought condo in isolated retirement community in San Jose foothills but has Kaiser nearby. Something we all have to think about, access to getting care it seems inevitable we’ll need.
For all the well deserved complaints about Giants lack of offense and run scoring, pitching imo is bigger issue. Neither Ray nor Webb have been ace like, and the other SPs not named Roupp haven’t been much help. Couple that with ill advised reliance on likes of Miller and Walker to open season as guys you can trust late game and there you have recipe for disaster. Can Winn and Kilian or any of LHs hold up for 4 more months? why is Borucki still here?
they are bottom 10 for most pitching stats in NL–runs allowed, hits BBs, WHIP, ERA FIP. That shouldn’t happen at yard like Oracle and other than a Carson (whis) hard to see help on way.
Paul’s situation reminds that a lot of us are of a certain age where the ol’ prostate may start acting up. Not to be a doctor, but it does help if you take a prostate health supplement regularly. Really good thing is a broad spectrum supplement with things like saw palmetto, pygeum, pumpkin seed oil and especially lycopene. Lycopene is in tomatoes, especially cooked tomatoes and sauces. A good daily dose of it in your food or in a supplement is a good idea — it is super good for slowing down an over growing prostate. Lots of info out there on this topic and recommended dosages of supplement items — some of it BS, so pay attention to who is supplying the info.
I drink 4 or more cups/day of green tea also for prostate health. The good stuff, free leaf green tea, not cheesy tea bags — they contain the leavings of the tea leaf processing. Green tea has a ton of good ingredients (“catechins” in particular) that has clinical background showing it has some protection effects against cancer development in the prostate as well as elsewhere. Any type of loose leaf green tea works, just find one or two you like. Several cups/day also helps keeps you hydrated — always a good thing.
Forgot to mention that most green tea contains some amount of caffeine. If you drink your several couple of cups in the morning and/or afternoon or spread them out during the day, that shouldn’t be a problem. You can find decaf green tea out there, if you want to drink at night so as to avoid sleep problems. The decaf process reportedly does not interfere with the desired goodies in the tea chemistry. Green tea is not a magic bullet, but it is an arrow in the quiver.
Schmitt has a hot bat, and getting production off it.
Per radio, Devers’ double would have been a homer in every other MLB ballpark. I think this kind of stuff messes with the Giants hitters’ minds. And, a reason why no sluggers want to come to the Giants without a massive salary premium. Also, another reason why I don’t understand why the Giants continue to draft LHed power hitters (Eldridge) instead of RHed power hitters, and instead draft fast, LHed line drive hitters — to take advantage of Triples Alley.
Schmitt’s on FIRE.
Schmitt’s emergence is stunning. On pace for over 30/90…
A couple/few seasons ago at his first call up, he came out the gate very fast and was the talk-of-the-town for hot minute. Then — I don’t recall him getting injured — he faded about as fast as he came on. One of the few bright spots this season, so far.
And that’s why you don’t have a catcher playing the outfield.Thats 2 now for Rodriguez he’s butchered..
Well, so much for Ray’s trade value. Pfffttt! Giants were saying that he was tipping off pitches as an excuse. Said afterwards they had corrected it.
Nope. What’s the next excuse or reason???
92 pitches in 4 innings with 7 freaking walks. Is not going to help his trade value for sure ,Ray’s been awful for awhile now..
7 ,8,9 hitters are an OF trio of Rodriguez,Bader, and Bericotto ? Doubt anyone had this guys are your bingo card..
Grandevers! Blasted!!
Devers slam!
Getting tired of our guys getting hit by Sox. Bomb by Devers!
Now with a big lead, LET’S GET SOME PAYBACK AND DRILL A COUPLE OF THESE MOFOs.
Agree Paybacks a Bitch time to drill some White Sox’s I’m sure Arreaz would agree with us!!
Devers finally getting a swing going with some consistency. He used to hit a ton to LF and the Green Monster when he was at Fenway. He should focus on trying to hit oppo, and his swing should improve — avoid those constant grounders to the right of the diamond.
This is pretty crazy. Looks like Devers is heating up. As is Adames.
Like they say, it ain’t how you start, it’s how you finish.
Last year at this point we were in 1st place and looking to make a move. We all know how that turned out.
They’ve got a little better idea with thew bullpen I think.
Fucking Bofucking has to go. Walker can cool his heels in Sacto. The rest? Closer? I don’t know.
Don’t forget Miller, I never ever want to see Walker or Miller on the mound
Kilian’s Red is the closer?
That’s a wrap
Hey! A series win. Let’s hope they can do this against the D-Bags. Payback is now.

Last 2 games the Giants look like a different team.
No consistency though, win a series and then get swept in the next one
Umm, yeah. Wait and see. Glad they are playing the Snakes again, as they swept the Gmen.
After the Snakes, they go on the road and face the Rockies, Brewers, and Cubs. All tough in their ball parks. Brew crew and Cubs very, very tough in their parks.
Bats come alive great way to end weekend. Now get some payback on DBax. Kelly Rodriguez and Soroka are the SPs, only 1 LHP. Leave Schmitt in LF and let Eldridge DH at least vs. RHPs; doesn’t seem like Ramos is due back anytime soon and rest of OF beside Bader- Rodriguez Brennan Bericoto Gilbert- is very weak.
In the bottom of the 8th we had 2 on with Adames and Arreaz coming to bat. Adames swung at a sure ball 4 and struck out and Arreaz struck out on a pitch that looked like one of wild things. And to me that is what our season boils down to. Don’t get me wrong I love that we scored 8 runs but we should have had more.
Good point Winder. Agree that was a weird sequence, particularly with Arreaz, whom rarely swings at a bad pitch (inside and up) . . . Dunno if it was in reaction to being hit twice or what.
Adames? Go figure. He’s almost aways swinging for the fences with his uppercut swing. Still having a crappy season, despite 3 bombs in last 6 days.
Giants first round pick (#13) last year Gavin Kilen is hitting .316 for High A Eugene, and playing SS. Might get moved to AA later this year…not far away, maybe. somebody to keep eye on.
Rather have Outfielder Bo Davidson make the jump who’s at AA right now over the shit ass outfielders we have right now..
Giants have like 5 SS prospects seems like trade candidates to me since Mr.Gatorade isn’t going anywhere.Outfield is where the major help is needed, along with pitchers that can go more than 5 innings..
Yeah AK, 2 of the SS are in the top 50 of all MLB, but as Willie said the other day, they’re practically low or high A league at the moment. Forgot their names, but one is Jhonny (weird hispanic spelling for Johnny).
Just found it . . . Both of these guys are supposed to be rising studs in the Giants minor league system. Probably years away though.
1. Josuar Gonzalez, SS
2. Jhonny Level, SS
Killen is ranked #5 in the Giants minor league system, but as Willie said is much, much closer to the big leagues versus the two I mentioned.*
https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/47684227/2026-top-10-prospect-rankings-all-30-mlb-teams-kiley-mcdaniel#sf
*Eldridge is still listed #2, so I moved Level up a spot and Killen is #4.
As WilleD pointed out, pitching is maybe a bigger concern than hitting with neither Webb or Ray producing like the aces they were supposed to be. Yet, there remains the fact that G’s are #5 in HITS and #29 in RUNS which points to the ol’ RISP issue.
I hope our bats give Roupp some support today. These are the games we need to win to stay alive.
Yes. I hope Roupp can keep pitch count down-2 starts ago it took like 105 for him to get through 5.1 vs. Dodgers and game before that 94 in 4 innings in game he lost to Pirates. Last time he faced DBax he did pretty well, but Vitello tends to leave guys with high pitch counts in too long, doing same thing to Ray in earlier games.
I think that’s thing I hate most about game today–always looking at pitch count.
Not bad 15 pitch inning.
If Roupp can limit Marte, Carroll and Arenado to a total of 3 hits, chances are good the Giants can win. He needs to throw strikes, and quit the 80 pitch in 4 frames throwing, not pitching.
DEVERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
