Looks like Jed is gonna get a shit-ton of frequent flyer miles this year. I’m not sure who on the team pissed in the Cheerios of the NFL scheduling committee but we again seem to bear the brunt of assinine scheduling. Last year it was 2 Thursday games, short weeks with 3 time zone jumps, and now 2 international games. Australia here we come!
And Mexico City again. Football is hard enough with out the added stress of travelling. If they had half a brain, we would get our bye week after the 17 hour flight to Sydney, but we do get our Thursday game opening day at least. Oh yeah, and another one in December.
Sucks we couldn’t get more than a split vs the Dogs, but as usual we were consistently inconsistent. Landed in Seattle last nighr and on our way to Whidbey Island this morning and then Canada.
There still doesn’t seem to be a rational or logical reason why the *hitters* ain’t hittin’. We’ve all said this, on paper this team looks like it should hit. Can so many people be so wrong? When players continue to make mental errors more than physical ones, maybe those players aren’t coachable or “learnable”. Get rid of ’em. Maybe the coaches completely suck. Maybe there’s a cancerous presence in the clubhouse, although I haven’t heard anything like that. There’s gotta be something besides “these guys suck”. They can’t all suck. Or can they….
Wow, Schmitt goes yard twice !
Add his stats to Chapman’s and you’ve got a third sacker who is maybe worth Chapman’s salary…
Fielder’s choice and error on Chapman play. He did get on base but it’s not a hit.
Bader almost with a slam. Schmitt loves this park. they got the kid 5 runs.
Wow he got on base with a check swing Force Out yippee 6-66 (Omen Damien) the power is gone for sure the K’s are not .If not for Schmitt going off and Adames miraculously picking up Devers, with a 2 out knock and of course getting thrown out for the second time and they still blow RISP ,Bader,Chapman,Devers etc otherwise every thing is great!
Mc D through 6 well done.
Took a dry heat sauna; and, saw the GMen were killing the A’s . . . So, tuned in to the Carano Rousey UFC fight . . . It was literally over in 15-20 seconds, Rousey pinning the right arm of Carano on the ground (arm bar I think it is called) and Carano in so much pain, she said, “uncle” (or maybe, “aunt”). Shortest fight I have seen I think outside of a Tyson fight.
Sounds like a money grab.
A bunch of gamblers are not going to be happy with what sounds like a dive? …
At first glance, that might be the case. However, that’s how Rousey won most of her UFC matches when she fought years ago. That “arm bar” move won at least 75% of her past matches. Usually, she won very quickly, albeit, not this fast.
Loo, the kid CF for A’s Bolte got drafted right out of Palo Alto HS in 2nd round.
Jeremy Lin played HS ball at Paly and iirc won State Championship. I coached there for couple years and met the guy who later coached Lin.
Good catch by Bader!
Arraez with another bomb. Sheesh, can you imagine how many runs the Giants could score if they played half their games in this park?
Exactly. they look like 1927 Yankees.
That was a pretty nice inning 10-12 pitches
I wish we could do this more often
Bader slam!
Yeah announces his presence with authority. A’s must have fumbled 4 different balls this inning. These guys are (or were) in first place?
This is fun. Bader big bomb
12 hits; and, 10 runs . . . Outstanding! Heading to another hot place (Snakes), so hopefully, they’ve saved a few hits and runs for the journey.
Small sample size, but just thinking about our park, insofar as poor hitting is concerned, do you think the mediocre SF weather, dismal park dimensions, particularly in “triples alley” – will have Buster thinking more about the future acquisition and development of pitching versus trying to sign big free agent hitters and development of same (again, not abandoning that, but just emphasizing pitching more)?
I guess my point is that the Gmen scored 21 runs in 3 games here in Sac, so it seems like this team can hit??? I asked AI and it said this:
“What you just witnessed over the weekend was a perfect storm of an anomalous breakout by a struggling offense, a vulnerable pitching staff, and—most importantly—the highly unique environment of the A’s temporary home.
Putting up 6 runs on Saturday and exploding for 10 runs on Sunday is absolutely an anomaly for this Giants offense, which entered the series ranked dead last in MLB at just 3.4 runs per game.”
Sooooo, forget about what I just said at the beginning of this post. lol
Blake Snell, elbow surgery on Tuesday. Out for the year.
Not going down a negative road on this dude, but I believe in karma. Are the Giants still paying some of this guy’s salary, or was that over last season?
Man, I disliked that guy. Everything was about him. Not a team player at all.
Eldridge back in starting lineup with Schmitt in LF while Ramos is out. Perfect time for him to actually do something with the bat. He has 2 hits in 24 ABs, 3 BBs 9 Ks and an OPS that rivals that of Bailey, plus the one bomb.
DO something that makes Giants stand up and take notice and say we need this kid to “help score more runs” as Posey said when he dumped Bailey off to Cleveland.
Yeah Eldridge is still a rookie being up here and like most younger players they just need consistent REPS out there.A huge learning curve being patience at the plate and not hitting the pitchers slop against pitchers he’s never faced either .
Its totall difference raking AAA pitchers at a bandbox park then hitting against the truly best pitchers up in the Show..But if the Giants give him an extended run in the LU he can help this team even with his up&downs..
Great start by Ray.
4.1 innings 11 hits 9 runs 8 earned 2walks 1 K weak Ray go torched as his trade value takes a huge hit..
Vitello should have taken him out sooner. It was clear he had nothing tonight. If I’m a manager, I don’t let my supposed #2 arm take an unnecessary beating, especially since he’s a likely trade chip at the All Star break. You can argue Vitello didn’t want to waste Pen arms early, but I ain’t buyin’ it. No way you let your #2 take 9 earnies in the shorts, that’s just BS. First real thing I’ve had issue with Vitello. IMO he still can’t be blamed much for this season fiasco so far, Buster handed him a S sandwich roster that doesn’t fit together at all. E.g.., tonight, you’ve got Schmitt playing LField for the first time since high school — that’s the solution for Ramos’ on the IL ? …
Giants trying to outdo the A’s defensive collapse yesterday. Just when you think maybe, maybe they are getting their S together, they go back to pathetic. Boy Howdy — what a debacle — when the Giants are bad, they are friggin’ atrocious.
On reflection, the reality is this team really does suck most of the time and is going nowhere this season. Buster will need to work some trades and bring some of these vaunted AAA and AA position players up to see what they can actually do…
