All-Time Post of Forever (#1)
NJ49er
says:
September 7, 2011 at 7:40 pm (Edit)
I see this Season starting with lots of motion and ground attack.
Our OL is going to take time to adjust to the new system, however, a WCO should help them once Alex and the WRs get into the necessary rhythm.
Game 1, lots of Gore and Hunter, 9ers win a close one. I do expect Harbaugh to take some deep shots though, VD and Braylon will be a nice duo.

Well Lee, and Erreas are hitting. And Jesus seems to be hitting better than Bailey.
Niner Fans,
Hey, I want to apologize (for myself) to the long time 49er fans here for the seemingly non-stop talk (mostly bitching and moaning) about the Giants. Still a 49er blog that belongs to everyone here. Unc and you guys are fantastic to allow us “orphans” to post here. Again, thank you!
Blade
I second Blade’s opinion. Again, thank you Chuck, and all the 49er fans here, for your benevolence.
On Niner news and I did not know this, but Terrell Owen’s is worried about Evan’s hamstring issues he has had over the last few years.
Yeah we gotta figure that most/all of our older guys probably won’t play over 10-12 games and that might be a high estimate. I mean everyone has a long injury track record already. And after reading about M. Williams he just might not be ready for a long time. Injuries are about the only thing I hold my breath about… and field goals.
Walker and Santos pfffttt (to Sac) . . . and,
LHP Sam Hentges (#31) returned from his rehab assignment and reinstated from the 15-day IL. • RHP Dylan Smith (#66) recalled from Triple-A Sacramento.
Finally, for Walker. Let him walk and hit guys and throw wild pitches in Sac.
I saw somewhere yesterday that the guy they got in the Bailey trade was NOT one of Cleveland’s top 30 farmhands. Not true, I see this morning. This AA pitcher “Tugboat” is apparently #6 rated in their stable. So, OK, much better smelling trade than I first understood.
Sure, the #29 draft pick is better than a kick in the nuts, but not as good as a player with a real history. I heard on KNBR this morning that the #29 or 30 pick in the baseball draft typically has a 60% chance of making the majors, with a 15% or so chance of being a real contributor. Some #29 picks have been Billy Swift, Kingman. Oh, and George Brett. Yeah, I could do with the next George Brett drafted by SF. Chances are they’d draft hm and then trade him after single A. BUT, the draft pick comes with a monetary kicker that is important — more later.
Anyway, in last night’s embarrassment the SF pitchers threw something like 230 pitches. That is the most pitches thrown in a 9-inning SF Giants game in over 35 years, i.e., as far back as Baseball Reference has records on this stat…
snarkk that was me that said that and I either read it from the athletic or sports illustrated I can’t remember but it definitely said was he was not a top 30 prospect. Anyway it’s the internet and a lot of mis informaion floating around.
Evans has been pretty injury free most of his career. But we are the injury collectors.
I’ll stay with some 49er chatter the thoughts with draft picks Carver Willis and Enrique Cruz the Niners don’t believe Willis is a tackle consideration and will kick him inside to LG and possibly to Center to replace Brendel after next season.
Cruz is definitely a Tackle atleast a Swing Tackle backup for Williams,Lowe, Colby? and others..I like Cruz developing prospect to be Williams replacement after 2 hopefully healthy years for Williams…
In the FWIW category, the Bailey draft pick comes with a possible twist — Giants are maybe trying to replicate another UCLA shortstop success story:
https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/san-francisco-giants/giants-rumors-the-grand-plan-trading-patrick-bailey-guardians
If this happens, it would be outstanding.
Roupp still effective despite last night’s poor outing. Pirates were very patient, resulting in him throwing almost 100 pitches in 4 innings, with 3 walks. Nevertheless, he KOed 8.
Per KNBR, Schmitt playing 1b today, Eldridge not in LU despite a jack last night and another long well hit out. Huh?
Adames at SS again, despite .197 BA and 6, that’s 6 RBIs. 6 at almost 1/4 season gone. Why not Schmitt at SS and Eldridge at 1b, where he’s been working at in Sac? If you bring Eldridge up, play his ass !!

Don’t understand why Eldridge sits either. Bomb yesterday was about only good thing that happened entire game.
Even Korea is writing about the Giants . . . https://www.starnewskorea.com/en/sports/2026/05/11/2026051102252538066
Lee is way overpaid for his production. No steals, pretty much a Phttt to the offense and his D is replaceable at a lower price. Thanks FARHAN.
I would not cry if they trade him, probably much easier to trade than the Bore 3, who are the real problem…
Nor will I miss him. Excited initially when the Giants signed him, probably because it seemed like everyone (particularly the Bums) was signing players out of SE Asia, except us.
However, for what we are paying him – he’s a mediocre to fair fielder; streaky hitter, with long stretches of “00fers”; and, he doesn’t steal bases.
Snarkk and Willie, I suspect the Giants are just being careful with his psyche. While the home run in Saturday’s 13-3 loss was a great milestone, the team is likely looking at his overall “hit or miss” start. Since his call-up on May 4, he has struggled with consistency, going 2 for 13, with 4 KOs. The Giants seem to be protecting their top prospect by not over-exposing him during a rough stretch for the team. He has now sat for two out of the three games in this Pirates series, suggesting they prefer a “platoon” or “rest-and-reset” approach rather than letting him struggle through high-strikeout games.
Also, dollars to donuts – I bet they don’t want to offend Devers, Adames, and/or Chapman right now . . . and on that note, a bomb by Griffin. lol
sheesh, 6 batters = 3 pop outs. At least Devers & Lee made the pitcher throw a few, The rest … pfffttt!
ooops, my bad … it’s my programming, I figuresd Adames for an automatic out!
No doubter BOOM by Ramos.
If I were pitching coach for an oppo team, I would order the entire pitching staff to Never throw a strike to Adames. Don’t even think of it. The guy will swing at any kind of slop you throw up there. I imagine Buster has massive regrets on that contract.
Adames is essentially a poster child for the “Three True Outcomes” era of baseball (Home Runs, Strikeouts, and Walks). He uppercuts ALL pitches. Adames typically maintains a high launch angle, often hovering around 18-20 degrees. Snarrk, for context, the league average is usually closer to 12 degrees.
He’s everything I hate about today’s game.
I would love it if he walked at least once every three games. I think the Giants have yet to take a walk today against a pitcher who, against the rest of MLB, averages SEVEN walks every 9 innings.
Are SF hitters not aware of how impatient they are AB or do they know, and either ignore the hitting coach or he doesn’t tell them to grind more at the plate?…
Flemm basically ripping Hector Borg again for stopping Lee at second
Game getting away from Giants. With Adames and Devers (30% and 31% SO rates), along with the rest of our mediocre LU, this is just about in the bag for the Pirates.
Gmen heard my boos. lqtm.
Mine too Blade! WTF? Productive outs, hits with RISP? WT the-flying F is going on?
