D A Y – T W O – D R A F T

Well, we traded down twice out of the 1st round, swapped a 4th for a 3rd and gained a 6th round pick. But there are still a lot of good players available.

My son thinks we are going with Boston. I think we go with Howell. Could still go O line with Chase Bisontis. Safety with Emmanuel McNeil-Warren or Treden Stukes. Reading the Chron this morning they referenced the Niners 1986 draft.

No 1st round pick but they nailed it. Wow. A few small-school guys thrown in the mix.

Round 2, Pick 39: Larry Roberts, DE (Alabama)
Round 3, Pick 56: Tom Rathman, FB (Nebraska)
Round 3, Pick 64: Tim McKyer, DB (Texas-Arlington)
Round 3, Pick 76: John Taylor, WR (Delaware State)
Round 4, Pick 96: Charles Haley, DE (James Madison)
Round 4, Pick 101: Steve Wallace, OT (Auburn)
Round 4, Pick 102: Kevin Fagan, DE (Miami)
Round 5, Pick 131: Pat Miller, LB (Florida)
Round 6, Pick 162: Don Griffin, DB (Middle Tennessee State)

No wonder they called Walsh a genius. This is one of the best drafts in NFL history.

    Hi All.

    Sportsdude from the Flap…

Lynch / Shanahan picked a player who according to the Athletic..

Shanahan isn’t afraid to against conventional thinking to draft WR’s

“The Ole Miss receiver checks a lot of boxes for Shanahan. He stood out in college for his blocking, which suggests a certain toughness that Shanahan covets more than any other trait in his recievers”

Just me but maybe we should draft receivers who can get open and catch the ball???

  2. bakkentom's avatar bakkentom says:

why didn’t Lynch use that 5th to grab OG Pregnon. Why the reluctance to trade up to get plug and play from week 1 at LG a perfect Shanahan blocker, passpro with the size, athleticism and zbs/gap blocker demonstrated performance.

Lynch did that last year having to settle for Upton Stout and letting Raiders grab two OT directly in front of us.

    he is killing this team.

I’m good with who we drafted. I just feel that we could’ve got the WR and RB with a later slot. They signed two players in FA who have experience playing LG. We also have Conner Colby, the human direct route to the QB. I really don’t know what to think other than root for the players we do have.

    • Winder's avatar Winder says:

I feel the same way Berger. Except for last year when we took 3 dline guys with our first picks we then went and got a bunch of no-names who we will find out this year how good or bad that draft was. This year is business as usual and I expect day 3 to be the same. Day 3 is always my favorite day since the players we get are real happy to be here.

They had their choices of Safety EMW,2 OG ‘BTW would of started at LG Pregnon&Dunker but hey Shanny as usual gets his RB Kaelon Black ( why cause he won a championship with Mendoza?)oh btw was never among the 200 plus players to receive a combine invite, his hands measure 8 7/8 and arms at 29 7/8 that screams fumbler and no pass catcher..

  5. Berger's avatar Berger says:

Height reminds me of Bryce Huff. He’ll be a designated pass rusher and should be able to play on day one. I’m a little surprised he was on the board at 70.

    • Winder's avatar Winder says:

I don’t think he’s strong enough to out muscle olineman but if we use him as an olb he might find the space he needs It’s an interesting situation. That’s why he has to get stronger.

  6. Winder's avatar Winder says:

We are not talking collage olinemen anymore we are talking grass fed monsters. but he’s got a lot of time with ota’s and preseason. I am going to keep a close eye on him

Day 3 is underway, let’s see if they start picking best player available because their last pick of a 3rd round RB was not.

  8. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

So they took another DT, Halton from Oklahoma.

Talk about flashbacks, last Giants game I went to courtesy SanDog (and met his crew) was last time Marlins were at the O and they crushed Giants 12-5. They hit two long bombs off Birdsong who gave up 8, and then got 4 more off long gone Hjelle. James was there that day and commented in thread that Agustin Ramirez homerun to deep Lf was one of longest bombs he’d seen to that part of yard.

Last night they just teed off on Houser, lot of loud contact. 16 hits total.

I am kicking back with a cup of coffee waiting for pick 127, currently at 120. Good thing I have coffee

  11. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

    Here we go

  12. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Well they keep beefing up the trenches with the addition of DT Gracen Holton 6’2 292lb fast, high motor attacking playerfrom Oklahoma Team Captain, they really have a lot of rotational players .Both West&Collins are run stoppers and now Osa &Halton the pass pressure rushers. I’m ok with the pick, he was rated much higher by many experts

Happy birthday, Unca Chuck. Medicare’s a real chick magnet…

  15. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Sound the Alarms the 49ers draft an OT but of course to short of arms ,probably kick him to guard (LG Works) Carver Willis( What you say Willis) 6’5 315 lbs

    • bakkentom's avatar bakkentom says:

he is 305 with short arms, unless he can put on 10 lbs of muscle he maybe will be center only

this draft is very bad. For LG am really hoping FA Jones has his neck fully healed and Connor Colby is fully healthy. Both is also a 300 lbs and tall. Purdy could be in a body bag first SEA game.

  16. Winder's avatar Winder says:

If nothing else we draft some guys with interesting names. Ephesians Prysock CB

  17. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

2 picks left in the 5th round. They did a lot of trading this year and went from 6 picks to 8, a decent strategy particularly since they have been far more successful in the later rounds.

  18. djloo27's avatar djloo27 says:

And a new Grave Dugger in town…

  19. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Well they got a replacement player for Dee Winters LB Jaden )Grave Digger)Dugger 6’5 250 lbs from Louisville 1st team All-Sun Belt )126 tackles most in Sun Belt)working with Warner,Dre and the LB could be a special pick?

Super Bowl Win, Purdy Please
