Hmmm. Liked the guys we got on Friday.

We waited till UDFA time for the RB and O line help. Three O linemen, a couple DBs, 3 RBs, and the rest. Here on Gilligan’s Island.
The good news is Mel Kiper gets to detach his head and go back underground for another 51 weeks. He gave the Niners the worst draft report card. Which of course means we nailed it. Since our braintrust seems to thrive on the lower rounds, let’s hope they keep it up. No one knows how these go. 2017 was rated a top draft, and just by looking at it in the moment, sure. Funny thing is, George Kittle was the star of that draft. In the 5 hole. DT DJ Jones was drafted in the 6th round. The rest are either out of football or 3rd stringers. Witherspoon is decent enough at times, Solly Thomas bounced around to the Jets, Reuben Foster is in the USFL, BeatHard is a backup for the Jags, and Joe Williams never made an NFL roster.
Ouch. So, fuck Mel Kiper’s head. Still time to pick up some FA O line help.
Looks like we will have a full compliment of picks next year minus a 5th rounder. Should get a couple of comp picks also. It looked to me that all our picks have speed and durability(toughness) with a little bit of mean streak. Looking forward to training camp.
Saw greasy slimy Mel Kiper on NFL network today, Jesus he was sweating worst then Albert Brooks in Broadcast News.Yeah anything he says take the opposite approach..
I like the picks, especially the first pick, LuterJr a true ballhawk, Winters is a beast of a hitter and should get playing time next to Warner &Greeaw with his speed as well.Beal Jr good added depth and being a Georgia Bulldog doesn’t hurt with that program.
Overall, and for where we picked, I liked what we did. I’m glad we were serious about the placekicker position this offseason. The two picks I really like are Brown, who looks like a starter by year 2, and Beale.
Beale gets off the LOS as quick as you’ll find. His highlight reel shows him bull rushing at 250 lbs. He disengages very well and ran a 4.58 40. To me, he looks like a deluxe Ebukam. He probably dropped because he was a situational pass rusher at Georgia. I think at any other school he is a star.
A DE who runs 4.58 and drafted mid round, probably makes him a crusher on special teams for his rookie year.
Now I read he ran a 4.49 40. Wow!
I wonder how much rope Kinlaw gets. One more setback and he’s got to go.
But all in all, I really like Brown, Moody and Latu. The little bit of film of Beal that I saw was very impressive. His first step was quick as fuck. He can present a lot of challenges.
Really curious that they didn’t give any linemen a look. Cut day signings? I am not sold on McKivitz at all.
Crazy. Pouring rain here today here in the Creek.
I think Kinlaw is walking a real fine line but this year he basically costs them nothing. If he plays good this year his trade value will be up but if he plays good and plays every game we will probably pick up the 5th year option
They already declined his 5th year option.
I thought that was just temporary and still had time to pick it up later in the year.
Yeah, just looked it up and the only recourse is to either offer a new contract or release.
All the DL help they got, I don’t see a long future with Kinlaw.
In all fairness, Kinlaw has had so0me bad luck with injuries. He has always been a wrecker when healthy, with the exception of the last 2 games last year. Question is can he stay healthy all year? Even if he does, that would be one in four. If he stays healthy and doesn’t try to break the bank he should be back.
Shades of Crystal Todd Shell. Not really bad luck for Kinlaw. It’s the same knee he’s had issues with since his South Carolina days.
