Not much to see so far in spring training given the fact that little is televised, and we aren’t the Yanks, Boston, or El Lay, but we are something like 3-7 and have lost 5 in a row or some shit. Normally I don’t pay attention to spring much, but hey, here we are.
My glancing at the Giants stories so far seem to be of the variety that the starters are doing fine but the relievers are crashing and burning late. So I decided to take a look. Our nominal starters are doing the following:
Logan Webb – 2 starts, 5 IP, 4 hits, 2 runs – 3.60 era – 3 k’s, 2 walks
Sean Manaea – 2 starts, 4.2 IP, 7 hits, 4 runs – 7.71 era – 6 k’s, 0 walks
Alex Cobb – 2 starts, 7 IP, 8 hits, 4 runs – 9.00 era – 8 k’s, 2 walks
DeScaffolding – 1 start, 2 IP, 1 hit, 0 runs – 0.00 era – 3 k’s, 0 walks
Alex Wood – 1 start, 2 IP, 0 hits, 0 runs – 0.00 era – 5 k’s, 0 walks
_______
Tristan Beck – 2 starts, 7 IP, 8 hits, 4 runs, 5.14 era – 7 k’s, 2 walks
K Harrison – 1 starts, 2.2 IP, 8 hits, 7 runs, 23.63 era – 3 k’s, 2 walks
Jakob Junis – 1 start, 4 IP, 3 hits, 1 run, 2.25 era – 4 k’s, 0 walks
Ross Stripling – 0 starts, 5 IP, 8 hits, 4 runs – 7.20 era – 3 k’s, 0 walks
Yeah, it’s early, but nothing super-alarming, other than Harrison’s flail in a couple games. But he’s young and a bit overwhelmed I’m sure. There are other random starters on the board but they won’t make the team and I’m tired of typing.
Encouraging is the number of k’s to walks. 42 k’s to 8 walks is nice for these guys.
The damage in these games appear to be from Drew Stotman and Thomas Szapucki
DS – 0.2 IP, 7 hits, 13 runs (!), 175.50 era
TS – 0.1 IP, 2 hits, 3 runs, 81.00 era
Lol, ya just gotta laugh at that. I guess their slider wasn’t working.
Yeah, that heavy slider wasn’t so heavy!

Hey, hey, hey, the game is on MLB and so far, we are winning.
3 shutout innings for DeSclafani. K’d Golds twice with runners on.
9PM ET start and 11:30 end, hmm, maybe this pitch clock thing isn’t all that bad.
Good news for the east coast contingent.
I’m tellin ya, I won’t miss Pablo drawing pictures in the dirt or Nomar adjusting everything on his body between every pitch. If Bob Gibson was pitching today, they’d all be getting drilled in the ribs.
When I’m at a game I don’t mind the pace, I chat with the friends I’m with and/or my seat neighbors and just soak in the atmosphere. But watching on TV and being on the east coast, I’m with ya.
Villar with HR to RCF off Kendall Graverman on mlb.com story of game.
Supposedly he has power that way more so than dead pull to LF, which is a bit of a hmmn given dimensions and height of wall in that part of the yard as opposed to easier reached seats in LF. 5-1 W with rbis from Wilmet Matos and 2 from Pederson.
Good stuff including live Kuiper and Javy on site, talking to Mgr. Mark DeRosa.
Looks like Rodon will start the season on IL. Maybe dodged a bullit.
Maybe? No. Definitely.
Draft pick? NFL

Of course this is the NY Post so, the hyperbole is strong, but 7 to 10 day hold, then re-evaluate. . . .

Yeah, I don’t trust anything that comes from a Murdock company.
Kinda of a nice ST story for the Giants, with hopefully a crack at breaking camp..Ronald Guzman who hit 16 HR’s for the Rangers 5 years ago, is now a left handed reliever throwing 98 MPH and struck out the side against Brewers today!
Ohtani lite? Are we using him as a hitter? It would be cool if we at least gave him a shot at it.
New thread is up…
Yeah baby the 49ers sign Eagles F/A DT Javon Hargrave to a 4/84M contract ( 40M guaranteed at signing) you can line him up anywhere on the line, this DL is going to be on fire 🔥 next year!!
