Sweepy on Seattle

Bit of a nail-biter for a while. This first half anyway, but the Big Cock Brock led 49ers cruised past the crazed gum-chewing of Pete Carroll and the resurgent-for-a-half Seahawks. Brock Purdy came out a little wobbly, but led a quick FG drive, and a subsequent TD drive on a 68 yard run by CMC after the defense forced two quick 3-and-outs.

Then things got dicey. Seattle started running pretty well, and hit a ton of quick passes to score two TDs around another 49er FG. The 49ers seemingly took the lead into the half 16-14, but a questionable squib kick led to great field position for Seattle, and a monumentally stupid roughing the passer put them into FG range and they capitalized for a 17-16 lead.

Seemed important at the time, but the 49ers stormed out of the locker room and scored 25 unanswered points to salt the game away. The play of the game came after the 49ers retook the lead on the score to open the 3rd quarter. Seattle was driving deep into 49er territory down to our 13, and Charles Omenihu got pressure and knocked the ball from Geno Smith’s grasp and it was recovered by Nick Bosa. The Niners took that mistake and drove the length of the field and scored again to make the score 30-17 instead what could have been a 1 point deficit.

The rest was gravy as Deebo took a shallow cross 74 yards for the 38-13 lead to put the game away. Huge assist from Brandon Aiyuk for blocking 20 yards downfield.

All in all, a solid game that was tighter than it needed to be, but in the end the 49ers made a ton more plays and won going away. Brock Purdy looked skittish at times, and missed some reads, and maybe threw 2 really bad balls, but in the end he accounted for 332 yards in the air on 18-30 and 3 TDs, with a rushing TD to boot.

The defense was ragged at times as well, as the usual world-beater DK Metcalf had 10 for 136 and 2 TDs, and Mooney Ward struggled a bit with 2 stumbles that led to 80 yards in catches and a TD. He also missed a tackle on a 3rd and short that netted a 1st down. Pressure was inconsistent, but Omenihu made the play of the game, Demo Lenoir hade a nice pick late as the defense tightened up in the 2nd half and gave up a late garbage TD.

The Niners had a whopping 505 yards to Seattle’s 332. The D got 3 sacks and a pick to the offensive giving up 1 sack with 0 turnovers. So, Purdy gets his first playoff win, and the Niners win their 11th in a row. So far, so good.

So much for TreyArea it’s all about Brockmania now! Still have to pinch myself on occasion after they were sitting at 3-4 and reeling off 11straight wins!
For any Kyle Shanahan doubters “Forget It” he clearly is way ahead of most coaches in his offensive play calling preparation from game to game! He should win the NFC Coach of the Year by just going thru 3QB’s and still winning speaks volumes, but it usually goes to a coach that just crawls into the playoffs by default,Whatever I’m just glad Kyle is are coach!Nothin finer than a Niner!! ❤️💛❤️💛🏈🏈💪💪

    • Winder says:

Yeah kat I am one of those that were critical about Shanny’s play calling but it looks more like we just didn’t have the right pieces to make it work. Both CMC and Purdy have made Shanny’s game plans work. And with the rest of our weapons on O and we look way better than we have since Young decided to hang em up. Purdy is bound to have some off games I just hope it’s not during these playoffs. Montana had some bad games too.

  2. willedav says:

Yeah Seattle running game in first half and Ward getting toasted was not good, but takeaways off Geno and inability of Seattle to slow down Niners O once they got rolling was fun to watch. Next.

  3. willedav says:

Ha, Kat didn’t see any of late game but Lawrence got it done in the end as Chargers suffered another epic meltdown. And yeah be thankful SF has the right Bosa, among so many other good things, Coach included.

Different players, different coaches, different cities, same old Folding Bolts. They have about 6-7 epic playoff meltdowns.

And it was all because Joey Bosa lined up offsides on a 2rd and 10 that negated a sack. Bosa then had two 15 yard penalties called on him.

  4. unca_chuck says:

Wow. Miami has dropped 3 passes for about 120 yards. In the 1st quarter.

  5. Winder says:

Yesterday’s game was payback in spades. We did to Seattle exactly what they used to do to us. 2nd half spectacular QB play with running around out of the pocket and making dagger throws that definitely cut to the bone. Purdy did exactly what Wilson did to us. That game is up there in feel good Niner wins.

  6. Irish Kevin says:

What I have read about Purdy, only 6’1 and not a very strong arm. Well the kid arm strength is no longer a question. Purdy can definitely pass the ball down the field. Not just 5 yard passes. And yeah like some of you I questioned Kyles play calling over the last 2-3 years. But with the right QB his play calling is off the charts. GO NINERS

All you need is that the last player in the draft I guess for Kyle to work his true magic..🤷‍♂️
Didn’t work with Beater&Little Dick Mullens, but now he has his real Big Cock Brock, and what a lightning rod he has become!

Seahawks defensive player Quentin Jefferson said we had are chances and feeling good at the half, but then just pissed down are legs in the 2nd half,as 49ers came out firing on all cylinders led by what he said Shanahan’s unbelievable play calling. He’s a Wizard with all his options he can use and formation matchups he creates..

  7. unca_chuck says:

    Miami takes the lead!!

  8. unca_chuck says:

It is readily apparent that Shanahan has much more confidence in Purdy than he does in Jimmy G.

Miami is dropping shit all over the place. 4 deep passes dropped for about 180 yards,

  9. snarkk says:

Purdy sees the field, reacts quickly to his reads, hits receivers in stride and not with high balls so their yards after catch is enabled, and is elusive and quick enough to extend plays and find receivers. JimmyG appears to have a better 5-o’clock shadow, however…

  10. unca_chuck says:

Miami outplayed Buffalo but gagged away their shot to win.

  11. willedav says:

Touchdown Giants 24;14. If they win then Niners would host whoever wins tomorrow next Sunday. Dallas or Tampa, right?

    • Winder says:

I believe so. I would like to see Dallas come to town. We already faced one of our nemesis might as well face another one.

  12. unca_chuck says:

Fucking refs trying to help the Vikings. Terrible roughing call there.

  13. unca_chuck says:

Yeah, we play the winner of the Dallas TB game.

  14. unca_chuck says:

Buncha crazy fucking crazy games today that;s for sure.

  15. unca_chuck says:

Balt about to take the lead and they fumble on the 1 for a 99 yard fumble return for a TD. Holy shit!

  16. Winder says:

It would be a little crazy if we make it and end up playing Cincy. You know the whole town would want to take revenge on us. I know the 80’s were a long time ago but some things you just don’t forget. And we would be underdogs.

  17. unca_chuck says:

After tonight’s performance, I’m more worried about KC than either Buffalo or Cincy,

Hey, since I got Black label Society in here, howz about a little Helmet? Always thought this band was such a trip because they are your basic groove metal band, but instead of tattoos, long hair, and beards, they look like the high school glee club.

    Play on.

    • Winder says:

I am always worried about KC but we may just have a chance this time if we can get there. The Giants are playing some good ball and they know philly, that one could be an upset. I know I am getting way ahead of myself but it would be real nice to have home field the rest of the way.

      • unca_chuck says:

Yep. I really thought the Vikings were gonna go one and done, and I have a feeling Philly could as well.

And Dallas right now is a hot mess, so THEY could crater as well.

But the Chargers outplayed Buffalo today and they are lucky to advance. If not for the drops and stupid penalties, Miami wins that game.
