Slipping Away?

Not sure what the hold up is with Jimmy G. At this point we are losing people and not getting better. We are getting weaker with the signing of Laken Tonlinson bu the New York Jets, and DJ Jones signing with the Denver Broncos.

I thought both of these guys would be fairly big priorities as Tomlinson had a solid year among a pretty inconsistent line, and DJ Jones was a stud as an interior lineman. But here we are hanging on to Jimmy and hemorrhaging players. They have re-signed these guys. Nothing earth-shaking. Givens did have the play of the Green bay game though

And we are apparently looking to hit the FA CB market and may try to get Stephon Gilmore.

As cool as that is, all this goes nowhere with Jimmy G’s $25.5 mill still tied up. The offers must be shitty because he should be gone by now. I just don’t get Wentz going before Jimmy, but fuck, I don’t know. I guess we are waiting for DeShaun Watson to make his decision?

Funny thing is Watson rejected a trade to the Seahawks. For obvious reasons. He’s looking at the Saints or the Steelers. The AFC East and the NFC South are much weaker, at least defensively, than the NFC West.

Get it done!!!

20 seconds after I posed this, we signed Charvarius Ward, CB from KC to a 3 year deal. $42 mill.

Solid corner who will definitely help our secondary.

    • Winder says:

Nice pickup but i hated losing both Laken and DJ. They were good 49ers. Money is the name of the game.

  2. Flavor says:

it’s gotta be the shoulder, right? Teams just want to make sure he’s sound before the offer a pick

  3. unca_chuck says:

Down to 2 QBs and 2 teams. Saints and Colts, Watson and Jimmy.

Fucking Trubiscuit goes before Jimmy? That’s fucked up. Shoulder or no.

    • NJ49ER says:

Thinking Colts are low balling Lynch.
Until Deshaun makes a deal Jimmy remains in limbo.
Jimmy and Don Yee could be playing with the process too?
But hey? Jimmy’s got a Subway commercial like Tommy now.
He’s got some marketing ability going for him.
Watch for Cleveland or Raiders to throw in a QB wrinkle.

      • NJ49ER says:

Deshaun is a GA kid. Reports are he reached out to ATL.
Seems he wants to be in the SEast?
        See how it goes…

  4. unca_chuck says:

Indy is waiting for the price to drop to the floor apparently. Fuck this.

If Fucking Wentz gets a 2 and two 3s, we should get a 2 and a 4. Trubiscuit $7 mill per year? Utter garbage.

We simply gonna cut him after the 16th? or trade him to the Houstons for a bag of balls and a gallon of Gatorade?

  5. NJ49ER says:

I’d like to see some Cap magic from Paraag today, to keep Jimmy under house arrest and, to prevent him from forcing his way out if this was his objective.
Seeing some reports that Lynch turned down an offer that was said to involve a 2nd RD pick.
Hard to know who’s yanking who’s chain at this point.

    • Winder says:

NJ- I think what’s hurting his chances are most is he’s running a run first offense and most of the league is going the other way. That and he throws way to many Int’s and they usually happen at some of the worse times. I am kind of thinking he stays for another year and do what every other team is doing converting big bucks into a signing bonus.

    • unca_chuck says:

Trubiscuit got signed before Jimmy. He sucks. Now it’s Hou and Atl trading QBs? Or Matt going to Indy? The rumor I heard is they want 2 2nd round picks. Ludicrous if they are balking over a 2 and less.

      • NJ49ER says:

The angle I’ve hung onto is the connections to the Pats as a last resort.
Indy is a very similarly constructed team as well. Run/Defense.

Given the Deshaun factors, Jimmy is simply going to get whatever is left.
Baker and Carr could certainly be more appealing to Carolina or Atlanta, even NOLA as 1st preferences.
Hence, the fall-back to the Pats being Houston and Vegas.
What we need is Indy to get cold feet and fold, if the rumors of low-balling are true.

More concerning for me, is the suggestion that Yee and Jimmy sprung the shoulder surgery as a means to screw Lynch & Co.
If so, turnabout is fair play. Put him under house arrest until someone becomes desparate and coughs up the goods.
Jimmy loses his leverage when the new league year starts (I believe) regarding veto power on trade destinations.

If Lynch doesn’t recoup sufficient Draft value now, he’s better off to play spoiler to Jimmys’ plans in return.
Then he has to deal with blowback involved with his inability to get it done.

  6. NJ49ER says:

    Final analysis…
Houston will have the best Picks to offer, once they get Deshaun’s deal completed.
    Caserio connection:-D

    • NJ49ER says:

What better way to put the heat on GM Ballard in Indy than to get Caserio into the game for Deshaun’s replacement?
And in this scenario, Lynch would likely get better Picks from Houston anyway. 😀
Don’t need to have it completed today either.
Just be Cap compliant and keep Jimmy under house arrest until Deshaun makes his move.

      • Winder says:

You could be right. I just don’t see any reason Jimmy might want to screw SF I don’t think it would be in his best interest. But wdik.

      • NJ49ER says:

        Restructures of Kittle/Armstead done
Jimmy’s options are pretty much gone Winder.
        I call it house arrest.
        Leverage Lynch 😀

  7. NJ49ER says:

The NFL is full of handshake deals and, the reality is, today is an accounting audit.
    Get compliant. Pass GO.

Deals under construction will continue with thise handshake agreements.

I’m going to put some thought into whether Kittle/Armstead could be part of potential trade scenarios now?
We need money for Bosa and Deebo.

    • Winder says:

I don’t see any scenario where Kittle gets moved and I think we need to keep Armstead especially since we lost DJ. I just hope someone knows what they are doing in the FO. I gotta believe they do.

  8. unca_chuck says:

We ain’t losing DJ and AA. Kittle? He’s been on the shelf way too much. I think they can figure a way to get Deebo and Bosa onboard without losing kitttle but he needs a full year of production.

    • NJ49ER says:

It’s all about the money Gent’s.
      Swapping contract impact vs production.
      Armstead and Kittle are replaceable.
      Sad but true…

  9. NJ49ER says:

    Walsh wrote the book.
A year early beats a year late.
    Business is brutal.

  10. NJ49ER says:

I would exchange either with upgrades at positions of need.
    I’m about the trenches.
A blocking TE is easy to replace.
Kittle for a deep threat WR is a no brainer if you could land Davante Adams?
    Armstead for a CB/RT?

  11. Winder says:

Good news. Chandler Jones is now a Raider and out of our hair.

  12. alleykat69 says:

Bad news Baker Mayfield is basically done in Cleveland and he wants to become a Colt.
Is Jimmy G’s list shrinking even more for a Niner trade?

    • Winder says:

Maybe Cleveland will take Jimmy. But it sure doesn’t look like we are gonna get much of anything for him. At this point I would be happy with a 5th and 6th. We do pretty well there.

  13. alleykat69 says:

I expect Cleveland to be all in on landing Watson..
