Seattle Swan Song

The NFC West power structure just took a huge shift as the Seattle Seahawks traded Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos for a king’s ransom, and Drew Lock. Hard not to respect Russell and all he has done for Seattle, but he has been a pain in our ass for a loooooooong fucking time. Don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.. He is now a major headache for the rest of the AFC West. A strong division that just got even stronger.

They certainly ain’t gonna bank on Drew Lock. Or Geno Smith. Or Jacob Eason. They seemingly blew it by not trading Wilson last year if their goal was to get a young stud QB as this year’s class is light years away from last year’s QB class. I wonder if they somehow have a line on DeShaun Watson. He could roll right into their huddle and fit like a hand in a glove. Provided he gets out from under his myriad illegal use of hands penalties.

So, where does that leave us and our soon-to-be-ex-quarterback, Jimmy G? Not sure, but I had Denver as Jimmy’s top destination. That has now shifted to Pittsburgh. They have local hero Najee Harris and a strong defense. Worthlessburger has been pretty much a clone of Jimmy G lately anyway as he has lost his ability to throw deep, so he would fit right in to their ball-control offense.

New Orleans is in the running as well as Jameis Winston may or may not be ready, fricking Minnesota could move on from our once-upon-a-time-future QB of the past, Kirk Cousins (wouldn’t that be the definition of irony!), or the Raiders possibly moving on from Carr.

A-Rog signed a 4 year, $200 million deal to remain in Green Bay so he’s out of the dance. So. it’s clear as mud what happens next. Still and all I want something to happen quick. Still think a 2 and a 4 isn;t out of the realm of reality.

We might not hear anything about Jimmy until he shows his surgery was a success. It was supposed to be minor so maybe teams will move sooner. I hope so.

Let the rebuild continue in Seattle. Not surprising they are parting ways with Standout LB Bobby Wagner (32) which will save them 16 mil in cap space. He’s old school like Richard Sherman where he negotiates his own contact.Hey if he wanted to work out a team friendly deal with the Niners, I would be happy for added depth and extreme experience!

  3. NJ49ER says:

A Jimmy deal likely gets announced while they control his rights – Before the new league year starts next week.
Like Seattle, they’ll want him out of the NFC, if at all possible. Indy/Pitt/Miami/Houston?

I’m also going to go with these guys as my final Draft group for Centers –
I’ll guess they’ll all be around for us after the 2nd RD? WTF do I know?

    Cam Jurgens – 6-3 /290 (4.92) Nebraska
    Dylan Parham – 6-2.5 /311 (4.93) Memphis
    Zach Tom – 6-5 /295 (4.94) Wake Forest
    Cole Strange – 6-6 /301 (5.03) Chattanooga
    Dawson Deaton – 6-5.5 /306 (5.12) Texas Tech

This Draft class is deep (and Cheap) in areas we need to consider. OL/DB/DL
Good opportunity to recoup money from Ward and Tartt, maybe a chance to deal Arik as well.

If they whiff on the Jimmy plan, I’d figure restructure targets come into play, as well as potential trade options to move Contracts off the Cap.

  5. unca_chuck says:

Hmmmmm. Carson Wentz to the Washington Generals. Indy looking for an (*cough cough*) upgrade?

We will see. Something should happen soon..

    • NJ49ER says:

      Jimmy’s got an opening now.
Wentz’s deal is encouraging in terms of value.
AFC & NFC DMZ of sorts.
I still think the objective is to put Jimmy into the AFC for the best return possible.

  6. Irish Kevin says:

As much as Seattle was a pain in the Niners ass, they only won 1 SB. Pete the Cheat is 70 yrs old not sure he has the time for another rebuild. And Seattle was not going to pay A Rodgers money to keep Wilson. Wilson was not injury prone so he could last a few more years if Denver’s O line can protect him.

  7. unca_chuck says:

Elway can’t draft QBs for shit so he’s going the Peyton Manning ‘hope-to-get-a-couple-good-years-out-of-Wilson’ deal.

Here’s the list of starters in the Elway era in Denver. Ouch.

    Kyle Orton
    Tim Tebow
    Peyton Manning
    Brock Osweiler
    Trevor Siemian
    Paxton Lynch
    Case Keenum
    Joe Flacco
    Brandon Allen
    Drew Lock
    Jeff Driskel
    Brett Rypien

    Kendall Hinton

    Teddy Bridgewater

They got a good one in Wilson, there is no doubt about that. I bet Denver challenges this year. They have good young WR’s and when healthy some good RB’s too. I bet the Raiders and KC are not happy about it. SD can compete with em all too. I don’t usually get to interested in other divisions but I might pay a little more attention this year.

  8. NJ49ER says:

Indy moves up to Pick 42 and gets 73 for Wentz in addition to their own at 82.
Good opportunity for Lynch to juggle the Pick order if they pursue Jimmy.
    We’re holding 61 & 93 in this scenario.
I could see a future conditional Pick involved also.

Kinda want to see if Deshaun gets moved too –
Houston is holding more desirable Picks than Indy.

  10. Winder says:

I wonder how Wilson feels about the Mack trade to the chargers. They will now have Mack and Bosa on each side. Love it.

  11. Unca Chuck says:

Tha chargers are such a weird team. They are in every game
But still manage to fuck us hard. Their
Coach better be figuring out how to run football games. He’s worse than Shanny at finishing.

  12. Winder says:

They are predicting that Watson goes to Seattle. What a fuck show that will be.

  13. 12th Man says:

    Im still thinking a 2 and a 4 for Jimmy G.

  14. NJ49ER says:

Finished my work on Return specialists if they go to the Draft for it –

    Velus Jones WR 6-0 200 4.31 Tennessee (P/KR)
    Calvin Austin III WR 5-8 170 4.32 Memphis (P/KR)

    Britain Covey WR 5-8 170 Utah (P/KR)

  15. Winder says:

    Fuck. We lost Tomlinson.

  16. Winder says:

We lost DJ Jones also. Fuck me.
