Let’s Make (Rework) A Deal!

I’m no Monty Hall, but in the interest of trying to add to the team instead of hemorrhaging players, George Kittle and Arik Armstead reworked their contracts to open up close to $19 million in cap space. Putting us $14 million under the cap. We have a new CB which is nice, but there are a lot of guys on the bubble and we need an edge rusher to boot. We also need to deal with Deebo and Bosa.

On the good news side, Russell Wilson and Chandler Jones have left the NFC West and are both now in the AFC West. Ta ta. Well, except for the fact that the NFC West plays the AFC West this season. Fuck. Oh well.

Raheem Mostert moving on just signed a 1year 3.125 million deal with the Dolphins to reunite with HC Mike McDaniel..Time for Trey Sermon to step up his game behind Elijah Mitchell..,

  2. Winder says:

We just lost Compton to Denver. WTF is going on.

  3. unca_chuck says:

We have like 40 players that are free agents now. Bound to lose a bunch. Mostert? We have Mitchell now. And Hasty Sermon and Wilson. Compton? Meh. More worried about Tomlinson

  4. alleykat69 says:

Time for Banks&Moore to step up bigtime!
Banks at LG his natural position, Moore RG and draft a CENTER!!

  5. Winder says:

I can understand most of the moves. Mostert is a Fla. guy. But we are losing players from our bread and butter, both our lines. I guess we just don’t have the money. I know that feeling.

    • NJ49ER says:

      Roster rinse cycle Winder.
Budget balancing is a good sign that Lynch and Paraag have some serious goals in mind.
Unlike JAX, spending like drunken sailors makes headlines but, what comes if injury bugs bite?
I ragged on Paraag plenty during the Baalke era but it’s pretty apparent now that he’s a disciplined business guy.
Most likely a cause for the friction in the relationship from the looks of things.

I’m thinking the ridiculously high deal given to Kirk is/was a poison pill aimed at SF to damage Deebo’s extension.

  6. unca_chuck says:

I don’t see how the Kirk deal is pointed at us. There are plenty of prime WRs out there looking for deals. And Adams’ franchise tag number just went up a lot. Like you said, Jax is spending money like they are on a 3-day coke binge.

Deebo’s a guy to keep. If it costs us Kittle down the line, so be it. That being said, I hate how Shanny is using Deebo. The runs up the middle HAVE to stop. Get a speedy outside guy and throw in jet sweeps with the new guy. Stop treating Deebo like he’s indestructible. He’s not.

    • Winder says:

Agree Deebo’s pretty tough but we do have to limit his pounding. Last year he didn’t miss much of time but the years before he got nicked up pretty regular.

  7. alleykat69 says:

I find it interesting that the 49er restructured both AA and Kittle contracts right now.It makes me feel that they are in line to keep Jimmy G by doing that? 🤷‍♂️

  8. Winder says:

the fucking Rams just got Allen Robinson. UnnFuuukingBelievable. How in the fuck can they do that

  9. Winder says:

The stinkin Rams now have Woods, Kupp, and Robinson. Without a doubt the best WR core in the league and i think they still have the rights to Odell Beckham(sp).

  10. alleykat69 says:

I would go with The Bengals trio of WR’s Chase,Higgins &Boyd over the Rams imo..
But still it does piss me off how the Rams can continue to manipulate the salary cap?
Maybe saving money on Wentworth’s retirement,Von Miller moving on helped them out but still wtf?

  11. unca_chuck says:

You want ridiculously high? DaVante Adams signed a 5 year $142 million contract with the Raiders for 1st rd and other high picks. Sorry, Aaron!!!

Jesus. What is Deebo gonna want?

  12. alleykat69 says:

Yep Adams couldn’t get the Rodgers rate but the Raiders said we will do it.Love how Aaron just signed his huge contract and the Pack said,we will screw u again, knowing Adams wanted to be the highest paid WR and we’re not doing that.Rodgers had to of known this might happen right?

    • unca_chuck says:

I think A-Rod thought Adams would hang for the year with his big money franchise tag.

Oooops! No time like the present to cash in. I certainly get it. You get offered the entire Brinks truck, you sign the deal. No looking back in today’s NFL.

  13. alleykat69 says:

Adams was pissed the Pack put the franchise tag on him at the meager 20 mil rate.He wanted to be paid the highest contract by a WR that Arizona’s Deandre Hopkins has.He did that for sure on this contract that averages 28.5 mil a year.. So good for him.
Funny now he reunites with Derek Carr both teammates at Fresno St..

  14. Winder says:

The Raiders are really going for it. But you just know it will get derailed somehow.

  15. NJ49ER says:

Another quality addition to the roster is Ray Ray McCloud.
He’s a legit Return Man which we needed badly.
Nice to see Lynch & Co addressing the weak links.

  16. unca_chuck says:

    K. Street heading to Bourbon Street. Sherfeld and Cracraft to Miami.

  17. unca_chuck says:

Yeah, we desperately need some stability in the return game. And I don’t want Deebo doing that either.

  18. alleykat69 says:

Good signing of Ray Ray for the Niners as punt/KO was a definite weak link as you don’t want to use your best player Deebo for that on a play that’s the most injury prone. I can see Shanahan using McCloud as well in the slot are a jet sweep on occasions, just another weapon to use to keep players fresh..

  19. alleykat69 says:

Cleveland Browns sign Deshaun Watson to an insane 5/230 fully guaranteed contract and a 5th rd pick
That’s 46 million per season easily a NFL record!

Texans get 5 picks with a nice haul.. 3 first rd picks including the 13th pick in this year’s draft a 3rd round pick and a 4th rd pick.

  20. unca_chuck says:

Jesus. Insane money. New thread is up.
