Late getting around to this. Been busy travelling for work. Not much to report, other than Jimmy G seemingly waiting till the worst possible moment to announce he’s having shoulder surgery. People seem to be freaking out about it, saying we should simply cut him, but I don’t think this will affect his worth much. He is what he is. He’s a charismatic Alex Smith with a pinch of Brett Favre wildness to him.
He will be a stabilizing force for a team developing a young gun (NYJ), or simply a guy who can steer a strong defensive team to the playoffs (Pitts, Denver, Wash). I don’t even think the Jets are leaning that way, but it is possible given the Robert Saleh connection. Pretty sure he doesn’t want to be a backup, but it’ll be interesting to see where he goes and what he (and we) gets.
In other news, we are looking at Trey Lance’s receiving buddy Christian Watson. Big, fast, and tall, he may have played himself out of our reach. But we have a shit load of low picks, it would be worth our while to trade those for a shot at him. He had a solid Senior Bowl, and he is a bona fide deep threat with his size and speed. 6’4″ 205, 4.36 40 time.
Do it.
There are a lot of good WR’s this year and surely we will pickup at least one. I think the defense is once again priority for this years draft. I also think we need to pick up another QB and Taylor sounds like he would be the best and cheapest for our needs. Fucking long way to the draft, this year is panning out to be another long one.
But hey? We added Brian Griese today to replace Scangarello as QB coach.
Ironically, Griese was a UM QB with another guy named Tom Brady.
Can’t make this shit up…
Just added another Combine surprise to my list –
Former WR turned CB? Very curious now that he turned in a 4.26 and a 42″ Vert.
Tariq Woolen – UTSA 6’4″/205
Nebraska Center Cam Jurgens did not disappoint – He takes my top spot at C
6’3 / 290 4.92
This kid put up some great numbers in Indy too –
Had that on in the background all day. Can’t think of the 6’2, 205 corner that ran a 4.49. Long arms. Perfect body type for CB.
Some freakishly big and fast Safety options in this class.
They’re pretty valuable in the pass happy NFL.
Not going to miss Tartt if he moves on.
Gotta get younger and cheaper anyway. Speed won’t hurt either.
Too many guys didn’t work out too, got lots of missing numbers on my homework to fill in 😀
Waiting for the Pro days now.
Yeah, I think they just slide Hufuanga into Tartt’s spot. Still need a lot of DBs though. Safety and a couple corners.
Extremely deep class of DBs to sift through Chuck.
I’ve been going through lots of stats and watching drills in Indy.
I think LBs are going to be over shadowed by the Safety class simply for the flexibility to stop the passing game.
Some seriously freakish options to evaluate by the GMs around the league.
Hope we steal some gems.
Wow. Good news for the 49ers.. Bad news for the Raiders.. Russell Wilson was just traded to the Broncos. I guess jimmy is going to Pittsburgh.
Love it. Wilson has been a thorn in our side for far to long.
The Broncos gave up two first-round picks, two second-round picks, and one fifth-round pick, plus quarterback Drew Locke, tight end Noah Fant and defensive end Shelby Harris. Seattle gives up a 4th round pick. Lotta swag for Russell, but that makes the AFC West even tougher than it already was.
I know they gave up a shitload but fucking Wilson is a true game changer. I am so glad he’s gone.
You KNOW Pete Carroll is thinking, should I sign Jimmy?
I didn’t think of that but I bet he is.
No way Jimmy G is going to Seattle,Niners won’t trade him within the division. It will be one of 4 teams who puts up the best offer Pittsburgh,NewOrleans,Washington, and maybe Miami who he would be comfortable with now that McDaniel is the HC..
Hey I’m just STOKED that Russell Wilson moves after TORMENTING the Niners for over a decade!!
Ironically we play him and the rest of the talented AFC west next year but it’s only one time not 2 every year..
It wouldn’t surprise me if Carrol makes a deal with another team to take Jimmy and then trade him for some of those new picks. The reason I kind of doubt that is Jimmy really doesn’t throw the long ball and Seattle does. Metcalf would be pissed if Jimmy goes there.
I ain’t serious but I do think part of Carroll would just love to try it. Seattle’s line sucks so Jimmy would die, but kinda funny to think about.
I just want Jimmy to go somewhere soon.
