Well, for all intents and purposes, this season was a success. Believe it or not. The main goal of giving Trey Lance a red-shirt season worked, amid the fits and starts and injuries around Jimmy G and the whole team for that matter. The 49ers were a couple plays from the Super Bowl, which is what we were supposed to be. And we knocked Dallas and Green Bay out of the playoffs. No mean feat as they were both road wins. The Ram loss was a bitter pill to swallow, but as a team, we are young, talented, and hungry. I’ll put aside my animosity toward Kyle for the time being.
Jimmy said yesterday what the team wouldn’t, in that he has played his last down in a 49er uni. He hopes he is sent “to a team interested in winning.” Which I guess leaves out Houston. My landing spot was always gonna be Denver, as they are as desperate as any team, but they all off a sudden have major issues around the Brian Flores firing, and apparent sham head coaching interviews with Denver, Miami, and the New York Giants. All done to conform to the league and the Rooney Rule.
I’m thinking the upcoming Broncos sale is part and parcel with the impending fallout from this allegation of racist practices, so maybe Denver is out as a destination as horse-face and the entire Broncos organization is shit-canned in favor of a new ownership group and front office.
But that’s a different convo. Jimmy’s destinations still include New Orleans, Pittsburgh, Miami, the Giants, or possibly even the Jets, as they may want to get Zack Wilson out of harm’s way for a season while they try to build a better team around him before he gets killed out there.
My high-water mark would be a 2 and a 4. Given all the glowing reports from all Jimmy’s teammates, and the (relative) success the team had, you would think that he would get this in a trade. And it should happen pretty quickly. The teams looking for QBs are many, and the hope is that there is a bidding war for his services. Even if it is as a mentor for another highly drafted quarterback.

Hah! Snappy Khaki is back in the NFL as the new coach of the Minnesota Vikings. That should be good enough to get them into the playoffs seeing as how Harbs got something out of Young Sir Alex. He should be able to get Cousins there. But he will fall in the playoffs as he is wont to do.

The Florida Times-Union reports “the chatter” at the Senior Bowl is Bucs OC Byron Leftwich made it known he couldn’t work with Trent Baalke.
This is all conjecture that has been vaguely alluded to at this point, but here it is out in the open. All momentum was pointing towards the Jaguars hiring Leftwich in the middle of last week before he presented Adrian Wilson as a GM candidate and suggested he wouldn’t want to work with embattled current GM Baalke. The Jaguars are currently in a holding pattern as they try to find a head coach and GM who actually will want to work together, with the current heavy rumor being Rick Spielman, Doug Peterson, and Baalke employed but reporting to Spielman.

Yep. What is nuts is all these teams want to install, like we did, again, their head coach before getting a GM. In other words, making the HC spot more powerful than the GM position. Lynch certainly seems to be mainly a figurehead. The handshake guy who looks and sound great but isn’t really the guy making the decisions. This is all Shanahana’s team. I’m sure Lynch gets to provide input but Shanahan is the be-all end-all at decision time.
Gotta wonder how the Flores / Dolphins accusations might have impacted Harbaugh?
Stephen Ross is a major UM benefactor and was on record as not wanting to take Harbaugh from their program.
Now that Harbaugh made it known he’s willing to leave UM, could that open the Miami door and maybe keep McDaniel from leaving?

Flores will get a nice payout and the NFL might tighten the rules. I don’t think they can sweep this one under the carpet so easy. Mainly because every fucking one knows it true. I am not even a little shocked about the tanking, teams have been doing it in all sports forever.

Well, Baalke also got rid of Crabtree, VD, and Gore. Jed was supposed to keep the team together when Kappy signed that team-friendly deal. He didn’t. Our offensive game plan consisted of the WRs running to the nearest DB and stopping.

We have Lenoir and Thomas from this Draft class too. I’m leaning toward FA for a better CB than Norman at this point and still hoping Verrett has another year in the tank.

This whole setup is odd. Kyle seems to be the head coach, run the offense, and runs the front office as well. I was thinking Lynch might bail for the TV job as rumored. He seems to be just a figurehead.
Lynch is good to have around. All the players respect him and I would think he has a lot on his plate. I think he is running the draft but has a lot of input from Peters, Shanny, and probably most of the coaches. Is there a rumor he wants out?

Mostert was a fringe special teamer before his breakthrough with us. He’s worth a lot more to another team than us as we ain’t gonna pay him starter money when we have Mitchell. I think we let Mostert walk since Mitchell did such a good job and we have Wilson and Sermon.
Could be about Mostert. But Mitchell was getting hurt also and Sermon has been invisible. Wilson missed most of the year too. We need to find a RB that can hold up. I really don’t have a clue as to what our plan is I just hope we can keep the locker room at the same level as this year.
