Playoffs? By the Time We Get to Phoenix

So, due to the expanding playoffs this season, there are 7 teams in each conference now eligible for the playoffs. Which hardly matters as we ain’t in that echelon. We are currently in 10th place. Tied with Chicago and Minnesota by record, but behind them for other various reasons, and one game (really 2 games, as they beat us twice) behind the Arizona Cardinals. Surprising losers to the Patriots yesterday. The luster has worn off their shine a bit as both NE and the Niners gave Seattle an easier path to the division title and possibly that all-important bye week.

Here’s where we sit.

Playoffs
7. AZLast playoff spot
8. MinnWins tie break over San Francisco based on best win percentage in conference games. Division tie break was initially used to eliminate Chicago (Minnesota wins tie break over Chicago based on head-to-head win percentage).
9. BearsWins tie break over San Francisco based on best win percentage in conference games
10. SFWe need a lot of shit to break our way to get into the playoffs

So, getting past the Bears and Vikes may be doable, getting past the Cards is gonna be harder. Not that we should even go for this, but in the NFL, there’s no tanking. Not from Shanahan anyway. We could even catch the Rams as we have that tiebreaker and maybe we killed their will, and we are as close to LA as we are AZ.

And by the way we are playing our next two home games in Phoenix. A little shorter trip for Buffalo, but hey, it’s in the bag.

So far, Philly’ defense is bringing the heat. Seattle has blown 2 4th down conversions.

And I can’t get enough of the replay of Bo Jackson destroying the Seahawks and Brian Bosworth.

  2. unca_chuck says:

WTF? They give Jalen Hurts ONE play? Then bring in Wentz fior the sack?

    Brilliant.

  3. Irish Kevin says:

I guess since no fans in the stand it does not matter where you play, I would like to hear from a player about this

  4. unca_chuck says:

They heard before the Rams game that they weren’t gonna be allowed to play at home likely for the rest of the year.

Jim Mora’s rant still has to be at the top of my list alltime! What’s cool is he didn’t even go into a tyrant swearing rage of expletive words..
Playoffs? Playoffs? I just like to win a game!! Classic Stuff!!
And when he coached the Saints against the 49ers and lost as usual…Should of,Could of,just can’t beat the 49ers!!

  6. unca_chuck says:

    Forgot about that one, AK!

Thanks for finding that clip Chuck!
Yeah it was something else how Walsh, Montana,Rice,Lott and and just all the weapons on offense &defense just dominated a Saints team that wasn’t bad but just weren’t good enough to beat the 49ers!! Hence Mora’s funny rant Shoulda of,Woulda of, Coulda of, were just not good enough…

well looks like AZ is our home for now and probably for the rest of the season. i am looking forward to the AZ game on week 16. This should really be a fun one.

In the good news category, Brandon Aiyuk and DJ Jones are coming off the COVID list, Jordan Willis as well.

Kittle and Jimmy G. should be back for ‘the last few games’ according to Shanny.

Center Richie IRBerg is out for the rest of the year, as is Dee Ford. They’ll probably go the way of the Dodo. Adios.

43 games have been played since Westie signed, and he’s missed 15. We have a buyout option for $30,000,000 so we’ll prolly not do that, They’ll likely hope he doesn’t get hurt next year.

Dee has missed 15 of 27 games. He cost us a valuable 2nd round pick so this one hurts. But he’s on another huge deal that would cost $35 mill to buy our way out of. Hope and pray these guys get healthy.

  10. Winder says:

I wonder what the cap hit would be to just cut em loose.

  11. unca_chuck says:

I think they are both around $8 mill each. After the buyout.

I had to throw my maga hat away today. Please cry for me.

Are the Bills for real? They beat the Seahawks and Rams. Lost to the Chiefs, Cards, and Titans.

They sure give up points. 21st in total yards given up, 18th in points, 18th vs the pass, 25th against the run.

Hmmmmm. Wirth Mostert and Wilson back, we should be able to keep the Bills off the field. Buffalo passes well, but we are getting tougher on the pass with Sherman back and the Ward playing well.

Having Aiyuk and Deebo on the field together should be very cool. I haven’t seen too much of Buffalo so we’ll see how this goes. Playoffs? Why not?

Funny how the pundits all jumped back on the 49er bandwagon after that Ram win.

  14. unca_chuck says:

    Wow.

  15. The Arizona Niners says:

Rest assured that when the Seahawks and Cardinals play for the division in Phoenix they’ll let the Niners sit in the nosebleeds so they can watch two superior teams duke it or for the privilege of not being division BOTTOM FEEDERS

  16. unca_chuck says:

Yeah, AZ is one game ahead of us. Wow. Such a big lead.
