Game Day 5 – Jacques Cousteau’s Revenge

Here we go again. Another bad east coast team comes to Santa Clara after travelling west. Another chance to pad the record against the Miami Blowfish before the good teams roll in. The good news is the offense is getting healthy. Jimmy G, Raheem Mostert, and Deebo Samuel are back so we should be able to score.

The defense is in a state of disarray, but I think Dre Greenlaw is returning, so team speed just went up a lot. He has been missed terrible.

And this is also a big game for Kyle Shanahan. For me, his play calling and decision-making has been sub-par so far this season. His time management isn’t as bad as Snappie Khaki, but he seems to be unsure come 2-minute warning time. I’m also disappointed when we go away from plays that work.

The misdirection runs that work so well seem to vaporize as the games roll along. The run game seems to dry up when we aren’t trying to be less obvious. Which leads to 3rd and unmanageable. And sacks. ince our QBs are challenged with avoiding sacks, it leads to fumbles and bad decisions.

Raiders about to beat the Chiefs.

Yippee. 3 and out, 50 yard pass.

  2. Winder says:

looks like a long day in 49er land

  3. unca_chuck says:

The decision not to fix the CB spot is rearing its head.

  4. unca_chuck says:

    Pass pro is non-existent.

  5. unca_chuck says:

Wow. I fucking hate Shanahan’s play calling.

  6. Winder says:

That was terrible. I figured a QB sneak

  7. Irish Kevin says:

I will say it again and again and again, if you cannot pass the ball DOWN THE FIELD, your team is going nowhere

  8. unca_chuck says:

All the 4 and 1’s have been runs up the middle. 0-4. Way to go, Kyle.

  9. Winder says:

With everyone hurt shades of 79 for our db’s

  10. Irish Kevin says:

A team should not rely on the YACK to get the first down, the pass should have been for 12 yards then get your YACK

  11. Irish Kevin says:

What is Miami doing? Certainly not running the ball and the passes aren’t for 5 yards

  12. unca_chuck says:

Wow. Today’s NFL. No tackling the QB.

  13. Winder says:

    This is fucking terrible

  14. Irish Kevin says:

If JG ends up running for his life from the pass rush the Niners will lose

  15. unca_chuck says:

Jesus, great decision to run out of the end zone.

  16. unca_chuck says:

Every possession has a drive killing sack.

  17. Lurker John says:

It’s amazing to me that the OL holes were not addressed. It was apparent last year the line had issues, but Lynch and Shanahan chose to do nothing. Same at CB. I don’t get it.

  18. Irish Kevin says:

If Miami scores here this game is over

  19. Irish Kevin says:

If the Niners can’t score from the 50 yard line…

  20. unca_chuck says:

    Finally signs of life.

  21. unca_chuck says:

    Ryan Mahomes out there.

  22. Irish Kevin says:

The Niners still don’t have an answer for a running QB

  23. unca_chuck says:

Allen has given up 6 passes and 2 penalties on 8 attempts.

  24. Irish Kevin says:

    Finally a stop

  25. unca_chuck says:

Selah should be shot for leaving Allen out there all alone.

Brilliant not go to give him help.

  26. Irish Kevin says:

    Spoke too soon

  27. Irish Kevin says:

And again, it was a pass

  28. Irish Kevin says:

The Niners went to the SB, they should have no problem winning this game, even being down 14 points. Both the O and the D needs to step up

  29. unca_chuck says:

    Now they bring in Witherspoon?

  30. Irish Kevin says:

    T

Miami goes for it on 4th down and scores a TD, Niners punt.

  31. Irish Kevin says:

Yep establishing the run, that will get us back in the game

  32. unca_chuck says:

Fuck. We are officially back to the shit pile. I guess the Super Bowl hangover is gonna get us.

Yeah the D has problems and injuries, but the pass protection is awful.

  33. unca_chuck says:

If Witherspoon is able to play now, why wasn’t he in at the beginning? Did they think Allen was gonna suddenly not give up every fucking play thrown his way?

I’m getting sick of these coaching decisions.

  34. alleykat69 says:

This whole team plus the coaches need to get tackled by Marvin Harrison in the locker room!!!

  35. unca_chuck says:

Score or lose for us right about now. Miami gets the ball so we could be down 31-7. . .

    to the dolphns.

  36. Irish Kevin says:

Nice graphic comparing the 2 QB

  37. Irish Kevin says:

So far there is no difference between Mullens and Jimmy, we will be seeing CJ sooner rather than later

  38. unca_chuck says:

    Good night Irene.

We should be using our timeouts.

  39. Lurker John says:

    I’m sorry, Jimmy Garoppolo sucks.

  40. Irish Kevin says:

Let’s see there will be about 40 seconds left when the O gets on the field, I say 3 runs to end the half

  41. unca_chuck says:

What kills me, and I’ve been bitching about this a long time, is our reluctance to go deep. And when we do, it’s a fucking RB. Not Deebo. Not Aiyuk.

  42. Irish Kevin says:

    A screen is a run

  43. Irish Kevin says:

Kyle needs to grow a pair

  44. unca_chuck says:

Wow. Looks like we will be looking for a QB soon.

  45. Lurker John says:

Patrick Mahomes. They could’ve had Patrick Mahomes. ROFL!

  46. unca_chuck says:

Getting the Beater for the 2nd half.

  47. Irish Kevin says:

And I called it CJ in the game

  48. Irish Kevin says:

Down 4 TD’s, oh what the hell let’s establish the run

  49. Irish Kevin says:

Of course if you don’t have a QB who can pass the ball, better run it

  50. Irish Kevin says:

At least Jimmy had some completions

  51. unca_chuck says:

Just wow. That was the weakest roughing ever. Refs trying to gift us a score.

  52. Irish Kevin says:

If it wasn’t for penalties the aniners would not be moving the ball 🏈

  53. Irish Kevin says:

Charlie can’t you block the troll? Ha ha

  54. alleykat69 says:

    Just Beat it,Beat it!!
Mullens from back up to outhouse!
Scott Bull are Cody Pickett not available?

  55. Winder says:

    back to the drawing board

  56. unca_chuck says:

Pathetic defensive effort. 3rd and 16 and you give up 15. We are playing scared deep so they are going underneath.

    Outcoached on defense.

  57. Irish Kevin says:

The Niners great D no more

  58. Irish Kevin says:

Let’s see if CJ can move the ball without penalties helping him

  59. unca_chuck says:

The refs have more yards than we do.

  60. unca_chuck says:

Coaching is failing big time. Line calls not very encouraging as they let the blitzer come free.

  61. unca_chuck says:

Into the cellar with a bullet.

  62. Lurker John says:

And that was the “easy” part of the schedule.

  63. unca_chuck says:

Yup, playing like this and we will be 2-10.

  64. Irish Kevin says:

Maybe the Niners will give up 50 points like Dallas did last week

  65. unca_chuck says:

This team has become miserable to watch again.

  66. Irish Kevin says:

    2 games of complete ineptitude

  67. unca_chuck says:

If Witherspoon turns around, the ball is right to him.

  68. Irish Kevin says:

The Niners will have to go no huddle the rest of the game

  69. Irish Kevin says:

And if Miami scores a TD, the Niners should just help Miami run out the clock

  70. Irish Kevin says:

5 TD’s to win the game.

  71. unca_chuck says:

3 TDs and 3 2 pts conversions. Our defense needs to do more than nothing

  72. unca_chuck says:

    Atrocious play call there.

  73. NJ49er says:

    Ohlone sweat lodge time Jed

  74. unca_chuck says:

Shanahan is just terrible at short yardage. He’s running all his guys on 5 yard dig routes on 4th and 2. Where’s a throw to the flat for an easy completion? It isn’t that hard.

  75. unca_chuck says:

Hmmmmmmmmm. Teams are hitting our QBs 10 times a game. But let’s keep the 5 and 7 step drop pass plays. NEVER use quick sets and slants. No 3-step drops and getting the ball out fast.

  76. unca_chuck says:

    This is just silly now.

  77. unca_chuck says:

Like Sean McVay before him, people have figured out Shanny’s tendencies and are stopping him.

Then again, the line play has been atrocious, which leads to terrible QB play, which leads to losses.

    0-3 at home.

  78. NJ49er says:

Playing for a Draft pick now
    We suck

  79. unca_chuck says:

Teams generally ignore all the pre-span motion and pay shit straight up now. I just wish Shanny would help out his QBs by getting the ball out faster. Rare are the 3 step drops and quick slants.

  80. Irish Kevin says:

Wow I didn’t know Ryan was 37 years old, he was more mobile than the Niners 3 QBs

  81. unca_chuck says:

Yeah, He’s no spring chicken, yet he escapes pressure better than any of our guys.

Maybe we should re-sign Kaepernick. At least he can run.

  82. Irish Kevin says:

Mostert 90 yards, I have always said I will let a RB run up and down the field, if you don’t score who cares how many yards a RB has

  83. unca_chuck says:

There’s nothing wrong with running. But if you can’t protect the QB, they become ineffective.

We have yet to adjust to all the pressure our QBs face.

    New thread is up.

Super Bowl WIN or Bust . . . . . .
