Game Day!! Morning Maryland Mayhem Madness

No idea how this one goes. But I think our defense can stop their offense enough to give us a squeaker of a win.

33-31 Niners.

(UPDATE – I was tired and a little buzzed when I wrote this last night)

I guess to commemorate the game tomorrow, they are showing Super Bowl XLVII on the NFL Network. Great movie but I hate the ending.

And now the clock favors the Ravens.

  2. Grumpy Guy's avatar Grumpy Guy says:

That “Who scores last” thing I was thinking earlier is going to kill us today. The clock just isn’t breaking our way.

  3. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

    Yerp. Mistakes kill.

  4. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Doesn’t hurt to have the best FG kicker in the league setting up for a chip shot! And burning all their TO’s was totally stupid! Shanny did a terrible job on that all day!!

  5. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Hopefully Kyle learns that he needs to score in these kinds of games, running the ball and using up the clock does not work without a lead. Bad weather, and the Ravens home field.

  6. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

My 10:03 was the right score, wrong teams.

  7. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Fuck Shanny and his clock management today!!!

  8. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Shanny has to do a better job of clock management and play calling.

  9. Grumpy Guy's avatar Grumpy Guy says:

Give the Ravens credit. They’re a damned good team. We just might, just maybe, see them again in January.

Tucker is money 💰 always has been!
Still you can’t say the 49ers are still an elite team playing hard for 59:57 minutes in their house under tough conditions…

Great game back and forth, certainly could of gone either way. Ravens made their long FG and Niners didnt.
No team wins every game but the Niners proved their worth today and have no reason to fear anyone, including a rematch with the Ravens if that comes to pass.

  12. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

If they managed the clock better at the end of the 1st half and got a closer FG attempt they would still be playing into OT..

I failed second grade English three times

This game is gonna make us stronger.

  15. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Yeah, they played tough again in bad conditions. The hope is Shanny trusts his offense to get down and score instead of playing it safe.

  16. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Why wasn’t this done in the 4th quarter,

The 49ers immediately responded with a 5-play, 75-yard drive that culminated in a Raheem Mostert touchdown. Garoppolo connected with Samuel, Jeff Wilson Jr. and Emmanuel Sanders as the 49ers muscled into Ravens territory. On 1st-and-10, Mostert took the handoff and dodged several defenders en route to the end zone for his fourth touchdown of the season.

  17. Grumpy Guy's avatar Grumpy Guy says:

I wish we had the 4th and 1 play to do over. As soon as I saw the shotgun I was dubious. Why not go play action to Mostert there, have Garoppolo roll out and either run it for one lousy yard or pitch it to Kittle in the flat?

But yeah, we took them down to zero on the clock. Played them way tougher than the Pats or the Seahawks, and did not crap the bed like the Rams. No reason to panic over this one.

  18. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Yeah, I didn’t like that seeing as how well we were running. But also, even play action there would freeze the LBs for a moment and maybe open up a drag route on a roll out.

      Just read yours Grump. Yep.

I’m curious as to why Skittles didn’t get more opportunities. He was a monster blocking, but he should have been available for some peel-off plays.

They shut him down with Man coverage Chuck. CB (Peters?) on him all afternoon.
Sloppy weather and tight coverage wasn’t a great recipe for him as a receiving threat today.
To his credit, he’s a monster in the running game. Mostert had some nice help from him all afternoon.
Surprised that Sanders wasn’t more of a factor but, weather had a lot to do with it today,
Need to rebound in NOLA. Weather won’t be a factor of course but…Saints got extra rest and home field advantage for this one.
Rev up the D and get this Offense out of 1st gear for a change.

I’d like to see a statement game next week from this team. Take our frustrations out by beating the crap out of the Saints.

    • Winder's avatar Winder says:

Since Brees isn’t really mobile i think they will have a very hard time with us. I am looking to see how Jimmy G responds he played a pretty damn good game against Balt.

  20. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

If lowly Atlanta can go into the Saints house and lay down a “Mardi Grã Ass Whipping” I see no reason the 49ers won’t kick their asses as well.I can see Brees getting sacked 6 times a couple of picks and the 49ers rolling 42-17..
