Happy Turkey Football Day ! ! !

Happy Thanksgiving, folks! As we all know, there is much to be thankful in Ninerland this year. 10-1 record. Tops in the NFL. The #1 defense. Relevance. Nick Bosa. The emergence of Deebo Samuels. Hope y’all have a great thanksgiving, and safe  travels should you be hitting the roads. We’re heading to Aptos for football, family, and fun.

On tap today is the usual clunker thrown out by the 3-7-1 Deetroit. They get this ignominious game every year, and they suck at it, going 7-13 in the last 20, and 37-40-2 overall. This turkey day they face da 5-6 Bearss. Call this one the Tidy Bowl.

Dallas has fared better all these years, going 31-19-1 on TG, but only 11-9 recently. Choke on that turkey leg, Jerry! Dallas faces the team that knows how to circle the wagons the best, the Buffalo Bills.  A Dallas loss would be a nice precursor to stuffing our faces, and watching Frank Gore is always fun. Here’s to hoping Buffalo keeps up the pace with the Patriots.

The night game actually looks a little interesting with the Saints trying to exact their revenge on a recent inexplicable loss to the lowly Falcons. Wall to wall football.  Break out the stretchy pants.

Lamar Jackson is going to torch me so hard on Sunday that I’ll come out of that game more burnt than Chuck’s crispy crunchy turkey came out of the oven.

    From Niner Nation:

The San Francisco 49ers today announced they had promoted DL Jeremiah Valoaga (VAH-low-UN-guh) to the active roster from the team’s practice squad. To make room on the roster, the team placed DL Damontre Moore on the Injured Reserve List. The team also signed DL Alex Barrett to the practice squad.

Valoaga (6-6, 275) originally entered the NFL after signing with the Detroit Lions as an undrafted rookie free agent on May 12, 2017. As a rookie in 2017, he appeared in nine games and registered five tackles and one sack prior to being waived from the team on November 25, 2017. On November 29, 2017, he was signed to Detroit’s practice squad, where he spent the remainder of the season. After signing a Reserve/Future contract with the Lions on January 1, 2018, Valoaga spent training camp with the team and was later waived on August 31, 2018. He was then signed to the Miami Dolphins practice squad on September 26, 2018, where he spent the remainder of the season. After signing a Reserve/Future contract with the Dolphins on January 1, 2019, he was waived on May 2. He later signed with the 49ers on August 8, was released on August 31 and signed to the team’s practice squad the following day.

A 25-year-old native of Oxnard, CA, Valoaga attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he appeared in 39 games and registered 88 tackles, 9.0 sacks, seven passes defended, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble.

    Valoaga will wear number 92.

The team signed Moore (6-4, 260) on November 13, 2019. He appeared in each of the previous two games and registered five tackles and one forced fumble.

Barrett (6-2, 250) originally entered the NFL after signing with the Detroit Lions as an undrafted rookie free agent on May 12, 2017. As a rookie in 2017, he appeared in two games and registered one tackle and 1.0 sack prior to being waived from the team on September 20, 2017. On September 22, 2017, he was signed to Detroit’s practice squad, where he spent the remainder of the season. After signing a Reserve/Future contract with the Lions on January 1, 2018, Barrett spent the majority of the season on Detroit’s practice squad. He then signed with the Oakland Raiders on April 6, 2019, and was waived on September 3.

A 25-year-old native of Mesa, AZ, Barrett attended San Diego State University, where he appeared in 50 games (38 starts) and registered 169 tackles, 19.0 sacks, eight passes defended three forced fumbles and two interceptions.

Well it looks like the football world except some Niner fans have already anointed the Ravens as SB winners, and certainly they will beat the Niners on Sunday right?

Whilst the Ravens are playing a very good brand of football right now, here are a couple of things to bear in mind:

Close Ravens wins: Cards by 6 at Ravens, at Steelers by 3, Bengals by 6 at Ravens.

Ravens losses: Browns by 15 at Ravens, at Chiefs by 5.

The big one the league talks about is that they beat the Pats by 17, which they did, but it was a 4 point game going into the 4th and then the ball kinda bounced the Ravens way. It happens.

For me I see a heck of a game and a Niners win by one score and that’s based on the Niners great D travels well, the O is putting up very significant points and the weather is likely going to be bad, which should also favor the Niners.

Oh, and I’m a bit tired of being asked if the Niners are real, hell yes they are!

  11. 12th man says:

Pettis and Ford are out, Brieda and Staley are questionable, which means likely playing.

    • Winder says:

We are gonna miss Ford. It looks like Kittle and DJ Jones were our best picks of the 2017 draft. And so far it looks like our 2018 draft was an overall homerun. Maybe Pettis will get it before we dump him. Plus, this years draft was pretty much another homerun. It makes all the difference in the world if your 6th and 7th round picks are steady contributors. Anyone miss Baalky? Thought not.

  12. unca_chuck says:

Yeah. Ford isn’t in on a lot of plays, but he makes a huge impact.

The thing about Baltimore is, if they get rolling, they can put up points in a hurry. We need a fast start and some stops to set the tone. They get on top of people and force them to be one-dimensional. Hence all the picks.

  13. unca_chuck says:

Brunskill did better than both Skule and Staley, so I think he may be a quick sub if Staley struggles.

  14. unca_chuck says:

Brady Hoke got fired for much less failure than St im Harbaugh has suffered as head coach of Michigan. He is getting his annual ass-whipping at the hands of Ohio State.

  15. NJ49er says:

12th I’m with you all the way my friend. Never saw this season coming but….I’m glad it has.
Defense wins Championships and, we’ve amassed a good one.
Win or lose tomorrow, it’s great to be in the position we’re in.
As they say, you play the schedule 1 at a time.

    30-21 Niners
