Re-Demp-Shun?

Well, it wasn’t earthshaking, and it wasn’t even a real game, but I”m sure the coaches, players, and front office let out a collective sigh of relief as Jimmy G led the 49ers to 3 scores, and ended up with a solid 14-20 for 188 and a TD. He started off a little wobbly, but there were no picks, and only one questionable pass into triple coverage after that first drive.

The defense allowed a coupe TDs. The first being an easy wheel route to a RB that ended up going for 61 yards. The pass rush is still a concern, but then again we aren’t at full strength. Kwon Alexander looked like he was having fun flying around the field, and Dee Ford resumed practice today. The coverage by the defensive backs looked fairly good, and the offense looked very good under Mullens and Jimmy G. Only one drop, by Dwelly, killled an early drive, but otherwise a solid game all around.

The O line did much better, even if Jimmy G took a hit. Tha the KC D line is no slouch but there were no penalties on the line as Person did well in his first go-round this preseason. More good news on the injury front is that George Kittle also joined the team on the practice field as a full participant.

We get SD here on Thursday, and then. . . . . FOOTBALL!

Man, it’s our year guys!!! We’re gonna win it all! Let’s get hyped!!!!

  2. Nickk Bosa says:

I’ve pulled a butt cheek muscle and I’m officially out for the season.

  3. rtfirefly says:

Richburg off of the Physically Unable to Perform list today.

If he’s healthy, our former Pro Bowl center will be a huge part of our offense, anchoring the interior line, calling blocking protections for Jimmy G.

  4. unca_chuck says:

Good to see these guys returning. Healthy hopefully. McKinnon is still on the clock.

  5. WesTON Richburg says:

I’ll make sure my fellow tomato can linemen and I get Jimmy the G sacked on every other play. This offense will be so inept it’ll be even more incoherent than drunk Chuck on game day.

  6. rtfirefly says:

Richburg’s practicing and on track to start Game 1. Turns out the injury he tried to play through last year was far more serious than the previous training/medical staff believed.

Hurd’s got a back problem. He’s already got potential for IR. That would free up a spot for Matthews.

LB Malcolm Smith was released today. The emergence of 5th rd. pick Greenlaw and the acquisition of Kwon Alexander made him expendable. It’s little moves like this that show without doubt that the Niners are a far more talented bunch than when ShannyLynch came on board.

  7. Winder says:

i think we got a good shot for a win in Tampa. Sad to hear about Street hopefully it’s not to serious. SeeYa Smith, I’m tired of us getting used to be good players that show up here and do nothing.

    • unca_chuck says:

Yep. The line of those is long. Braylon Edwards springs to mind.

      • Winder says:

Yeah there are so many it’s hard to remember. Who was that OL guy we got from Buffalo that was supposed to be one of the best that hardly ever saw the field but sure made a lot of money off us?

  8. unca_chuck says:

K Street going under the knife as well. Yeah, Cincy and TB should be 2 wins off the bat. Cleve? We’ll see about the hype. But we could very well start 3-1.

  9. Winder says:

McKinnon hurt his knee again so he is most likely done for the year. The report said there is no chance of us just cuttinng him loose. This is from rotoworld.

    • rtfirefly says:

Even with an injury settlement, we lose $2.6 mil in cap money by cutting him loose. We’re already projected to be in the red next year (early speculation is bye bye AA and Ward for starters to gain space) and that money spent would carry over and make it worse.

  10. unca_chuck says:

Didn’t want to be right about that, but McKinnon looks like a no-go this season as well.

Might as well keep him for another year of rehab. See what happens after this round.

  11. unca_chuck says:

And he would be a $9 million hit in dead cap space. No way they cut him. IR for the year I’d think.

  12. alleykat69 says:

McKinnon is turning out to be a clone of Marcus Lattimore, except the 49ers owe him tons more..

  13. rtfirefly says:

Ford on track to start Game 1.

Bosa is still possible for Game 1 but no predictions; he hasn’t had any setbacks and is making great progress.

    Thus sayeth Lynch today.

  14. Winder says:

Yeah, you guys are right about sticking McKinnon on the IR. I sure hope Bosa can at least get in for a few series game 1. I think Winston is s better QB now than in the past but they lost their starting center at least for awhile and that should open some doors for our pass rush

  15. unca_chuck says:

We NEED our rush to wreak havoc. With or without Bosa. Preferably with though.

Here’s (grounded) Jet McKinnon’s contract. The kicker is the dead money this year. He ain’t going anywhere. Next year the cap hit goes up while the dead money goes down. All in all, a waste at this point.

I am going to personally stop this hurricane the same way the Niners D will stop the NFC West quarterbacks. NOT GOOD

  17. Winder says:

After looking at the schedule and seeing the makeup of our team I think we will have a 7-9 outcome. To me that is not a failed season. I also think we will be in every game we play, and show the NFL we do not give up or in to anyone. If everything stays on schedule next years team should be playoff calibre.
