The Jimmy G love-fest is in full bloom. Say what you will about the hype and all the expectations suddenly thrust upon him with his play down the stretch last year, but NFL folks notice shit like this.
And isn’t this the best scenario for him? Excellent pedigree learning his craft behind the 2nd best QB in history? His NFL upbringing in a first-class organization? The trade to a team with a sharp young offensive mind, and a no-nonsense GM who are building the team from the ground up? A spotless 7-0 record as a starter with NE (2-0) and SF (5-0)?
The latest to jump on the bandwagon is Peter King, recently of SI and now writing for MSNBC. He recently said in as phone interview that Jimmy G the ‘most compelling story’ of the 2018 NFL season. He says:
“We’re all totally fascinated with Garoppolo. You know what my take on Garoppolo is? I’m going to write this at some point soon. I think it’s hard to imagine a player, a quarterback prospect —this is going to sound ridiculous— a quarterback prospect in NFL history who has the bedrock of quality upbringing as an NFL quarterback as Jimmy Garoppolo does. Because think about it. You’re drafted by the Patriots. You’re in a quarterback room with Tom Brady. You’re being coached every day by Josh McDaniels. You go sit in the team meetings and listen to Bill Belichick. And you get basically inculcated into the winning way of the NFL through Belichick. OK? You do that for three-and-a-half years, and then you go to a guy [Kyle Shanahan] who is as imaginative.”
Yeah, the league is littered with backups who were groomed for greatness and failed spectacularly (Matt Cassel, Elvis Grbac, Guy Benjjamin, etc etc etc) but then you have Aaron Rogers behind Brett Favre, and our own Steve Young behind Joe Cool.
No, I have no idea how this plays out, but I’m pretty excited to see how this season goes. Here’s the full article:

Been trying to find this album.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dark_Side_of_the_Moo
I saw Brit Floyd in Reno July, 11. They opened with Arnold Layne. I ‘ve seen them the last 3 times they’ve come here starting in 2013. Pink Floyd is my favorite all-time band. Saw the Wall in LA 3 nights and Animals in Anaheim Stadium.
Here’s a great old Syd Barret song. It is called Jugband Blues. The guy was a bit out there but it all comes together brilliantly!
Simply wonderful.
That video breaks my heart.
Here is the tribute song the band did for Syd Barrett. The whole album was a tribute. David Gilmour joined the band when Barrett was flipping out on drugs and could not be relied on. He ended up getting kicked out of he band because of drugs but they always paid him his royalties. IMO, Wish You Were Here is the best album ever recorded.
Hard to eliminate much from their catalog but…I’d have to go with Dark Side of the Moon as favorite overall.
Definitely the early stuff for me… Wish You Were Here/Division Bell/The Wall etc.
Had never seen or heard this before. RIP Rick Wright.
Fun song but they should have at least plugged into some amps
Another rarity from Relics . . .
Only Pink Floyd sounds like Pink Floyd
NJ should love this guitar work!
One of the most under rated keyboardist of all time. Rick Wright sounded like a symphony. I never heard anyone sound like a full symphony like he did. The guitar lead is an obvious hi-lite on this song but the keyboards make it an all time classic song.
If I want guitar I listen to Animals. Gilmour is flat amazing on that entire album’.
Interspersed in this movie clip is some early Pink Floyd. UFO Club, 1966 apparently.
A story I read somewhere was that the place where Syd Barrett lived in early ’67, his roommates were dosing his coffee every day for close to 8 months before he (or someone else) got him out of there.
True or not I don’t know, but that much LSD I’d think would fuck someone over hard. By the time they started making it, he was already on his way out. The lyrics to Jugband Blues pretty much explain his state of mind. He did a couple solo albums after leaving Pink Floyd, and they’re pretty uneven, but show flashes of the old Syd.
I would say my favorite albums are Animals, Wish you Were Here and Meddle. But everything up to Animals I can listen to. In my partaking days, it was Atom Heart Mother,
I know so many people who have never heard Piper, and can’t believe that it is Floyd.
It has been a long time since I listened to Relics. It was great to hear those two songs again. I forgot how good the guitar lead s in Biding My Time.
Yeah it’s definitely one of the most un-pink floyd sounding pink floyd songs.
Well, it’s not Floyd, but:
Congratulations to the 2018 World Cup Champions!!!!
David Gilmour Live in Gdansk is an excellent listen as well – I have the CD/DVD set and absolutely love it.

It’s also the final Pink Floyd-related recording to feature Richard Wright, who died on 15 September 2008, one week before the album’s official release.
David Gilmour ‘On An Island’ is a good listen as well.
Needless to say, I guess my favorite Pink Floyd album happens to be the one I’m listening to at any given time.
Which right now means Wish You Were Here.

We might want to think of replacing mitchell with …l
Hankins
16 games 51 tackles 7.0 sacks
Peter King on Jimmy G
I guess we aren’t gonna sneak up on anyone this year.
Funny what comes along with good QB play in the realm of overall perceptions huh…?
Not hard to take 😀
Hah! I think that’s a good thing.
Here’s from the Warfield Thurs night.
Shit, Flickr cut off the last 1:30 . . .
, Still, that was great. Always loved the Warfield a very fun venue.
Yeah, I hadn’t been there in like 30 years . . . it was great to see the old place.
more fun shit.

Here’s an interesting free agent for us .

https://www.profootballfocus.com/nfl/players/robert-ayers/4941
Tampa Bay only cut Robert Ayers because he only had two sacks lost season, they’re lost – and that’s not a typo as in “their loss,” it’s us actually saying the team has no idea what they’re doing. Ayers made plays on the defensive line without needing to hit the quarterback and was the team’s best defensive linemen not named Gerald McCoy, so what gives? Ayers was ranked by Pro Football Focus as the No. 10 defensive end and had a career-best 89.3 grade, numbers teams should certainly be paying attention to as they organize their rosters for training camp.
The heck with dez Bryant how about

Damn. I’m all over that. We’l have plenty of cap next year, so that would be incredible. 2 back formations and both a threat to catch a pass in the flat.
As far as Ayers goes, bering him in. We need as many people fighting for jobs as we can get.
Can you imagine this team with a RB like Bell !
We’re only expecting to have 75 mil in cap space next year
What is Jimmy G doing with his 137 mil? He’s dating a porn star! That’s my QB!
LOL
