The playoffs have not been very kids to the KC Chiefs or Alex Smith. His Chiefs always seem to get killed by injuries to key players at important times. Whether it be Jamaal Charles in 2013 amid the 28 point blown lead vs Indy in 2013, or Travis Kelce’s blatant spear to his head yesterday, the Chiefs seem to expect the inevitable collapse. And someone tell me how that hit equals wagging your finger at another player. Jonathan Cyprien should have been tossed for that hit. Beyond that, the play resulted in a fumble.
Then again, it was newly retired ref Jeff Triplette reffed the game. He made yet another bad call moments earlier when Mariota was sacked on a huge (legal) hit and fumbles. Somehow his forward progress was stopped. That means there are no fumbles because stopping forward progress is the result of tackling someone.
Beyond that, Andy Reid has to wear this loss more than anyone. More than Alex Smith, who had a stellar 1st quarter and little else, or the KC defense, which couldn’t stop the run despite knowing it was coming, or the semi-lucky Tenn offense which got a TD pass from Mariota to Mariota on a ball that could have easily been picked. Reid’s play calling was atrocious especially in the 2nd half as Reid gae up on using the league leading rusher for the last 3 quarters amid a bunch pf blown 3rd and short calls. Oh well. Smith likely walks the plant to AZ (or Hou, or Buff, Cincy, or NY [G or J], or even Jax should they get bounced today.
Speaking of Jax, I think they get bounced by Buff. I think NO is the only home playoff team to win.
Jared Goff? He looked like, as well as the Ram coaching staff, a deer in the headlights.
Good for them.
I have no dog in either of these games but I think Jax’s defense will be able to hold off Buffalo. The Saints have pretty much owned the panthers and I don’t see it changing today.
The Jax offense is horrible.
Yes, Blake Bortles smokes pole. Fournette gets all this hype and he didn’t even gain four yards per carry this year.
Whatever the opposite of barnburner is, this is this game.
This Jax&Bills game is colder then a well diggers ass!!!
Its a snoozer
Makes you wonder how they got there.
Never realized how much Tony Romo has a orgasim on every play call..
Romoi is terrifically bad at announcing. One good point out of 6,000 words is a bad signal:noise ratio.
Borrrrring game. Hopefully it’s the last.
Good for Teddy G. Mr. Underutilized here.
Damn. How does Olsen get that open?
Good second game! The Saints-Vikings should be a good one as well.
Very entertaining game.
Keep an eye on Brown’s new GM, (former KC Alum), John Dorsey.
I could see him making a play for Alex, as a stop gap to grooming the QB they should be taking with one of those 2 Top 4 Picks.
I’ll also suggest that Saquon Barkley will be on their radar as well.
See what comes….
With teams needing QB’s (thank god we’re not one of them) it would be something if Barkley are Smith the LB from Georgia falls in are lap at hopefully 8th pick. Not likely Barkley, but Smith teamed up with Foster has me licking my chops!!
Yeah, I don’t think Barkley makes it out of the top 5. Things are looking pretty good, we should get Garnett and Brown back. And I guess FA doesn’t start till march 14th so that is gonna dictate a lot about the draft. It is an exciting time to be a NIner fan. I just hope we don’t screw up the Jimmy G situation. We are just gonna have to pay the man.
I doubt Don Yee agrees to a kaperdick style contract, big headline numbers but in reality only a year to year contract.
Quenton Nelson. They are comparing him to Logan Mankins and Steve Hutchinson!
Kid is a beast Berger – I’m good with him or Minkah if either makes it to us –
I can see Comp Picks coming our way for EReid/Carlos too.
See how they play the Money Game.
Minkah might be a better CB than Reid. Hard to see him sliding to 9/10 but….
Stranger things have happened.
I read that Minkah has a kidney disease.
It would do well for the Niners to get Jimmy signed long-term before FA starts. That in itself will be a major draw for FA players to come out here.
I’m fairly sure the Niners sign him quickly. He should be priority #1 right now.
Orlando Brown from Okla just declared for the 2018 draft. RT who is 6’8″ 360 lb!
He immediately jumps into the top 10. Staley getting long in the tooth, and Trent Brown has been injury prone. Plus, I’d rather spend a high lineman pick on a tackle rather than a guard.
Guys I’ve heard bandied about are Courtland Sutton, 6’4″ 215 lb WR out of SMU and a guy I’ve already talked about in WR Calvin RIdley.
I’d rather get a WR in free agency.
OLB Harold Landry from Boston College is a disruptor from the edge, as well as Bradley Chubb. But I think we’ve played ourselves out of the Chubby.
And yes, Bergs, Quenton Nelson is on the table.
I’m going Nelson and nobody else. If he is gone I go Arden Key. The reason for Nelson is if we can run between the tackles this offense will be unstoppable. Nelson is better than any FA guard available.
Chuck is aligning with Baalke’s theory that guards are worthless pieces of shit that can be picked up in the 7th round. Come to think of it, has anybody seen Unca and Baalke together? Could be the same person? LOL!
No one has seen you and Spitty together either, Bergs.
LOL!
Personally, it seems to me that interior offensive linemen are more of a need for the Niners right now than tackles. Their center situation is horrible. Running between the tackles is mostly about those guys. Garnett may or may not pan out. I’d be looking at guards and centers first.
Georgia with a spectacular choke job to lose the championship. That’s what happens when your coach rolls over and shows his belly in the fourth quarter. Play it safe in big games and you lose.
I hate Saban and Alabama. The dude is all smiles when they win, a complete prick when they don’t. What a boring team to watch.
Alabama always seems to have he best defensive line in football.
Ken Norton is our new asst head coach defense
2nd and 23 and you don’t watch for the deep ball? Oooops.
New thread is up.
