Game Day ! ! Penultimate Game of the Season !

These last two weeks are going to be interesting to say the least. The Rams an Jags are bona-fide top-tier teams that are at the top of the heap. Win both, and the league would take us very seriously. Go 1-1 and it would be a nice statement to the league about our ascendancy. Go 0-2 and battle, well, same kind of thing.

Get shelled in both games? Well, the attitude would be we suck and are a couple years away. That’s the feeling now anyway, so a win in either game would be gravy, but our draft position would be much better. The higher the pick, the better the trade value. Two competitive losses would suit me fine, but hey, it would be great to see us knock off the Rams in prep for next year.

This catch rule is out of hand.

  3. 12th Man says:

    Don’t agree with that

  4. Lurker John says:

How is that not a fumble.

  5. Lurker John says:

    That wasn’t close.

  6. Lurker John says:

They still have three TO’s left and it’s a two-score game. Ain’t over yet.

  8. Lurker John says:

Like I said, right the fuck back in the game. Shit.

  9. 12th Man says:

    Hyde got beat out

  10. Lurker John says:

what the fuck was hyde doing?

  11. Lurker John says:

This is unbelievable. They score here and they still have three TO’s left. Why is Hyde on the hands team?

  12. Lurker John says:

Long running play, out of bounds and a penalty. WTF

  13. Nipper says:

Hey what the hell is happening?

  14. Lurker John says:

    Still think it’s a longshot 12th?

  15. 12th Man says:

Lol, no PAT. 2 succesful onside kicks, would that be a record?

  16. Lurker John says:

And they STILL have three timeouts. The niner have to get a first down, if they recover the onside kick, or the jags get the ball back. Unbelievable.

  17. Lurker John says:

    Dumbass penalty by Staley.

  18. Lurker John says:

That penalty really hamstrings the offense. Jags are going to have around 1:30 to get the TD

  20. 12th Man says:

Made it harder than it should have been but a W

  21. Lurker John says:

Best play call of the day. They need to find more ways to get Breida touches in space. That dude can fly.

  22. Nipper says:

44 points and a Niners win! Damn this was one for the ages.

  23. 12th Man says:

Wow, what a win, go Niners!

  24. Lurker John says:

Really happy with the win, but I hate Robert Saleh’s 2-minute defense. Needs a lot of work.

  25. Lurker John says:

Todd Gurley with 278 yards from scrimmage and two TD’s today, including another long one (80 yarder). He’s been on fire, Marshall Falk-esque. Hard not to like him for MVP.

  26. unca_chuck says:

    Pass rusher before CB.

  27. unca_chuck says:

Hell of a win though. This team has to be going up untge eyes of gge league.

  28. Lurker John says:

The run D looks solid and figures to get even better with Malcolm Smith, Tartt and Ward coming back. But they have a desperate need for a quality edge rusher and one or two high quality cornerbacks. I like Chuck’s idea of Chubb. He looks like a beast. I know others have floated that idea too. I like what I’ve seen of him as well. As for corners, I haven’t a clue, but there’s got to be some out there, draftees or FA’s, I don’t care.

That said, this has been a remarkable turnaround. Like 12th said, the confidence level is through the roof since Jimmy G’s arrival. For anyone who still doubts what the most important position on the field is, the Niners and JG are case in point. The whole team has been lifted by this dude. From the early season offensive impotence to 44 points against the league’s #1 D. Who saw that coming?

This team is now competitive with anyone and a real blast to watch, end-of-game shenanigans notwithstanding.

  29. Winder says:

This team doesn’t have any quit in em. I am sure with FA and the draft we will get some needed players. This win knocks us out of the Barkley race. I still think our Running game and OL is where we are the weakest, but that’s just me.

  30. Nipper says:

    Merry Christmas everyone.

  31. NJ49er says:

    #1 Defense huh?
When the WCO is in rhythm, the ball comes out and things happen too fast for the Defense to react.
    Shanny has his Gun Slinger.
Improve the inside running game and this team will contend next year.
    Nice day at the office….

    Merry Christmas Gents. Enjoy!
