Big Win vs a Good Team

Well, the Jimmy G story just got a little more cred as the 49ers beat a solid playoff contender in the Tennessee Tuxedos and our ex-WR-turned-TE Delanie Walker. Walker paid early dividends for us by dropping a TD and fumbling, the drop gave us 4 points on the FG, and the fumble led to our only TD of the day, But the story of the day was the passing attack.

Jimmy G was 31-43 for 381 yards and a score. He didn’t take as many shots as last week, but did get sacked 3 times. He threw passes to 10 different receivers, including himself, and including 10 for 114 to Marquise Goodwin.Β  The defense had a very mixed day but in the end did a good enough job to keep the score close. Close enough for the last FG drive with 1:20 left in the game.

Encouraging signs were the 7-14 3rd down conversions and the 414 total yards. Discouraging were the red zone struggles, the lack once again of a pass rush, the 7 penalties (better than recent games but some really killer ones), and the 6-12 3rd down conversion rate given up.

In the end though, a solid win against a playoff team.

It’s interesting that both of last years can’t miss WR’s had non productive seasons. I know that Williams was out for most of the year with injuries and the same can be said of Davis. But when they have played they have’n’t shown much. I think the reason a lot of clubs are reluctant to draft WR’s so high is that even thought the players are obviously good it doesn’t mean they will work out in theirs systems. On the other hand I think JG and KS’s system would make most any receiver look pretty good.

Just looking at what has happened here is a pretty good indicator of a system helping players. Also a top-flight QB.

12th, thanks for the offer on the Bud Light bottle – We can certainly work out the details if your Buddy can score.
My Man Cave is a never ending museum of 9er memorabilia and, adding a bottle, game program etc, would be awesome πŸ˜€
Much appreciate your efforts my Friend.
    Thank you.

Niners have scored on 13 of the last 16 drives. I know that’s mostly FG’s, but still….Lets let that sink in a little…

It sure beats punting on 13 of their last 16 drives.

The good news is this is a young team that should only get better. We have a last place schedule next year as well, so if there is a good deal of improvement the team is easily in the playoff hunt.

Looks like our former fleeting star from Down Under did more than just go down πŸ˜€

Nothing like being sued by Ms ‘V’ for taking liberties with her Vee Jay Jay huh?

Christ… The excitement NEVER ends in 9er Land.

Giants finally find a 3rd baseman. Panda can go sit on the bench. And goodbye to the CF. Have a good time in Tampa.
