Heaven, Hell, or Houston

The Niners are back on the road, looking for that elusive 2 game winning streak. Something not accomplished since the stagger down the stretch that was the Harbaugh exit back in 2014. That 7-4 mark was followed by a) Brady Hoke being fired from Michigan; and b) the 49ers losing their next 4 games to fall out of the playoff race. Coincidence? Who knows? And that is a whole other story.

The story now is the Jimmy Garoppolo era. And whether he can win 2 road games to kick off his 49ers career. No mean feat, as the Bears defense isn’t bad, and neither is Houston’s, although they have been hit with the injury bug as well. In a big way. DeShaun Watson was having a stellar offensive start to his career when he tore his ACL in practice leading up to game 5. Then J.J. Watt broke his leg in that week 5 against KC.But they do still have Jadaveon Clowney, so he’s always a threat. But their promising start was derailed and they are now relying on ex-porn star Tom Savage to salvage their season. 2-6 ain’t getting it done however.

That leaves Jimmy G and the slowly healthying up 49ers. Trent Brown is back, as well as Joe Staley and Eric Reid. The D line is gradually getting more and more pressure, and rattling Savage shouldn’t be too difficult. That leaves it to our offense getting into the end zone.  2 in a row!

    Fucking Pinion.

  2. Lurker John says:

All you need is a decent punt there and he fucking shanks it.

  3. unca_chuck says:

Baalke’s eternal gift to the Niners.

  4. unca_chuck says:

I was hoping that ball would get picked for that very reason.

  5. Lurker John says:

Meanwhile Lechler has been booming them all game long.

  6. Lurker John says:

    Need a turnover.

  7. Lurker John says:

24 yard punt. What a joke.

  8. unca_chuck says:

Jesus. Defensive holding on a run???

  9. Lurker John says:

    Hopkins jizzfest all day long.

  10. Lurker John says:

How many nose tackles get flagged for holding on run plays? 2-3 all year? ONLY THE NINERS.

  11. Lurker John says:

Dumervil has been effective of late, whether or not it shows up in sack numbers. He’s getting his pressure.

  12. Lurker John says:

    Let’s finish this thing!

  13. 12th Man says:

A stacked D line and they run into the teeth of it, dumb.

  14. Lurker John says:

I don’t care what anyone says about Hyde or anyone else, these guys don’t have anywhere to go. This game is case in point. Any decent blocking at all and this team would be putting 120 yards a game on the ground, or more.

  15. Lurker John says:

Another mediocre punt by Pinion. They needed points there.

  16. Lurker John says:

    TURNOVER TIME!

  17. Lurker John says:

    I CALLED IT BABY!

  18. Winder says:

    Thats the one we needed

  19. Lurker John says:

Colbert just blew Hopkins up! LOL

  20. 12th Man says:

    Need a FG

  21. Lurker John says:

KS needs to shelve that read-option, forever.

  22. 12th Man says:

    And there it is.

  23. Lurker John says:

    GOULD IS GOLD!

  24. Lurker John says:

    Saleh needs to attach here.

  25. 12th Man says:

    Offside Lynch, every fucking game.

  26. 12th Man says:

    4 down time

  27. 12th Man says:

    That would have been game

  28. Lurker John says:

    I knew they’d convert that.

  29. Lurker John says:

    4th and 22.

  30. Winder says:

    I hope Witherspoon’s knee isn’t that a bad one

  31. Lurker John says:

Gould is now 30 of 32 on fields goals. Helluva a pickup he’s turning out to be.

  32. Lurker John says:

WTF is this giving himself up bullshit.

  33. 12th Man says:

At least they are doubling Hopkins

  34. 12th Man says:

Back to back road wins, JG needs a contract, cut the shit and pay the man.

  35. Winder says:

This was a tough game but both Offense and defense stepped up when they had to.

  36. Lurker John says:

We have a winning streak! On the road no less! First winning streak of the Shana-Lynch era!

  37. zumiee says:

    Hope for the future!

  38. unca_chuck says:

First Qb to win his first 2 road games since Jim Plunkett.

Yeah, as bad as the penalties are , and some of these weird 3rd down formations, the team is coming around. Looks like the Raiders are falling back to Earth rather hard. Derek Carr is starting to look like his brother.

  39. Lurker John says:

Hall of Famer Russell Wilson with 3 picks today, so far.

  40. Lurker John says:

Carson Wentz out for the game with a knee injury. That might be the Eagles season there.

  41. unca_chuck says:

Hell of a game though. Foles as savior? Got ‘em to within 1.

  42. Lurker John says:

    Jags take down the Seahawks.

    • Lurker John says:

Pending a snap or two from the victory formation. Big brouhaha at the end with multiple flags and a couple of ejections. POS Michael Bennett with a dirty play to spark it all.

  43. Lurker John says:

    Great catch by Agholor.

  44. unca_chuck says:

Shit didn’t see the. Seattle game but this ram game is nuts. Philly’s season hang in the balance of Wentz’s knee.

  45. unca_chuck says:

The fricking Niners are looking better than the Raiders right now. Derek is starting to look like his brother out there. Oakland has their destiny in their hands after blowing the easy games in their schedule and lay this turd in KC?

  46. Lurker John says:

Big win by the Iggles. Sets up an NFC West showdown next week between the Hawks and Rams. Hawks win and they lead the division by virtue of the head-to-head tiebreaker.

  47. Lurker John says:

Yeah, I’m watching the end of the Rams-Eagles game. Great game.

  48. Lurker John says:

Wentz walked off okay, so hopefully they’re just being cautious.

  49. Winder says:

At this point I don’t care who wins our division since we can’t. I just hope when the Ram game comes around it is actually meaningful. They are playing good ball right now and probably we would lose but maybe not and nothing could close this season any better than for us to hurt the Rams in some way. Like home field advantage.

  50. Berger says:

After watching each game it becomes more and more obvious our need for an offensive guard. If Nelson from Notre Dame is as good as everybody is saying we’d be foolish to not take him.

  51. unca_chuck says:

This weekend kinda restores my faith in the NFL. A shitload of great games. This Sun night game is pretty good as well. This game has a ton of weird PI calls tho.

  52. unca_chuck says:

No way we take a guard with the 1. We need a guard but not with a top 5 pick. We have NO’s 2nd round pick, and it looks late but we can get Will Hernandez from UTEP or Billy Price from Ohio St.

Point being, we’d be nuts to pass on Barkley for a guard. I think we may even trade up to get him.

  53. unca_chuck says:

Shit, Ridley runs a 4.35 40 and is a possible top 5 pick I think he’s a reach but he won’t last past the 12th pick.

Shit, I don’t know. This class ain’t WR-heavy. But we need weapons for Garoppolo.
