No Jimmy G. For Now

Well, either Jimmy G hasn’t fully grasped the new system, or the brain trust is being overly cautious, but BeatHard gets to play after his stunning (hah) victory over the resurgent New York Giants. CJ put Alex Smith to shame with his vulgar display of power over the vaunted Giants defense.

I kid of course, just my little shout out for Dimebag Darrell and Pantera.

Anyhow, it would be a late Thanksgiving treat to beat the Seahawks. Certainly possible what with the rash of injuries suffered by the Hawks defensive backfield. We are kind of getting healthy and we picked up a couple D linemen to boot.

Hope y’all had a great Thanksgiving with you and yours . . .

    WOOF!

  2. Winder says:

Whether we win anymore games this year or not I haven’t been this jazzed about a 49er team in a long time. I think we have two quality QB’s on the staff and that is what we have needed for years. We still have to upgrade a whole lot of areas and I think the people running the show are gonna get it done. If we can win a couple more games then all the better.

    • Winder says:

No intention of racism but I just thought it was interesting. Keep watching after the cartoon is over.

      • Winder says:

What’s interesting is look at all the credits at the beginning. A lot of big names signed off on this. I grew up loving Popeye cartoons and if I saw this one as a kid I would not have known what they were doing. I like that Betty Boop was black because that was the original.

      • Winder says:

My apologies for going off topic.

      • unca_chuck says:

What’s funny is when my kids were little our neighbor had a tape she made of a bunch of looney tunes and popeye cartoons from the 60s. They were unedited ones i had seen before, and there was a ton of racist stuff in them.

  3. Nipper says:

Game day…….another victory? Probably not but one still can always hope.

  4. unca_chuck says:

Chip Kelly hired as UCLA’s head coach. 5 years and a cool $23 mill. He’s still getting paid by the Niners AND Eagles.

    • Nipper says:

UCLA must be desperate to spend that much on a coach who’s probably had his best days in coaching. USC will always beat their brains in no matter the coach.

      • Winder says:

I dunno, Kelly is suited for the college game. Very few of em run the pro offense and razzle-dazzle seems to be pretty effective. Even though I can’t stand UCLA I do hope they can stomp USC at times.

  5. unca_chuck says:

Alex Smith looking like shit today. What happened? No 1st downs in the 1st half. He missed Kelce wide open on a post play on 3rd and 6 and checked down to a broken-up pass.

  6. unca_chuck says:

As I write this Smith hits Kelce for 26 on 3rd and 13.

  7. Winder says:

Trent Brown out today. The right side will be our weakness today. Somebody is gonna have to step up.

  8. Irish Kevin says:

I am so sick of seeing a run on the very first play of the game, and I am sick of seeing 3 yard passes on 3rd and long!! So many other teams receivers go at least 10 yards!!

  9. unca_chuck says:

The d is on point. The o is the usual 4 yard pass on 3rd and 10.

  10. unca_chuck says:

Brown’s spot was lacking on that 1st drive.

  11. Irish Kevin says:

Wilson alnd his receivers seem to know where the first down marker is!!

  12. Winder says:

dodged a bullet there. We just have to stop them on 3rd downs or it’s another long day

  13. unca_chuck says:

Hah! Crabtree and Talib in an epic fight.

  14. Irish Kevin says:

The way the plays are called it is as if they are playing not to lose, not playing to win!!

    • Lurker John says:

That’s how they always play against Seattle, and why they almost always lose. Shanahan seems to think running wide against one of the fastest defenses in the league is a good idea.

  15. Lurker John says:

Ahkello looks like he could be a good one. Blanket coverage so far and great closing speed on the pass to the speedy Lockett.

  16. Lurker John says:

CJ holding onto the ball too long. Again.

  17. Irish Kevin says:

And to prove my point a run on 2nd and 22!! Pussy play calling

  18. Lurker John says:

    OL just sucks

  19. Lurker John says:

After all this, at least we’ll know what this team needs. Absolute desperation for quality offensive linemen. This bullshit hearkens back to the early Alex Smith days. CJ does hold the ball too long, but too often he has no time whatsoever to get the ball out. Magnuson is the latest revolving door at center.

  20. Lurker John says:

Terrific hands by Taylor there. Wagner strips him like a 12 year old girl.

  21. Irish Kevin says:

They have tried that QB roll out 3 times, end was ready for it every time

  22. unca_chuck says:

Garppolo time. Beat Hard is sucking

  23. unca_chuck says:

This is ridiculous. That play should have been 6 for Seattle.

Our line, Staley included, is sucking. Hyde blows today. Sit his ass down.

  24. Irish Kevin says:

    3rd and 15 and you throw a screen!!! 🤬🤯🤮🤮

  25. Lurker John says:

Shanahan continues to disappoint as a play caller. He falls in love with his slow developing plays, terrible bootleg calls and sprint draw runs and they go nowhere. Seattle is fast, Kyle, hit them in the gut. They will kill you when you go wide.

    • unca_chuck says:

Right. I’m not thrilled with a lot of this either. The way to slow down a quick team is getting the ball out fast. 3 step drops, slants,

Stupid stupid stupid. Fuck this team, I get so sick of these dumb penalties.

  26. Lurker John says:

I agree. Go with Jimmie in the second half. Beathard has reverted to form. These ain’t the Giants.

  27. unca_chuck says:

They’ve got EVERYBODY on the line. 10 in the box and they run into it.

  28. Irish Kevin says:

Yeah, what the hell going nowhere so let’s stick to the run, or better yet screen passes on 3rd and long

  29. unca_chuck says:

Nice! Finally. Of course we can’t follow that with another pass. We have to waste 1st down again.

  30. Irish Kevin says:

Big pass play, oh no we might go somewhere if we pass the ball let’s go back to the run

  31. unca_chuck says:

All this is a result of a bad 1st down call.

  32. Irish Kevin says:

    Shit play calling

  33. Lurker John says:

Laken is a joke. How did he ever go in the first round? If I was any one of these idiots, I’d insist on giving my paycheck back this week.

  34. unca_chuck says:

Woo hoo! They might have well gone for it.

Jeebus. I know we are rebuilding, but they look SO inept.

The only thing that warms my heart is that somewhere in a cold trailer, Spitty is pretending he’s not watching.

  35. unca_chuck says:

Smooth to let 25 seconds run off the clock before calling the time out. They have zero faith in CJ. Get him out.

  36. unca_chuck says:

Pussssssy move. You have one shot at the end zone. Shanny is weak here.

    • Lurker John says:

Exactly what I was thinking, but with this team Beathard gets sacked and takes them out of FG range. I don’t like that he plays it safe with a 1-9 team. WTF does he have to lose?

  37. Lurker John says:

Who the fuck calls a TO on a kickoff?

  38. Lurker John says:

D and ST have shown up to play. With a decent offense this year, this team might have 3-4 wins.

  39. unca_chuck says:

Raiders gonna get hosed on this TD call. Ridiculous.

  40. unca_chuck says:

I think they coulda gone 5-1 at the start with any consistency.

  41. Lurker John says:

That 2nd down run would’ve been a perfect time for the play fake.

  42. unca_chuck says:

Selah rushing 3 is ludicrous. The only thing we have been doing is getting pressure and taking away easy throws. So we go soft. Fucking stupid.

  43. Lurker John says:

That’s Seattle saying, “You’ve had your fun, now it’s time to win the game.”

  44. unca_chuck says:

Elway should be catching major heat for his QB decisions lately.

  45. unca_chuck says:

Why is Pinion trying to pooch punt from his own 20?

  46. unca_chuck says:

Carradine with 2 major fails on that. Is Wilson made of Teflon?

  47. unca_chuck says:

Jesus. What is Johnson supposed to do? Johnson turns around to play the ball and Baldwin wraps his arms around Johnson’s neck, so that obviously on Johnson.

    Hold the goddamn flag.

  48. Lurker John says:

Seattle gets their obligatory helping hand from the officials.

  49. Lurker John says:

    Ballgame.

  50. Lurker John says:

I thought Witherspoon was a press corner. Just lets Graham waltz into the endzone.

  51. unca_chuck says:

Same old same old. With an extra helping from the zebras.

If anything this hastens the Garoppolo era.

  52. Lurker John says:

Fuck Seattle and their drunken fans.

  53. unca_chuck says:

Jesus. Shanny really has to get the fuck off these slow-developing plays. This doesn’t work, as shown by the previous 10 games.

Well, now Staley and Brown are out again. Great.

  54. unca_chuck says:

    Are you fucking kidding me?

  55. unca_chuck says:

Bleeeeh. What a bunch of shit. 100% fact that Jimmy G starts next week.

  56. Lurker John says:

Goff is turning into a stud. 300 more yards today.

  57. unca_chuck says:

This is why you take the shot on 4th down near the 50. The D is gassed and Seattle keeps the ball for 5 minutes and push us back to the 10.

Hope the coaches are learning from this shit.

  58. unca_chuck says:

Paxton Lynch 9/14 41 yards and a pick. And I thought Wentz was a reach.

  59. unca_chuck says:

Down 15, halfway through the 4th and we stick with the 1st down run.

  60. unca_chuck says:

Kilgore with the whiff. And as we see, waste a 1st down play and you struggle. All fucking day.

Shanny has to adjust. This is terrible.

  61. zumiee says:

Ball hits off the coverage guy’s head. Excellent.

  62. zumiee says:

I like the headcoach’s coat. Nice coat.

  63. zumiee says:

    And the QB gets killed.

  64. zumiee says:

Ha! New guy throws a TD. It’s not like we need him in there or anything.

  65. unca_chuck says:

Frankly Zoom, I’m glad they didn’t throw Jimmy into this game. Like I said a few days ago, CJ is cannon fodder. Garoppolo is the future. No need to get him thrashed.

To top it off, Dawson wins the game for AZ.

  66. Flavor says:

I was happy to see JG move around a little but it was bullshit that the fans were cheering his entry into the game with Beat Hard limping to the sideline. That guy has been getting killed out there and he deserved more respect than that from his home fans….

  67. Nipper says:

The only question now………when does the HC announce a change in QB. The next game? Next season?

  68. Nipper says:

Beathard should be paid off for taking a beating for the old red and gold. Well done son! Now prepare for your next team.

    • Lurker John says:

I don’t think he’s going anywhere. He’ll at least make a solid backup not to mention compete for the starting job next spring.

  69. Lurker John says:

14 more hits in this game for Beathard. I turned the game off in the 4th quarter and didn’t see Garappolo come in. I guess CJ walked to the podium, albeit gingerly, so Shanahan was predictably noncommittal about Garappolo starting next week.

  70. Lurker John says:

They’re not only going to have to target offensive linemen in the draft, they’re going to have to look to bring in any quality free agents out there, or trades. This is as bad a line as I can remember the Niners fielding.

  71. unca_chuck says:

Kilgore has been a huge disappointment. We need a center as well as 2 guards and a backup tackle or 2.

  72. Irish Kevin says:

Merton Hanks on Post game KNBR, why would put Jimmy behind this Swiss Cheese Oline? Excellent question

  73. Irish Kevin says:

This just goes to show how bad the N.Y. Giants Dline was when the Niners won, CJ had time to throw. With that said the guys on KNBR wanted to know how many times CJ held the balll too long, CJ needs to learn to look and throw, taking too long for him to do his count down to the safe pass, the shitty screen

    • Berger says:

CJ does take more time to read than he should. Did you see JG on the 3rd and 6? He planted his foot and threw in rhythm. CJ would have definitely throw a moment later.

  74. Berger says:

When JG came in there was instant rhythm. We never got any rhythm going with Beathard. It was one minute but JG took control and was directing well. I am absolutely 100% positive Beathard would not have got that last play snapped. He moves in slow motion compared the JG. JG had the whole team moving faster. If he doesn’t start next week I am going to want some answers as to why.

    • Irish Kevin says:

I did not see JG play. I want to know if it was just garbage time and Was the Seattle D going all out.

  75. Berger says:

There is no question that some of Beathard’s hits that he takes are caused by his own slow decision making. He reads OK but he is just slow about it. And then his throws are just off enough that receivers are just catching the ball, getting hit or going down and not getting YAC.

    • Winder says:

The kid needs to sit behind a starter for awhile and learn stuff. He’s been thrown to the wolves right from the beginning. The reason we did so well against the Giants was because Trent Brown was on the right side. He is a monster.

  76. Winder says:

What gets me is why can’t Colbert play with a bad thumb? He is one of our best o;pen field tacklers and he should be out there. All he needs to do is tape it up real good and if need be put a splint on it. This NFL is way softer than it used to be.

    • Irish Kevin says:

I heard he had surgery and would do more damage if he played. When they first put the cast on he wanted to play. Why play when the team is going no where. Healthy for next year!

  77. unca_chuck says:

Flav, cheering for the backup has been around since the ’20s. I don’t think that was a diss on the Beater. And anyone that doesn’t need to be out there shouldn’t be out there. The season is lost and there’s no reason to risk Colbert at this point.

Garoppolo? Well, yes, he needs to be out there. Granted the line is a mess, but Brown will hopefully come back next week. The 49ers need to discover what they have in Jimmy G. BeatHard may or may not be ready anyway.

  78. unca_chuck says:

    Woof!

    New thread is . . . . up
