Game Day!

The Jimmy G era starts, sort of. He’ll be watching from the bench and there’s talk he won’t start this season, but that is ludicrous. He’s here for his audition. He’s here to see if he’s a viable option before we decide on Sam Darnold/Kirk Cousins/Josh Rosen.

Could be win 1. Need to get a couple.

Big shout out to 12th for sending me his tix for the game today. My wife hasn’t been to the new stadium yet, so we’re gonna see win 1? Who knows, who cares. Thanks again, and I’ll buy you a couple next week when I’m there with my son. Maybe Irish will come along for the ride.

  1. NJ49er says:

Chuck if you’re going to be at the NYG/SF game next week, what are the chances you could save a ticket stub or 2 along with a gameday program?
I have a few bare spots left on the walls of the Man Cave to cover up if you’re able.
Much appreciated if you’re willing/able to do it…:-D

  2. Winder says:

    The mistakes just keep coming.

  3. Grumpy Guy says:

    Annnnnd here we go again.

  4. 12th Man says:

Lots of punting again. D playing well 2 games in a row.

  5. Winder says:

Yeah, looks like no one wants to win this one.

  6. Lurker John says:

    And now Tartt is hurt.

  7. Lurker John says:

I can’t remember a 49er team this decimated by injuries. Absolutely nothing will go right for this team.

  8. 12th Man says:

Niners have to score this drive, 7 not 3.

  9. Lurker John says:

Another rout in the works at the hands of a mediocre Cardinals team. There would seem to be no end in sight.

  10. Lurker John says:

Meanwhile Seattle leads Washington 2-0 in the bottom of the 5th inning. Nasty weather up here today. Cold with some wet snow falling.

  11. Lurker John says:

ST, the team’s only saving grace.

  12. 12th Man says:

D continues to play well, they are having to do too much.

  13. 12th Man says:

    Just no blocking whatsoever

  14. 12th Man says:

Wow, Shanny Jr way conservative with that. Give the kicker a shot, you’re down 11 and look like shit on O anyway.

  15. Lurker John says:

As of right now, Beathard does not look to have the arm strength to play in the NFL. He consistently under throws open receivers and has already left 2 TD’s out there in the first half alone. No blocking doesn’t help, but he is weak armed and that’s not a good thing. Maybe things improve, and they figure to with time and reps, but he’s missing throws any NFL QB has to make.

    • 12th Man says:

He has thrown long in this game John, but I agree his accuracy is below par, most low or short on his misses. Hard to figure if that’s just him or if he is getting jumpy and who could blame him?
That O line is a hot mess right now.

      • Lurker John says:

He’s thrown long, but the 55 yarder to Goodwin was badly underthrown and should’ve been an easy 6. The ball at the end of the half to Robinson was also badly underthrown and should’ve been an easy TD. He’s missed some deep outs too, with the ball thrown the the receiver’s feet.

The line does suck, no question, and I agree 100% that he has balls, but when we see the way Garoppolo can zip all the throws C.J.’s lack of arm strength will become more apparent. Great drive to start the 2nd half though.

Until the OL is fixed no QB is going to get into much of a rhythm.

  16. 12th Man says:

BeatHard was close, kid has balls.

  17. Nipper says:

13-10 with five players out today.

  18. 12th Man says:

    Foster again.

  19. Lurker John says:

We have a chance to grab this one.

  20. 12th Man says:

Big stop by the D, tight game still.

  21. 12th Man says:

fitting end, bad luck after a momentum swing, this team is snakebit.

  22. Grumpy Guy says:

Injuries, penalties, turnovers, sacks. And the beat goes on.

  23. zumiee says:

Well, that’s not something you see everyday….an interception off of an offensive tackle’s head.

  24. 12th Man says:

0-9, Giants might be as bad as the Niners, guess we will see next week.

    • NJ49er says:

NYG Defense allows 51Pts to LA today and, HC McAdoo suggests he might start Davis Webb at QB next week.
McAdoo needs a checkup from the neck up me thinks.

But yes, I agree 12th. NYG could be worse off than us at this point.
      We were expected to suck.
      Them? Not so much.

      • 12th Man says:

Niners D is playing well enough to win a few of these games, ST too, but the O has no consistent OL blocking to speak of, limited run game, no recognizable WR, rookie starting TE and QB, and the team has so many key injuries its a real problem to get 45 warm bodies on the field and it gets worse each week.

Snakebit in an already difficult season.

      • NJ49er says:

Other than that 12th? We might be suiting up the Equipment Mgr soon.
        Defense can’t get a blow.

      • 12th Man says:

Seriously NJ, this injury bug is way out of hand.

      • NJ49er says:

Ward breaks an arm last week, Tartt duplicates the same this week.
I agree 12th, the damage doesn’t seem to have an end in sight.
Guys are gutting it out and all but, this is unprecedented.

      • 12th Man says:

Truth is Reid has been very useful this season and has played well even as a LB. I don’t think they really wanted him but he might have changed a few minds.

  25. NJ49er says:

Somewhat surprised that Fletcher Cox didn’t get any sort of punishment for breaking Staley’s orbital bone either.
That’s an injury that could have easily been avoided from what I saw last week.
I’ve seen fines for much less.

    • 12th Man says:

I haven’t seen a replay of the hit anywhere, no flag no fine makes it seem accidental though.

  26. 12th Man says:

I saw LoCo Jr speaking about this particular gameplay by Shanny Jr. I hate to admit it but he has a point, Niners threw 51 times and ran 16 behind that O line. How does that come to be? Trying to get BeatHard killed?

  27. unca_chuck says:

Pretty dispiriting game after the fullback who’s name I can’t spell’s fumble and the ensuing AZ TD. BeatHard looks decent in small doses, but missed Goodwin bad on a deep out and Goodwin did him a solid by not tracking the deep ball earlier and missing it. Hyde had a nice game catching passes as Robinson and Bourne dropped passes. Beathard had a lot of chances to get rid of the ball but didn’t. But he did get hit some. Run blocking was non-existent.

Drops, fumbles, mistakes, penalties. The defense continues to play its collective ass off and yet come up short. The pick in the end zone was on our side and got the biggest cheer of the day.

MIssed the fight that got Hyde thrown out. Thanks again, 12th. It was actually nice to be in the sun today.

  28. unca_chuck says:

Beathard threw a ton of balls that were batted down. I didn’t think he threw that low, but he hit his own lineman for God’s sake.

  29. unca_chuck says:

NJ, tickets are hard to come by these days. I usually print them out and they don’t look very nice.

I can get you a program though.

    • NJ49er says:

      Much appreciated Chuck 😀
Any game day trinket makes a nice addition to the Man Cave.

    • 12th Man says:

In years gone by the team mailed a sheet of actual cardboard tickets for each home game. Now its just electronic, you can print them or download to mobile device which is what I do.

  30. Spitblood says:

You guys spend a lot of time and money following a loser.

    • NJ49er says:

That puts you in the same line, following the losers too now, doesn’t it Spit?
We seem to handle it pretty well by comparison though huh?
We deal with it as Fans and, knew coming in, it wasn’t going to be pretty.

    • unca_chuck says:

Hey, if this is where you feel superior, son, more power to you. Glad I can help your damaged psyche a little bit. Then again, you spend a lot of time reading a blog about a losing team, so there’s that. Try not to be a chickenshit poser, Skippy. You may begin to be lifelike at some point. Hey, you can start rooting for the Rams! Fron-trunning child . . .

  31. Nipper says:

Another game gone. Another tale of woe for the injured. Life goes on………bring on the Giants!

  32. Nipper says:

In the words of Spit, “you guys are idiots!”

    New thread is up.
